Really great experience today. Such a joy for allergy sufferers (eggs, peanuts and nuts) to have a choice on a menu and be able to see clearly which allergens were in each dish on the menu. I felt I was in very safe hands. Thank you also for accommodating our request for a table away from the moving animals. The butterfly section was perfect and our daughter was still able to enjoy watching them from a distance without feeling overwhelmed. Thank you. The food was delish.

User

First time here but read up about it before coming. Our experience was fantastic, just like in the video from the website! The running water, rain and animatronics were wonderful. We were met by a hostess at the bottom of the stairs and only had to wait about two minutes before being seated. My girls aged 10 and 12 were fascinated by all the noises and movements, and were thrilled to find out the names of the animals. We were seated in the butterfly room which was fun because my girls weren't expecting the wings to move! Our waiter Csaba, pronounced Chubba so he says, was wonderful and attentive, and couldn't do more for us despite it being Saturday lunchtime, during the half term. Our drinks order was taken and brought to us almost before we had even chosen our food. The food, what can I say? It was exceptional. My husband had the ribs - Anybody would think he hadn't eaten in a while as he devoured them! I had the Rainforest salad which was divine. One daughter had the child's menu Macaroni cheese which was just perfect for her and our waiter was quite happy to tell chef to hold the parmesan (stinky cheese!) Youngest child had adult burger which to our surprise she almost finished! And it wasn't a supermarket thin multi produced burger, it was a thick, probably made in house, burger, however even if not made in house this was a good quality burger from a good supplier! Very, very impressed. Our drinks were superb, especially youngest daughter's super berry smoothie. Best in London! Our bill came to just over £21 per head which we thought was excellent value. Was a bit surprised by the thunder storm at the end of the meal, but being in a Rainforest, what can you expect?! All in all a great experience, and we would not hesitate to come here again! Well done. So much better than going to another fast food franchise ❤

After reading some reviews on here I was dubious about going but we loved. We booked for a Friday evening with the kids. Staff greeted us and offered us a couple of choices of tables and we wanted to be near the action. Service was prompt and friendly. We were offered a high chair and given colouring in for the children. There was a frog mascot walking round having photos taken with the children and giving them all a high 5. Food arrived really quickly and was good, same with our drinks. We ordered a desert for the kids and the waiter put a candle in my little boys ice cream sundae as it was his birthday. The staff all gathered round and sang him happy birthday. I would definitely recommend the rainforest cafe, it is quite expensive but it was a great experience for the kids and service and food was brilliant!!

User

Despite the restaurant being extremely busy the staff were helpful and friendly, I expected to have a long wait for the food but the service was good. The only negative was the price, I appreciate you’re in London and it’s going to be expensive, we had a great time but it’s not good value for money.

User

Went for a treat for our 7 year old son who absolutely loved it, but sad to say that's were it ends.

You are paying for the experience. Don't get me wrong the food is good but well over priced.

An issue we had was they weren't accommodating to change parts of the meal. My mum wanted the grilled salmon but asked for a couple of changes.one was she would like chips instead of potatoes and a bit of salad instead of olives and courgettes and was told she could have chips or salad not both so she went without. We did have a discount voucher but that covered the service charge.

The atmosphere was ok though and our son loved the thunderstorms and the gorillas and other animals.

It is great for the kids and the face painter did an amazing job.

Sadly not sure we'll be going back again but again it was for our son and he did enjoy it there and that's what counts.

User

The food was much better than I expected especially after reading the reviews on here. It was hot, fresh, tasty and enjoyable. Just very expensive for what it was. £3.20 for a small soft drink is robbery! Central London or not!! The staff were friendly and helpful. The service was good. It’s a great experience for children. And that’s what we went for. The toilets were clean and smelt of bleach but they could definitely do with some attention. They’re desperate for a refurb. Hopefully they will keep up to this standard rather than the ones below!

User

Our 2nd experience of this restaurant. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that we had to wait over half an hour to have our order taken and my children were getting a little fed up. Lots to see and lovely food. Just a shame about waiting around for food and staff appeared to be over worked and couldn't keep up with demand. Children enjoyed themselves but my husband and I were a tad let down as our first experience was amazing.

User

A bucket list place to go. However, take out a mortgage as u have compulsory service charge even at the bar. We paid £25 for 4 soft drinks and 2 alcoholic and they added £4 on top service! Then 12% to the food as well.

Pasta I wouldn't recommend. Nothing special and portions tiny for an adult portion at £17. I had to order chips at £3.50 on top per

teenager to make the food a proper size meal! Burgers good but again at £15 you would expect chips or something and not have to pay a further £3.50.

Atmosphere good but definately one for smaller kids.

Glad to experience it but I wouldn't recommend for a family treat purely due to silly prices. Wouldn't mind if portions were good.

User

Went there this evening for my daughters birthday outing. The place looked tired, the menus were greasy, my beef dinner was only luke warm but I ate it because I was starving. My wife’s fish was dry. The children’s burgers were very basic. Not happy but didn’t want to make a fuss, just wanted to keep the kids happy. We were told it was not permitted to bring our own birthday cake but had to buy their own one at £35. When they brought it to the table it was tiny, barely enough to go round. Way overpriced even at central London prices. The staff were polite, service was ok. It could be so much better.

User

We wanted to take our daughter somewhere in London which catered for young kids, something magical. Having been to the Rainforest Cafe in Florida a few months ago we were so excited to go to the same but in London. We really enjoyed the food in Florida, service, atmosphere and plastic souvenir mugs. Unfortunately London does not live up to it reputation in Florida. Service and food was very average. Left no impression on us. We asked about souvenir mugs but the staff didn’t come back to us. The food wasn’t to our liking on par with a self service cafeteria. Macroni cheese was mushy, nuggets thick battered and greasy and the pulled pork served warm but not piping hot. We hardly touched our food. Staff never asked for a highchair and slow service. Such a shame really. I feel terrible writing this but I really wish it was better because we love the one in states. There was no atmosphere which I feel could be improved greatly with good service, energy and special touches to make kids feel special. We will not be returning and would not recommend.

User

Very disappointed, have been many times when I have guests, but this time none of the anamatronics worked apart from one butterfly, there was no water in the water features, I don't mind paying over the odds for a great fun venue (which this used to be) but £135 for avarage food and occasional claps of thunder is not on! Even"Tracy the tree" was frozen and bosseyed! The only saving grace was Arthur our waiter who was excellent, all the same we will not be returning

User

Very busy and customer service suffers when it’s like this. This is a very expensive place to eat. Had a vegetarian burger but that’s all you get. You then have to pay extra for French fries etc. Charged £8.50 for a non alcoholic pina colada which I think is extortionate considering it was for a child. Service charge of 12%+ is automatically added. We were sat away from the main dining area so didn’t get to see the animals. Great shame. Not a patch on Rainforest cafes elsewhere. Don’t visit as it’s expensive and set up to fleece poor tourists.

User

Not too fabulous at all. Food was over priced and I was ignored once going down the stairs and I had to interrupt staff chatting to get heard. I think anyone that goes with small children should be warned of the really loud thunder rainforest sounds as that scared my 3 year old aswell as the man in the costume, not every child likes that so best to check before they appear at your table. Our individual waitress was nice enough, but it’s not somewhere I’d rush back too.

User

My first time trying the place out.

My good lady had been here previous and told me how much of a experience it is with the running waters, rain, elephants noises as they moved, monkeys swinging from the branches etc etc... with staff telling you bout said animal that you are closest to.

So i thought it would be interesting and the only thing that was good to see is the actual decor.

I heard all the sounds loud and proud but no movements from the animal's that the sound came from, nor did i see the rain from this "rainforest cafe"

So i did feel let down by this since this is meant to be their thing, the reason people come.

Now to the staff... for the most part they are only happy talking to each other about their personal lives (i understand that work place friendships happen but i do not need to hear how one customer pi**ed you off due to their attitude) and while waiting to be served (there was probably 10 customers who have food and I'm still waiting 15min)

When they do serve you they are pleasant and have a joyful expression (the reason why i voted 2 star and not 1)

Final gripe which i researched... the "discretion service charge"

From what i read in the reviews just now is that you can take it off, then surely you should have a tip service that is open to the public and not a semi forced begging bowl.

If we believe you deserve 13% of our bill, we will put that in. It shouldn't be pencilled in as a wink wink nudge nudge

Lucky enough i don't visit London that often and i have no intention of returning to the cafe much to my disappointment.

You have/had a good setup and you've let your standard slip. My good lady who praised you on her previous felt more let down then i did on this visit.

Get it into gear, you're in London

User

Let me start by saying I have been to the rainforest cafe in Paris and Orlando and has great experiences, however I was very disappointed with my visit to the London Rainforest cafe. We were ignored by the matradee on arrival. We were a group of 8 crammed into a tiny corner, after which we were ignored for the next 20 minutes. I had to find a waiter to take a drinks and food order. The waiter also did not check on us once through the meal and had to be found again to take the dessert order. For spending over £200 on our meal I was left feeling very dissatisfied, and actually wished I had taken my family elsewhere, and was also upset the tip was automatically added to the bill. The kids were supposed to have the most wonderful experience which sadly they did not receive.

User

We took our daughter last Sunday after hearing such lovely reviews. We were so disappointed with the service we received!! We arrived and was told to get a drink from the bar, 35 mins later we were seated at a table in the corner near to the toilets so my daughter could literally see a wall from her seat!! The place wasn’t clean and service wasn’t great at all!!

I would NOT return nor would I recommend to anyone!!

User

If you want to experience an auditory version of dripping water torture every 7 1/2 seconds (we timed it), by all means eat here. The moment we joined the queue to be seated, we noticed a shrill screeching monkey with a speaker sitting above us. Every 7.5 seconds, the banana-slurping siren would cry out, each one cracking our nerves a bit more. We finally got seated, only to realize that the satanic siren had siblings.

I could see if they turned on the capuchin car alarm after 45 minutes to clear out the slower eaters, but you get assaulted by this simian air raid siren while waiting for your table. The poor staff there have likely all decided to deafen themselves with sharp objects, opting to read lips instead of suffering through those banana-slurping alarm clocks. They have our pity.

I would pay money to force the CEO of this company to sit under one of these cringeworthy klaxons and try to do his paperwork for an 8-hour day, let alone enjoy a meal. If you want to find yourself wishing for the sweet release of death over some dinner, run to this establishment. Everyone else, you’ve been warned.

User

Having been to similar restaurants around the world (TRex Cafe etc) we were so excited to visit today and sadly left hugely disappointed. The staff are all extremely miserable, everything is too much effort as it takes away from them standing and chatting to each other or staring into space. In these types of restaurants it’s the staff that really make the experience. The table we were shown to by ‘Mr Grumpy Host’ was so narrow that we couldn’t get in. We decided to move the table slightly, as we were struggling (with two children in tow) I noticed two members of staff just stood watching us. The food is ok but the menu is very basic, not a great selection. The loos were filthy with a dirty mop propped up against the sinks in the ladies and don’t even get me started on the bar staff!!

Overall it is extremely overpriced for an experience that that is poor but could be amazing. Sort it out London!!!!!

User

Disappointing visit and poor value for money. Firstly the greeter upstairs didn’t actually want to greet people, not even with a smile. Downstairs the team were not much better - ignored at the bar for 10 minutes, waiter friendly, food disappointing and extremely overpriced. Came here to ocelebrate my sons birthday and left wishing we had gone somewhere else. Should we not have been celebrating a birthday I certainly would think twice about paying the bill and the cheeky 12.5% extra!
