David has asked me to post this message on the author of Radiant Affinity, Mr Peter Dobson.
"It is with great sadness that I have to inform you Peter died last Thursday 19th Oct 2017. He was with me at our home in Kent and died fairly peacefully after a long and difficult illness. I would like to invite all his friends to his funeral to remember and celebrate Pete’s life. This will be on 14th Nov at 2.0 pm in our village church Newnham, near Faversham ME9 0LL and to join ...us after in the pub for a drink."

It's already a year since the opening of the 'Radiant Affinities' exhibition, and longer since my biography of Cornelius McCarthy was published at the beginning of February 2015. 'Radiant Affinities: The Life and Work of Cornelius McCarthy' is selling slowly but steadily, and has attracted a lot of favourable comments. It's available in London, Stuttgart, New York, at Galerie MooiMan in Groningen and at other outlets in The Netherlands.

Thank you to everyone who made the 'Radiant Affinities' Book Launch such a success. Friends and family members from Edinburgh, Dublin, Abergavenny, Leominster, Manchester, Aldershot, East Anglia, Kent and various parts of London converged on the Tower Hamlets Local History Library on Saturday afternoon 18 April to see the exhibition and attend a special presentation at 3pm. This included a brief introduction to some of the main themes of the book followed by a dramatised read...ing of 'Art and Eros', a Socratic dialogue exploring the role of the erotic in art and life, specially adapted for the occasion by Peter Dobson from the 1980 play by Iris Murdoch. The readers were Malcolm Barr-Hamilton (Archivist at Tower Hamlets) and four volunteers from London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard: Kayne McCutcheon, Nuala O'Sullivan, Paul Swing and AnthonyTaylor. Their joint contribution brought a special energy and focus to the afternoon and was well received by the audience. Afterwards visitors were able to renew old acquaintances (some going back many years) as well as meeting new friends. As people left, a 'bucket rattle' collection was made at the door. This raised just over £150 on behalf of LLGS, an outcome which would surely have pleased Cornelius McCarthy himself.
