Would like to thank the Manager and all the staff for making a difficult day more bearable by being kind sensitive and professional and serving soul comforting food.A pleasant afternoon that could be enjoyed at this sad time.

User

What a fantastic place. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly. Thank you for accommodating me and family and Wellington the dog. My family and I will be definitely be coming back. Thanks again.

User

We went into the rose today late afternoon and despite it being very busy and an anniversary party going on the staff managed to find us a table so we could sample the tapas menu on reading the menu and seeing the prices I thought it a bit overpiced but ordered 3 for £10 anyway and we both must say after tasting we changed our minds the food was very nice indeed and well worth it we will be going back and even though the place was over flowing with customers the landlord took time to speak and thank us for going in and all the staff are lovely and very attentive

We visited as my great-grandparents ran this pub in the first decades of the 20th century. Lots has changed since then but this is still a beautiful, historic building in a picturesque village. The food was fantastic, tasty and original; we chose from the English tapas menu and the recommended black pudding scotch egg proved to be the pick of a half dozen excellent small plates. Staff and locals were friendly and welcoming, and gave us tips and a map to find the nearby bluebell woods (which were well worth the short walk). Very family friendly, with a pleasant garden for nice days and a selection of games for wetter days.

User

Was there on Sunday, really busy.

Food from bbq was great, quick service and always very friendly.

One of the best pubs around

User

Thank you Jamie, Zoe and the rest of the gang. You made our wedding day so easy and effortless. It was exactly what we wanted, nothing stuffy and over the top, just a great party. The food and service etc were fab. Such a lovely venue. Brilliant memories made. Thanks again

User

Sundays are alway exceptionally busy at The Rose, but that’s because the food is incredible and the service is superb. I cannot recommend the roast enough, although the baked Camembert does just edge it out...only slightly! Jamie, Charlotte and the team do a fabulous job in making you feel like you’re their only customers. Will be back again very soon.

User

Our favourite pub did us proud for wedding this Easter Saturday. Everything about this place is perfect. We love it x

User

Lovely village pub. Really nice, friendly and helpful staff. Have always been made to feel super welcome. Great food with imaginative vegetarian options. Really dog friendly, my little man loves it here and loves having a good explore around. All in all a perfect place to visit especially in summer when we can sit out in the large garden. Bar and garden wheelchair accessible although toilets aren't which is the only downside. Still a 5star village pub though!

User

I went with friends last night to the Rose &. Crown. The aim was to try a few different locally produced beers and sample a few of the English Tapas dishes.

The beer festival beers were excellent, and the tapas were so good we couldn't stop ordering them. In fact I think we ate them out of the haddock scotch eggs. *claimtofame*

Combining this with the informed wine list, which, of course, the ladies did their best to sample, ensured that frankly, my taste buds were transported to heaven.

Thank you, Jamie, and Darren. - Great drinks, food, ambience, and, service.

User

I was there yesterday for Mothers Day lunch. It was lovely to be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco. The food was delicious and service was quick without feeling rushed. The waiter even cajoled my 7 year old into having a photo and delivered on his promise to her for a bigger pudding. It was my second visit of the week, having had the most delicious slow cooked steak chilli on Wednesday evening. I love this place

User

Had a great time at the Rose and Crown. A proper traditional pub with a roaring fire, random reindeer decorations, cheap as chips mulled wine, fast wifi and friendly staff.

Indeed one of them is still talking to me after I insulted her taste in music!

Great place for entrepreneurs like me to do work and feel relaxed!

User

Gotta be the best pub in town. Great food, great staff, always welcoming. It’s a must try.

User

Gorgeous food (sticky toffee pudding was the best I’ve had, sweet potato fries unbelievable, corn chowder, hollumi stack: gorgeous) and super friendly to my wild banshee toddler who all the old men at bar with dogs were super sweet to as well. Will definitely be back.

User

Consistently excellent. Superb food. Great staff. Held a small family gathering for 30 last Saturday and everything went so smoothly. The pub accommodated us having a live band too and everything went seamlessly. The tapas was amazing and the chilli out of this world. Thanks guys.

User

Best family pub in St. Albans and really friendly staff. 10/10

User

Absolutely fantastic. Super dog friendly and a games/chill out area to keep kids of all ages entertained. The staff were friendly and the food was outstanding. Popped in for lunch after a walk in Heartwood Forest. I arrived hungry, but was utterly stuffed after only 2 courses!

Couldn't recommend this place enough and pooch and I will certainly be coming back!

User

Thanks Jamie and all the gang for giving Sue and I such a well organised and tasty wedding reception. Food was way over what we expected and great wines as always.

You never let us down.

User

Lovely Sunday lunch! I'm extremely fussy about roasters and these were spot on. Portion size was generous and the staff were lovely. Glad I booked as it was pretty busy. We were right by a log fire which felt like the cherry on top.
