Nick Brooke is the CEO of Sunspel, luxury British menswear & womenswear brand, with a long history in manufacturing spanning generations.
“When I acquired Sunspel, I was worried that the brand was too old-fashioned and stuck in a tradition. It had numerous positive assets, the products were unique, the fabric development was second to none and it has an unrivalled history in manufacturing. The challenge is to take that history, that reputation and turn it into something that... is relevant for our contemporary audience. Over the last ten years, I think we have revitalised it, but we never forget our founding principles. When deciding where to set up a shop, we always look for streets that show great potential. Chiltern Street was no different. It has a distinct character within the city, with a healthy mix of residential and commercial properties. It’s this mix that makes Marylebone so unique, and right for us.”

Today we are introducing Guy Hills, founder and director of Dashing Tweeds, an award-winning British menswear brand, offering ready-to-wear collections alongside made to measure services.
“I take inspiration from the classic idea of an English sporting gentleman, a person living life to the full. I began working as a fashion photographer, but I was inspired by the 200-year-old archives of fabrics when I was shooting from Saville Row and from then on, I wanted to updated the colourful tweeds for modern city life. I grew up in Marylebone and often used to shop at Chiltern Street’s Grey Flannel with my father. When looking for a store, we searched and considered every part of London but the mix of specialist shops and many interesting menswear brands in the area meant we felt Dorset Street was the natural home for our creative brand.”

Mats Klingberg is the founder of Trunk Clothiers, stocking carefully selected menswear brands from across the globe.
“There have been lots of great and memorable moments on Chiltern Street, but one particularly stands out. It was our fifth anniversary, and a customer came up and told me that he had divided his life in two: Before Trunk and After Trunk. Before Trunk were the times where he hadn’t really found his style, but once he came in, he found his personal look and felt so much better about a lot of other things in his life. Dressing well is not just about looking good, even more important is about feeling good and not having to worry what to wear so you can get on with life and accomplish great things.”

Today, we shine a spotlight on Elena Todary, the owner of The Collaborative Store, a flagship concept space, providing a carefully sourced selection of clothes, accessories, furniture and art from independent designers on Blandford Street.
“I remember the opening of The Collaborative Store like it was yesterday. I was thrilled and over the moon with how everything had come together and how good the store looked. For me, it’s all about the minimal fixtures and the focus on beautiful products that stand out. I was anxious too, as I had moved from East London and was unsure whether the local community would find the concept too different. At first, we had to make slight changes, but within weeks we were overwhelmed with the positive feedback from our customers. We couldn’t have made it without them.”

Olivia Francis is the founder and director of Chiltern Street’s Hamilton and Hare, a premium menswear and accessories brand, with underwear and loungewear collections inspired by the spirit of British boxing and the boxing shorts worn by prize fighters in the ring.
“I started Hamilton and Hare because I saw a gap in the market. I wanted men to have premium underwear that was both comfortable and stylish but, I very nearly didn’t start the business because I didn’t think it would work being a female founder of a men’s underwear brand. Nowadays it’s become a huge asset; I have a unique perspective and aspiration to offer men what women already have. Since opening our Marylebone shop in 2016, it has been an honour to share the street with so many diverse and beautiful brands. I love the area, it is exactly where our customer is.

Today we are introducing Richard Froomberg, the owner of Grey Flannel, one of the longest-standing boutiques on Chiltern Street, trading for over 40 years.
“I was brought up in the retail and from a very young age my grandfather was my inspiration. He was my mentor from my early days in the industry and had the best taste of anybody I have ever met. In the 44 years we have been in Marylebone, it has always had the village atmosphere with the advantages of a central London location."

Tony Power opened his first shop with his business partner Rachel Sweeney in 1994, with a workshop on site. Sharing the creative process and the craftsmanship that goes into the work with their customers has always been at the core of Cox & Power Jewellery.
“I have been making jewellery in the heart of London for over 30 years. We chose Chiltern Street because of its wonderful neighbourly atmosphere, with the best of London just moments away, the parkland, galleries and hidd...en gems. When you choose a location for a store, we realised that location would be very important for our brand. Since we opened, every morning I walk onto Chiltern Street and I know we’re in the right place. One of my favourite memories is the day of our opening. After the hard work and the buzz of our press launch, a renowned dancer came in and purchased one of our more unusual rings. It was late on a summer’s afternoon and we felt that the pieces of a jigsaw had finally fit together and it was all meant to be!”

Stephen is the manager of Chiltern Street’s Cadenhead's Whiskey Shop & Tasting Room, Scotland’s oldest independent bottler and an expert in all things whisky.
“I have been working in the whisky industry for 23 years and #ChilternStreet and the surrounding area is a breath of fresh air for a small business like this one. The community feel means we all work together, more so than a usual high street. To succeed in business, you need to offer a good customer service that gets better as you learn from others around you. If we do well, the whole area does well.”
