A LIFE CHANGER / This is Maria, one of Pump Aid’s first female entrepreneurs. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣As part of their entrepreneur scheme @pumpaid train, mentor and support entrepreneurs - promoting resilience, pride and ownership and freeing communities from a pervasive culture of aid dependancy.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣In Malawi, 40% of all water points are non-functional as they end up abandoned when they break down - even though a simple fix could put the pump back into operation. This means million...s of people are forced to use unsafe water - leading to illness and completely avoidable deaths. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣With Pump Aid’s scheme, Maria now runs her own business repairing these broken community water pumps and restoring clean, safe water to the communities that need it. These communities no longer have to wait months or even years for their water supply to be restored - she has their pump back up and running within a day or two! This can literally mean the difference between life and death - and we are incredibly proud to partner with Pump Aid and support people like Maria. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣When we started PDBC, we were focused on keeping our head above water and didn’t find the time to shout about the incredible work which Pump Aid are doing and thank our drinkers for their support in helping them achieve even more for communities in Malawi.
