Sex and nudes have always existed in older representations of beauty and desire – paintings, drawings, photolithographs, music, sculptures, religious artefacts.
As the digital proliferation of images and texts drown us in the overflow of images, what kind of modes does art employ in order remain a point of production of desire?
Discussion participants: poet and rapper Žygimantas Kudirka, visual artist Geistė Kinčinaitytė and choreographer Ieva Kuniskis will discuss the produ...ction of desire in art. The event is moderated by curator Elaine Tam.

Two men, alone in the half-light of a private home. But whose home is it, and what’s their story? Are they friends or neighbours, brothers or lovers? As they connect across a sparsely furnished room, their relationship seems confrontational yet warm, tender yet poisoned. Are we watching their memories of a fading past or their dreams for a brighter future?
They Live Next Door cuts open the twin veins of affection and dysfunction that run through male relationships today. A ri...ch and gripping piece of physical theatre by Vilnius-born, London-based choreographer Ieva Kunikis that sold out its only previous London staging, this one-off performance is part of Rich Mix’s weekend of contemporary arts and culture from Lithuania.

i've been to a couple movies and a few free events in Richmix. Very well organized and high quality content!

User

The building is big and grey and looks like it's going to fall down but...Once you're in it's fantastic. The cafe there is delicious Indian. Proper stuff. Then the cinema is along lots of windy corridors passed a bunch of exhibitions and we had the cinema to ourselves. Really cosy

Invited to a private screening for my nephews film “Degenerates” on Saturday 8th September 2018 . The experience was fabulous, location , cinema, staff , vibe , drinks reception/ canapés that we had pre organised all went to plan ..

User

I've been to two great gigs here so far this year. The atmosphere and sound are great. There seems to be plenty of space so comfortable watching bands and staff are friendly. Great Indian restaurant, which serves ice creams in a cone 🙂

User

I went last night for a screening of Mindhorn with QandA. There were some issues with the sound which prevented the original screening however the staff organised a later screening, gave us free alcoholic drinks, a refund and were really apologetic of the situation and handled it super professionally. Lovely management in a difficult time- I'll definitely come back!

User

I love Rich Mix. Especially appreciate how many toddler-friendly events hosted there. Great live music space.

User

Even though the sound didn't work, and we were Q and A'ing before any of us had seen the film, the relentless efforts of the staff, the free wine and finally a brilliant screening of both the film and music video, made Sunday night's viewing of Mindhorn a great night to remember. Plus only £5! Definitely coming back.

As a patron of the Music Venues Trust, I wish all levels of government supported popular culture, as in Europe. Next time you quaff champagne at the Opera House, ask if you're getting it at cost price!

User

A vibrant venue with an edgy, artistic feel. Friendly, helpful staff and a good mixed and diverse crowd of people. Loved the atmosphere inside the music room. It wasn't very big and had a nice, cosy and intimate air to it. It was like being in a room listening to great music with a large group of friends. Highly recommend this place!

i went to knock2bag.It was a strange and funny night .The crowd was slow but the acts were great and i loved the compere or host. The only weak link was the dj but its true of most comedy clubs that the dj is whoever happens to be around at the time and judging by the lack of gear in the booth which consisted of a mixer and a computer and no control surfaces ie cdjs, controllers, turntables with timecodes ect i could see that it wasnt a priority.I cant have too much of a go at knock2bag though because the dj is always the weakest link at comedy clubs because you go there to laugh not dance so i kind of understand but this kind of thing does distract me a bit from an otherwise great evening.Gripes aside i had a lot of fun and will return, maybe with a couple of turntables a mac book with serato and a rane mixer ,oh and maybe that akai keyboard for the sampler....

User

It is the most confusing apparently badly designed layout I've ever come across in any public building. I always get lost. If you've had to put red line to make sure we don't get lost.

They have a range of interesting things on and the cinema is very cheap on Monday.

User

I was quietly surprised, I didn't know what to expect. But yes, as a place to watch films it was my 1st time and certainly won't be my last. The place is comfy intimate and the sound and speaker system in screen 2 (where I watched wonder woman) was brilliant. My only criticism is, the actual screen 2 cinema screen on the bottom left is a tad wrinkled and could be seen if you looked close enough. But that didn't ruin that experience, I'll definitely be going again, thumbs up.

I have attended few programmes here recently. I like the venue in the Buzzing East End of London. Staff are welcoming and helpful with organisers. Bars cafe/ well served. Signs from Brick Lane / Commercial Road/ Whitechapel High Street can be improved. I get quite lost every time I walk from Aldgate East tube station. Also parking is awful around the area. Not quite sure what can be done? I normally take public transport.

User

Fantastic venue but parking can be a nightmare! Was really looking firward to attending the Baul and Vaishnav Music Festival event at Rich Mix on Sunday April 30 but unfortunately had to give up after driving around for over a hour and not finding any space to park the car.

User

I visited this place for festival and I think it just doesnt suit its needs.Too heavy and sweaty air during all workshops and parties even though aircondition is on. For other events it might be good but definitely not for this.

User

I love this place as a venue and the genuine Rich Mix of events. However - at a spoken word night (comedy) it is NOT necessary to have the music so load pre show and interval that you have to shout at friends to have any kind of conversation. The DJ has to be aware of audience and event. He/she needs to have more than one gear.

User

Good venue, cozy, but seating plan is not great.. and personally I think children should not be allowed to attend adult shows like Arabs are not funny for example (which I attended) with quite the explicit content that's extremely inappropriate for kids as young as 6-10 to watch- be it in the presence of their parents or not. It made my friends and I quite uncomfortable and repelled to be honest- left the show early as it stopped being enjoyable because of that.

User

This is a Council Funded facility famous for making £500,000 disappear under the last corrupt criminal mayor-I dont think Council Tax should be spent subisidising what is basically a commercial venture with a Cinema & Eateries taking away Trade from Genuine Local Business-Restaurants & Cinema-also its very over priced for Both... Keep it as an education centre but ditch its competing commercial side for a basically ethnic minority
