IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP
I often have clients coming in to clinic underestimating how sleep can impact their health goals and everyday wellbeing, here's 3 keep points but bare in mine this is just a screenshot!

Sleep is important for various aspects of brain function. This includes cognition, concentration, productivity and performance. All of these are negatively affected by sleep deprivation. Good sleep, on the other hand, has been shown to improve problem-solving skills and enhance memory performance of both children and adults.
Weight
People with short sleep duration tend to weigh significantly more than those who get adequate sleep. The effect of sleep on weight gain is believed to be mediated by numerous factors, including hormones and motivation to exercise. Studies show that sleep-deprived individuals have a bigger appetite and tend to eat more calories.
Mood
Those who suffer from depression often complain about sleep quality. Without sleep, your mood is without doubt impacted negatively.
I have tried using a @samsunguk sleep tracker to understand my sleep patterns which has been really enlightening, Please don't underestimate the magic of a good nights kip!

WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE? . 😡I know it can feel like our prevailing diet culture likes to remind us that food is something that should be avoided, limited, or otherwise villainised. . 🤗But food is one of life's greatest pleasures and it should be celebrated!... something I found a challenge to get across being woken up at 5am to appear @SkyNews last Sunday!... . 😢When I hear stats like @Wagamama's research suggesting a measly 40% of Brits believe a healthy diet and regular exercise leads to longer life and better lifestyle, it reminds me how far we have to go to educate the wider population and share simple ways to eat well. . 👍🏻It sounds almost too simple, but in a world that constantly preaches restrictive dieting, it can feel like a radical concept to simply listen to our bodies and eat in a way that works for YOU!
🤓34% of Brits questioned said that they thought the secret to a long and healthy life was not overeating yet 36% admitted to sometimes doing just that. . 😋Eating should be pleasurable, flexible and nourishing. I really believe the ability to enjoy meals is important to health and that means fuelling us when we need it and enjoying that pizza, cake or doughnut when you feel like it. . 😝Ultimately, when we eat meals and snacks that are satisfying, we are more likely to tune into the natural cues of our body and less likely to overeat. . 👎🏻Unfortunately, restrictive diets often leave your metabolism confused and your body flat-out starving. Fad diets come and go simply because they don't actually work.

#MYTHBUSTINGMONDAY . TARGETING FAT LOSS . 🕹It makes sense that targeting areas with exercise; curls for your arms, lunges for your bum, crunches for your waist, would all slim them down.... . 👋🏻Those after a quick fix are drawn into the idea of targeted fat loss or spot reduction. Yet, that's just not how our bodies work! . 🤓There are a few basic physiological reasons why targeted fat loss does not work. , 🐽The fat contained in cells exists in a form known as triglycerides. Muscle cells, however, cannot directly use triglycerides as fuel. Instead, fat must be broken down into glycerol and free fatty acids, which then enter the bloodstream (...keep with me!). . 🤸🏼‍♀️As a result, the fat broken down to be used as fuel during prolonged exercise can come from absolutely anywhere in your body, not just the part that is being worked the most! . 🏋🏼‍♀️While spot fat reduction is ineffective, the benefits you're probably after may come through full-body exercises. The more muscles you put to work (and the longer you do so), the more you up your calorie burn so you may be stalling results by not using as many muscles as possible. . 🤾🏼‍♀️Working just one muscle group can also make the body itself more inefficient, causing imbalances damaging posture, increasing risk for injury. HOW FOOD GOT COMPLICATED . 😍Sitting in another lovely cafe serving healthy options, the menu is offering so many yummy and very Instagrammable options! . 🥞There’s pancakes with bacon, but after that Netflix documentary, how can I happily eat another life that’s never seen the sun? ... . ☕What about the milk in my coffee? I could have almond but when it takes 5 litres to grow a single almond, is it really a decent dairy alternative? . 🍯Is it necessary to import maple syrup all the way from Canada when honey will do just fine? . 🍳Smashed Avo, Eggs and Toast might seem the best option but were the hens forced to lay in tiny cages and did that avocado get caught up with the Mexican mafia? . ✈️For those concerned with the environment, there’s a lot more to consider than just how far a piece of fruit or veg has flown! . 🤷🏼‍♀I’m lucky enough to be able to eat out every once in a while but admittedly, knowing what to eat sometimes can leave me in knots. . ✋🏻As a health professional, I feel responsible to share that the answer is not to do nothing and starve yourself with guilt. . 👏🏻Raise awareness, ask the companies that sell to us and put pressure on them instead. . 👍🏻I think if we all ask more questions of the people we’re buying food from and where it comes from, how it’s produced, the people selling to us are far more likely to improve things. . 👋🏻Please let me know what changes you’re passionate about, I’d love to speak out about those subjects needing more of a platform! . #ReNourish #Rhitrition #RhiannonLambert #Sustainability

🥣 Who likes granola!! I have pistachio granola in my book #ReNourish and I want to give you more GINGER TURMERIC GRANOLA
SAVE THE RECIPE!
... ✅80g of jumbo oats ✅½ cup of pumpkin seeds ✅3 teaspoon of turmeric powder ✅2 teaspoon of ginger powder ✅3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil ✅2 tablespoons of liquid sweetener of your choice (I love honey) . Method . 1️⃣Start by preheating the oven at 150 degrees Celsius. 2️⃣Place the oats, pumpkin seeds, turmeric and ginger powder into a mixing bowl. 3️⃣Pour over the melted coconut oil and the liquid sweeter of your choice. 4️⃣Mix everything well together. 5️⃣Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Spread the granola mixture onto the baking tray using a spatula or the back of a spoon. 6️⃣Bake the granola for 45 mins. Every 15-20 minutes make sure to give the granola a good stir so it will bake evenly. The granola will be ready once it starts to turn into a darker yellow colour. 7️⃣Remove the granola from the oven and let it cooled down completely. 8️⃣Once the granola has cooled down store it into a hair tight jar for several weeks.

#ThisWeekInClinic . GET KIDS EATING VEG . It can be a challenge to get some to eat their greens so here’s a few clever ways you may not have tried yet.... . Always lead by example, eat the same or similar food that you feed your child so they build trust. . Make food fun, create an image on the plate, call veggies like broccoli - baby trees or create imaginative games knowing aim is to get food into the mouth via aeroplane or even a magic carpet. . Children who have initially rejected a food must be exposed to it at least 8-10 times to be accepted according to most research. After enough exposure, familiarity may turn it to a favourite. . Experiment with flavours, spices, textures and smells, there’s no harm in trying new foods and adding simple flavours like butter, garlic or onion. . Quality time together in the kitchen helps turn meals into a fun environment and reward of cooking their own food can be a motivator. . Think outside the box, I had one client who’s infant would only eat toast, so we made veggie purée to spread on the toast! . Don’t give up! Some children will be more difficult than others, and will require more effort and patience. It’s important to realise habits developed at a young age will remain with them long into adulthood. . 🍜It is a big misconception that you cant eat out healthily. When we talk about some of the healthiest diets, a traditional Asian diet is definitely placed high on the list. 💚With meals full of veggies, protein, healthy fats and carbs, it's little wonder why the Japanese have such a long life expectancy!

#MYTHBUSTINGMONDAY . TRUSTING NUTRITION LABELS . 🥗It's not easy eating healthily all the time, but it's being made even harder by misleading food labels.... . 🚦Which Magazine have called current labelling standards "chaos". I agree the Traffic light labelling indicating foods high in salt, sugar or fat really should be mandatory yet under EU rules it's only voluntary, so many sadly don't use it. . 😡Giants like Kellogg's refuse to embrace the helpful system and what's worse than hiding how unhealthy foods are, some brands are actually misleading how much sugar, salt and fat they actually contain. . 😳Results exclusively shared with The Sun from tests carried out by a public health testing lab have found huge discrepancies. . 👎🏻A chicken and rice Weight Watchers ready meal had an unbelievable 52.6% higher sugar content, 17% more carbs and 10% more calories than the label suggests. . 👎🏻Carbs in Quorn sausages were reported as almost 40% higher, Kellogg's Special K had 8% more sugars and a Charlie Bigham's ready meal had a 128% jump in sugar! . 🤓This under-reporting is deeply worrying. Seriously, who's checking these things? Until labelling rules are made mandatory, everything's stacked against us, the very consumers who are trying our best to maintain good health. . 📊Actual labeling rules allow for a 20% variation but some results are scarily inaccurate. Companies have responded saying they're "surprised" but its disappointing that independently funded studies have to call them out for change to happen. . 💚Let me add that I'm not demonising packaged and processed foods, they're simple, convenient, often have lots of nutrition and really useful in helping a lot of people make decent, affordable and balanced family meals. . ✋🏻The moral of the story is that we all need to take full responsibility for what we consume because there are seemingly too many people fighting against us - often sadly the very people who promote a healthier way of eating. . #ReNourish #Rhitrition #RhiannonLambert

Wonderful! Rhiannon drew up easy to follow plans for both of us. My husband and I have contrasting diets (I don't eat meat, he does; I eat fish, he doesn't and so on) and we lacked appliances, but Rhiannon was able to cater to us and ensure we got the nutrition we needed.



As someone to work with personally, Rhiannon was always a ray of sunshine - full of positive energy, encourage and enthusiasm. She really cares! We were with her for about 9 months and she educated us for life on how to eat in a balanced and healthy way. Would recommend her 100 times over.

My relationship with food throughout my adult life has been extremely up and down. I was the classic restrictor/binger and would rely on fad diets to try and slim down. I have tried them all and consequently failed. My failure resulted in bingeing and the vicious self-loathing cycle would become a regular in my life for many years. I was recommended by Alice Liveing to contact Rhiannon and I have never looked back. Rhiannon took me 'back to school' and re-educated me on food and nutrition. I began cooking real delicious food and never once felt restricted in any way. It did take me a week or so for this new way of eating to sink in mentally because of what I had been used to previously, but I felt amazing inside and out. I had more energy, I slept better, my skin was clearer and my gut health improved immensely which I had real issues with. My partner also noticed how positive and happier I was. No more being hangry! Rhiannon is a star nutritionist. I went to her with a minefield of issues, such as high cholesterol, IBS symptoms, skin problems, weight loss required etc. and she devised a way forward to restore my gut health and reset my body. For once in my life I feel educated to fuel my body with the nutrients it’s needs without calorie counting or being restrictive. Shes is knowledgeable, up to date with all the latest research, always studying to provide the best nutrition advice,kind,supportive,understands,works with you and your needs,listens and explains things fully and most importantly she actually cares! wants to help and see you achieve your goals! My relationship with food throughout my adult life has been extremely up and down. I was the classic restrictor/binger and would rely on fad diets to try and slim down. I have tried them all and consequently failed. My failure resulted in bingeing and the vicious self-loathing cycle would become a regular in my life for many years. I was recommended by Alice Liveing to contact Rhiannon and I have never looked back. Rhiannon took me 'back to school' and re-educated me on food and nutrition. I began cooking real delicious food and never once felt restricted in any way. It did take me a week or so for this new way of eating to sink in mentally because of what I had been used to previously, but I felt amazing inside and out. I had more energy, I slept better, my skin was clearer and my gut health improved immensely which I had real issues with. My partner also noticed how positive and happier I was. No more being hangry! Although I didn't live in London, Rhiannon was easily contactable and we met via Skype and in the clinic in Harley Street. Her knowledge is incredible and I cannot express how non clinical, down to earth and how much of an inspirational woman Rhiannon is. I would recommend Rhiannon to anybody looking for advice on nutrition, she has been absolutely amazing for me and changed the way I looked at healthy eating from been a diet to a healthy lifestyle! Before seeing Rhiannon I changed to a vegan diet and instead of judging me or trying to persaude me to eat animal products rhiannon helped me to ensure I was getting all the nutrients I needed from my diet. Rhiannon has also given me a plan which is helping me to loose unwanted body fat and in 6 weeks I have noticed fantastic results! All without silly diets which you have to cut out carbs or fat, she really has been amazing and I can't thank her enough!
