Tonight I attended the Alzheimer Scotland Winter Lecture which was fantastic. Prof.Craig Richie and Prof.Karen Richie from Edinburgh University both spoke about the positive drive that research for brain disease was undertaking.
It was also warming to experience so much positivity on Complementary Therapies being utilized within Alzheimer's Disease for the individual and their carers .
Would highly recommend the summer conference to anyone interested or living with Alzheimers.

So nearly a week into my course and apart from being homesick and missing my family and friends terribly, im really enjoying it .
Our weekend started with a yoga session on the beach in our Brightest coloured clothes for pride and although you may be chuckling at the thought as I am writing about it ..it was complety exhilarating πŸ’•
Sometimes we need pushed out our comfort zone to accomplish and let our smiles be free ...and mine certainly was that day πŸ˜‚
... So quick update on the course , we have been working with the neck and the pathologies of the neck such as torticollis , whiplash , strains and strains , thoracic outlet syndrome and many more .
We are then looking into the muscles and structures involved and over an initial 6 week treatment plan looking at ...
Reducing pain ( client will show reduction by week 3 ) Increase range of motion Provide relaxation and Reduce anxiety
Super exciting !! And although intense I did manage a wee day at the beach on my day off ..of course doing homework and not having a glass of wine πŸ˜‰
Next area ..shoulder girdle so will keep you posted πŸ’•

This month for 3 weeks I'm surrendering myself to the ACMT . Advance clinical massage training in Brighton at the Jing institute. It's a 3 week intensive learning of an in-depth understanding of areas of the body that can present with a pain pattern that if not treated can cause chronic pain and distress within our bodies . So far we have been looking at lower back pain and all the muscles that are susceptible to pain through tiredness, overuse and injury. And learning ho...w to treat these muscles through massage , fascia release , trigger point therapy and stretching.
So favourite muscle so far ? The Psoas . A long slender muscle which sits deep to the abdominal contents and stretches from the lumber vertebrae to the lesser trochanter of the hip .
Why ? Firstly I thought this muscle was inacessable to treat in humans which isn't the case obviously and secondly it's one of the important hip flexors allowing flexion of our hip so allowing us to walk sit hop ride...the freedom of movement . When released it also releases alot of emotion as it is intertwined with the fascia of the abdomen, the emotional centre of our bodies .
So why the need for a 3week course Kat ?
On a personal and professional level I'm missing something, whether it's confidence , knowledge , I'm not sure , however I feel that completely submersing myself in musculoskeletal and pathological conditions may just allow me to find that something . It's a time to leave all doubts in myself and trust in my passion , my hands and my love in help in helping people .
This is also in Brighton , Pride weekend which is a beautiful message of acceptance , not just in love but in yourself , in other people , in life ! Which is fitting for the start of our course . Have a beautiful weekend my lovelies and stay safe πŸ’•

Hello my lovelies ☺ sorry in the delay in posting but fb is just one of these areas I need to work on . Firstly I just want to say a massive and warm thank you for liking my page . Massage and complementary therapy has become a passion of mine and I'm so blessed to be able to be a therapist and have so many amazing clients who although living daily with chronic pain have the ability to keep smiling through it all . This weekend I've been on an intensive Pregnency massage co...urse with the fab Maria O'Neill which let us today work on 10 fabulous mum's to be and it was to me the most special and most powerful treatment I've ever done and I'm buzzing to get hands on with lots more mummys to be . It's also a beautiful treatment for post partum and helps relieve all the tension within the body after all the hard work which in turn helps with the fatigue and allowing the body to be felt as one again . Super exited about being able to offer this new treatment and looking forward to the next Jing course summer intensive in August.

I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and cellulitis in my legs and have been receiving Reflexology from Katharine now for 2 years . This has benefited me greatly and eases the pain all over my body allowing me to sleep at night . After my treatments and for 3-4 days after I am also able to move my ankles . Therefore I would highly recommend.
