This Friday there is an amazing opportunity to see one the top 10 European basketball clubs, Kauno Žalgiris, face a strong opponent from Poland here in London, in the olympic park.
On this day, in 1253, the sole Lithuanian King, Mindaugas was coronated. With this event, the King unified conflicting Baltic tribes into a state, called Lithuania. In order to receive the crown, he had to convert to Roman Catholicism, when all the tribes were pagan. Thank you for your leadership, King Mindaugas. Happy Statehood day!!

On this day, 27 years ago, Lithuanian people announced that they will no longer be a part of the Soviet Union and restored their independence. Lithuanians were the first nation to take such a courageous step from all nations in the Soviet Union. One of the reasons why this happened is due to your fearless leader and first de facto head of state Vytautas Landsbergis. In this video, he talks about the sequence of events that led to such a great day in our history.
However, it is worth remembering that liberty does not come easily and is not easily maintained, it should not be taken for granted, it has to be appreciated and fought for every time. Because liberty and freedom are the biggest virtues a person can have.
