Huge news from the Hall this morning - a time capsule buried by Queen Victoria has been uncovered during our excavation works

User

It's our birthday! 147 years ago today Queen Victoria arrived at the Hall to great fanfare, to announce the official opening of the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences, named after her late Prince Albert.

There are few artists more closely associated with the Royal Albert Hall than Eric Clapton. We recently caught up with 'Slowhand' himself to reflect on his unrivalled history at the venue - his memories of those Cream concerts, the shows heā€™s enjoyed as a punter, and some surprising backstage stories. #RAH150

Went to Planet Earth 2 LIVE. Fantastic!! Music was so emotive and in simpathy with the visuals. A masterpiece combination. The orchestra thoroughly deserved the standing ovation. Pity Attenborough wasn't there as well. Would like to have had more participation by the music composers. Thank you BBC Concert Orchestra.

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, my colleague and I delivered a 7m digital planetarium experience to 328 children and 284 adults at the Royal Albert Hall's 'Big Space Day'. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and found our exhibition space in the Arena prepared just as we had requested. The day was very busy with the planetarium filled to capacity for almost all 12 sessions. The excited family groups enjoyed an immersive 360Ā° film about space shapes, as well as visiting the International Space Station and peering up at the planetarium night sky. Thank you Royal Albert Hall for a very pleasant visit.

User

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit on Bank Holiday Monday. First a coffee and cake, then a tour of the RAH, dinner in the Heineken Bar and then a wonderful performance by Joan Baez. I last heard her live in the early 1960s (1963 or 1964) in the US and my husband was at her performance at the RAH in the 1960s.

User

The staff are amazing. So courteous and helpful. I am disabled (wheelchair bound) I was on the viewing platform for tonights kasabian performance. Everyone sitting in front of the platform stood up which meant i couldn't see. Half way through the performance myself and my husband decided to leave as we were tired of looking at people's backs. I told the stewards on door 0 and they found me a space where I could see the show. They also made sure no one else blocked my view and kept checking on me. Thank you so much to those kind men

The King's Coronation Oath

The King having returned to his Chair, (his Majesty having already on Friday, the 20th day of July, 2018, in the presence of the two Houses of Parliament, made and signed the Declaration prescribed by Act of Parliament), the Archbishop standing before him shall administer the Coronation Oath, first asking The King:

Sir, is your Majesty willing to take the Oath?

And The King answering: I, Jose Batusan, am willing.

The Archbishop shall minister these questions; and the King, having a book in his hands, shall answer each question severally as follows:

The Archbishop: Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, and of your Possessions and the other Territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs?

The King: I, Jose Batusan , solemnly promise so to do.

The Archbishop. Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgements?

The King: I, Jose Batusan, will.

The Archbishop: Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel? Will you to the utmost of your power maintain in the United Kingdom the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law? Will you maintain and preserve inviolably the settlement of the Church of England, and the doctrine, worship, discipline, and government thereof, as by law established in England? And will you preserve unto the Bishops and Clergy of England, and to the Churches there committed to their charge, all such rights and privileges, as by law do or shall appertain to them or any of them?

The King: I, Jose Batusan, will.

Thank you for an amazing night at Space Spectacular! The performance was beautiful with brilliantly timed strobe laser lighting effects, indoor flames and fireworks, which added to the atmosphere and space movie theme, making the live music performance accessible and appealing to all audiences. We had a pre performance meal in the Verdi restaurant which was a great way of enjoying the whole evening with friends. Thank you once again!

User

Saw Cirque Du Soleil this evening and it was fantastic. We were seated in Loggia Box 2 and the view of the stag was good. I felt given we had a box it was sensible value for money.

Laurent Perrier was nice and served well chilled, pizza delivered by the Italian restaurant was tasty and the service provided by stewards was well organised too.

The show was fantastic and clearly the sound and lighting were organised well. The acoustics throughout were very good too.

Beautiful building kept clean and tidy.

User

My son attended the Teenage Cancer Trust gig on Thursday and as hes registered blind I was a bit anxious about him being ok in there but the staff there was amazing and showed him his seat the toilets and merchandise. Thank you so much to the staff for making him feel safe and secure in a very non patronising way....fantastic!

User

Managed to get last minute tickets to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on Saturday night. I cannot explain enough how much I enjoyed myself. The orchestra were phenomenal, goosebumps were there the whole time. We will be going to see the rest of the series and weā€™ve got our eyes on the Jurassic Park performance too.

Thanks again! X

User

Amazing venue. I saw Nine Inch Nails there on June 24th and I can honestly say that it was the best concert experience Iā€™ve ever had. Friendly staff, helpful security and an iconic venue topped off by an outstanding performance by NIN. A night I will never forget.

User

After being thrown out of the queue for Biffy Clyro by Ticketmaster - shock horror - I managed to get tickets direct from the venue and also spoke to a lovely woman in your sales team(unfortunately didnā€™t catch her name) that made the experience a lot easier and way better than Ticketmaster!

I would definitely recommend RAH and I cannot wait for the gig, love the fact you can see what your view is from each section on the website! You will have two very happy northerners join you for Biffy Clyro Unplugged!

User

Such a shame the security staff on door 12 are so rude it managed to spoil our visit entirely. Little people acting like gestapo. Thereā€™s a way to speak to people and that ainā€™t it. Wonā€™t be back....

User

The theatre and show itself were amazing, great view and great sound, however I was disgusted that the Royal Albert Hall uses ā€œone-useā€ throw-away PLASTIC cups for every beverage in the main cafe - tea, served in a Starbucks style plastic cup, was not good, and beer in a plastic cup is just horrid. Even the cutlery given to eat snacks with were plastic throw away ones - very disappointed indeed ļæ½

User

The prices for a childrenā€™s charity concert I find shocking. 5 drinks coming to Ā£35 pounds. 2 wines and 2 bottles of beer and a soda, absolute rip off, then not able to use a tray to carry the drinks. Really bad customer service.

User

Attended the RAF Gala last weekend. The Gala was okay but the price of drinks was a complete rip-off. We paid Ā£22 for two glasses of warm, vinegary white wine. One of the glasses was composed of the dregs of two separate bottles of wine. It put the damper on a very pleasant evening. It would be nice if you stopped being so greedy and did not exploit a captive audience.

User

Attended the Gregory Porter gig tonight and the light from the stage was blinding. We were in the Rausing Circle and could not see the acts on stage. The support set was completely impossible to see and Gregory was the same for the first 30-35 minutes before they miraculously changed the angle of the light... But it was sadly too late for me as it caused me a migraine!

User

A great night seeing John Parr & Foreigner last night was somewhat marred by the thoughtless people who arrived late to the show and spent ages blocking the view of people who did get there in plenty of time like my lady & me..! While the view was generally good & the atmos was great, The regular flow of late arrivals & people late back to seat after bar visits lead to some great video reordings being ruined by these thoughtless idiots. Unfortunately the staff did little or nothing to prevent this when they could have taken steps to manage this situation in the stalls H area. So can't give a resounding recommendation as not sure i would risk coming again for a repeat performance..! :-/

User

Miss sold tickets for an event! Booked for star trek concert, told verbally it was the music from the 50th anniversary and not the Abrahams films 3 times by 3 different people, when I rang to ask for a refund on this basis I was refused and basically called a liar! For such a long standing respectable venue I find this disgraceful!

User

I'm extremely upset and angry that the promised event at 11am at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday 8 March for the hundreds of community volunteers who've been industriously sewing banners for the 100 Banners Project has been cancelled.

We'd been promised

A photo opportunity with all the 100 banners

A chance to see the other banners and to meet, talk to and share with those who made the other 99 banners.

Lunch.

Talks about the history of women's suffrage

And that all the banners would go on display afterwards - many at the RAH

Now we've all been uninvited and there's some scaled down event for the paid workers at the venues where the banners were made - and nothing whatsoever for the community volunteers who actually created the 100 banners.

AND it now transpires that 90 banners are to become redundant and only 10 displayed across all venues. Shocking!

This is a pathetic betrayal of the community volunteers and of the heritage lottery funding for the project.

Many of the community volunteers who sewed the 100 banners are older people - some have visible or invisible disabilities. Standing around and marching with the banners on 4 March is difficult or impossible - the event we were looking forward to was the one at the RAH which is now exclusively for paid workers not community volunteers.

I'm horrified and furious.
