1. Avoid winter weight gain - In the colder months it is so easy to turn to comfort food, because its so satisfying and it makes us feel good, well for a little anyway, and then we feel guilty. Its so easy to become a hibernating bear! No wonder it’s known as the ‘winter weight gain’ period. The average person puts on up to 4 kg! The only way to make up for those added treats is to increase the amount of exercise you’re doing. Try and balance your energy in and energy out the...n the shredding of clothes in spring wont be such a shock!
2. Keep warm - Save electricity and an expanding waistline by heating your body up naturally with a workout. The rise in your body temperature, during a work out, has a soothing, calming effect on your body, not unlike a long soak in a warm bath or lying in front of the heater.
3. Stay healthy - Research has shown time and again that regular exercise strengthens your immune system so it can fight off bacterial and viral infections. This becomes particularly important in winter when colds and flu rear their ugly heads.
4. Beat the winter blues - Whether it’s the usual winter blues or the more serious SAD (seasonal affective disorder) putting a gloom over the colder months. A daily workout releases feel-good, de-stress brain chemicals, gives you a break from the daily grind and helps ease depression.
5. Detox your lungs - being cooped up with nothing but your central heating to keep the air moving means fresh air is much harder to come by in winter! Exercising gives your lungs a chance to breathe more deeply detox.
6. Be social - Try a new group fitness class, or workout with your buddies. It's more fun, and increases your chances of reaching your goals. It's a great way to keep you motivated. Exercise with someone around the same fitness level as you so you can spur each other on.

Very friendly environment, great staff and facilities!

User

The only club not to be too busy after 5:30pm in the area! I love it and glad I signed up!!

User

The best fitness and recreation facility in west London.

Roko itself is a superb fitness centre with great quality equipment and training facilities. However, where it really differentiates itself from all of its competitors is through how they treat their members. The customer service at Roko is nothing short of excellence. I've had several issues in the past regarding my membership which have all been solved quickly and with little stress. Whilst I have only experienced the great customer service provided by Nicolas, I imagine the rest of the team are of the same high standards. Roko Health Club Chiswick definitely earned my 5 star rating and I shall continue to be a member there for the foreseeable future!

User

Not a huge gym fan but Roko is a nice chilled out place. Chelsea L is the star player wide smile, energetic, interested in the members well being first class in every way.

User

Lovely staff - Receptionists are great, trainers are great. In general a great fitness environment, I will be sure to return.

User

Just been to another amazing class at ROKO. The quality of the classes and teaching is fantastic!! I particularly enjoy the different yoga classes & spinning. Jump fit with Hugo today was energising, challenging and above all super fun! And what a welcoming group of other members. Thank you all!! I’ll be back xx

User

Hi there!

I love that this is quite a small friendly venue- with lovely staff and reasonable facilities ... however! I'm deeply concerned that the standard of hygiene is going down hill.

I've stopped using the steam room (which I love!) because it doesn't smell good- always has cracked tiles/isn't working properly/has a permanent cleaning hazard sign stuck in it (all detracts from what is meant to be a luxury activity)

The showers need updating badly- but just regular cleaning would be nice! If and when you do decide to update your showers could you bear the following in mind, please.... the showers are a really important part of the experience. It's what people look forward to when you've worked hard in the gym. The current design has a few problems. The drainage gully is quite wide with a sharp square edge to the tile; because the water power is so sadly weak, and the shower heads don't protrude enough over the gully- you end up having to stand with your feet partly in the drainage where everyone else's scum and hair is floating by. Add to this! The ultimate frustration of the showers on short timers- so just as you foam up your shampoo in your hair- you are blindly searching for the damn sensor... then! When you want to dry yourself off- you aren't allowed the option of turning the shower off yourself. This is less a luxury experience and more a dictatorship.

It's too dark in there too with the blue LEDs. You can't see the scum you're standing in but you can feel the grit underfoot. It must make life difficult for the cleaners too as they cannot possibly see clearly.

Please. When you update your showers- could you remember these issues and iron them out.

A decent, clean, POWERFUL shower that your customer can fully control.

Thanks for reading.

Bought 10 day passes on Groupon for £25. Had been 6 times so far and here are my observations:

1) Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna - that whole area is lovely and clean, and almost never too busy (I mainly go in the evenings and weekend mornings).

2) Classes - I've only done pilates and yoga, and have to say was not very impressed. I found yoga to be a little too mellow for my liking (I prefer a more energetic vinyasa). An hour and a half of listening to teacher talking about stars and moon alignment (! Some yogis are atheists y'know!) and doing not particularly challenging poses is not my idea of good yoga class. Also music was always too quiet, and all you could hear was the annoying humming of the aircon. Makes it hard to relax and switch off. Pilates was even worse. The instructor seemed to know many people in the class which would have been great had she not been more interested in chit chat with them rather than giving clear instructions and making sure people knew when to breathe in and out (which is at the very core of pilates). There were people who sounded like they were suffocating and she did not even come over to check if they were ok. A bit unprofessional if you ask me.

3) I keep getting calls from the sales rep who wants to chat and ask me how I'm getting along. There are no prices (at least I couldn't find any) on the website, and the sales person seems a bit "well let's get a feel of how much money you can afford to spend and then we'll tell you how much it will cost", which to me screams "it's gonna be friggin expensive!". Just send me the prices and I'll decide what I want. Or not.

4) The location of the club is far from perfect for me (there are no tube stations near and not a great deal of buses) so I'm probably going to just buy a day pass whenever I feel like going for a swim (I think they cost around £15) and I'll spend my money on pilates and yoga somewhere else.

User

The gym is very spacious and fairly well equipped. Only 1 squat rack but many machines. Pool great, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi could do with being warmer. Even during peak time there is always something to use. Sadly what's bringing the venue down is the service level. For a premium venue charging from £80 a month you would expect a much higher standard of service. Also beware of the frequent adverts about special offers on memberships - the price list doesn't change - you just end up being duped in to calling only to be pushed on the hard sell to sign up to something else.

User

It's ok for the basics, can do with improvements in few places.

User

I had a half day spa this week, I didn't feel welcome, the treatment started 10 mins late and finished 10 mins early and during the treatment the masseuse was looking at her phone! It was not a relaxing spa day.

The pool, jacuzzi and sauna are nice facilities.

User

Serious problems with cleanliness & hygiene. Disgusting around the pool, complained & took an hour before a cleaner turned up. Matted hair in the hydro pool (looked like a dead mouse) Showers not cleaned (in the 4 hour period I was there) staff rude (complained 3 times to get a cleaner who then told us their machine was broken which is why the pool side was dirty). It's not rocket science to know you need to clean round a pool after 4 hours of kids swimming why put your utterly useless cleaners on a break. Just disgusting. Not again thanks & would suggest you avoid if you don't want to catch something.

User

I had just spent 2 hours in a chlorinated pool so unsurprisingly my skin was dry. I had a facial at the spa and the lady decided to tell me my skin was irritated and damaged. Delivering feedback on a paying customer's skin should be delivered a bit more tactfully! Then i was given a sales pitch on the virtues of Elemis products...all while i was lying there! I had to inwardly smile at the obvious pathway this lady was trying to construct for an upsell. I wont be coming back and would not recommend .

User

Bad customer service, some of the staff are cold and unfriendly unable to resolve problems to make their customers happy! I went once and never will be back. They are just a gym with a swimming pool.

User

Absolutely terrible. Nothing ever works there, the front door has been broken for months, gym equipment is always damaged / out of order & staff are obnoxious / rude.

I recently left due to all of the above, I even gave 3 months notice, and they still had a debt recovery company call me!!!
