Royal Surrey has welcomed its first cohort of Indian nurses to join the nursing workforce. The five nurses, who were recruited from Kerala and Mumbai, are expected to be joined by more Indian nursing colleagues in the months to come. The arrivals from India are pictured here on the right along with six new starter nursing colleagues from the Philippines. Read more here: http://bit.ly/2H6aRHH

If you have a long-term health condition like COPD, bronchitis, emphysema, diabetes, heart or kidney disease, or have suffered a stroke; cold weather can make health problems like these much worse. If you start to feel unwell, at the first signs of winter respiratory illness, even if it’s just a cough or cold, get advice from your pharmacist, before it gets more serious.

i have just returned from a shortish stay at the hospital and was a guest at Frensham Ward Now retired from working life in diverse industries,I have never seen so many people working at such a pace for a common purpose, there were no grouses, just politeness and a great co-ordinated sense of teamwork in a challenging situation, From top to bottom, all worked with a purpose, Anybody finding themselves in this hospital are sure to be well looked after, with superb care

User

Went to A@E with severe pain in stomach. Quickly seen and diagnosed. Even that it was a Friday night i was assessed promptly and then transferred to Frensham ward.5 days later after treatment i am home. All the staff were fantastic. From the ward staff all the way up to the consultant. I could not have been in better hands. Thank You

Outstanding care received today on Hascombe and in main theatres from every single member of staff we came in contact with. My daughter had an operation on her leg, she panicked when they were putting the cannula in and the staff were so patient and kind, let her go back to the ward to calm down for a couple of hours and then did the surgery later. From the cleaners to the nurses, theater assistants, anesthetists, consultants, porters, play specialists, ward staff and receptionists, every one was a credit to the Royal Surrey. Thank you for taking such good care of my daughter (and all of my children actually) from birth to puberty so far, the care has always been excellent!

I've been in numerous times in numerous departments. Our daughter has also been in as have both her grandparents and now her dad. Our joint illnesses have ranged from third degree tear at birth, 3 miscarriages, clicky hips, absence seizures (petit mal), tennis elbow, knee issues, diagnosing asthma, falls of both grandparents, collapsed lung.... Best hospital on the planet. If it were a hotel, I would give it 5 stars..... Should be used as a flagship hospital to show how good the NHS is. I really can't say anything more than this other than 2 words to all the staff at the Royal Surrey Hospital, paramedics, Loxwood doctor surgery and the NHS in general and that is......Thank You. Without you, I know 1 maybe 2 of us wouldn't be here.

I was in the Royal Surrey for 7 days back in January. Five of these days were in Intensive Care. The staff were OUTSTANDING. Regularly seen by Consultants, often way into the evening & nursing staff & physio staff genuinely cared, ensuring I received regular pain relief during my recovery. It was my first ever operation and time in hospital and I could not ask for anything more. Thank You - all staff are overloaded with work yet do so with a smile on their face and with the objective of making their patients better.

I just wanted to thank everyone at the RSH for the amazing work they do, iv been under this hospital for the last 10 months 2 operations an Countless scans an procedures, iv finally reach the end hopefully of my journey, an I think if it wasn't for the organisation, the expertise, kindness an careering attitudes of every individual I came across I don't think I would have recovered half as well as I have!! Not once did I feel anxious at what I was about to face, or if I did I was reassured an felt completely confident that I was in great hands,!! The 2 different teams I was under were outstanding!! The gastrectomy department an the ENT department. They have restored my faith in the NHS, so Thankyou very much.

User

I cannot praise the Royal Surrey Hospital enough for my recent stay there. I was seen by so many doctors, nurses, everyone. The staff were all very polite and helpful, the food was excellent, the ward was constantly kept clean, drinks were offered often. I came home feeling like I had just been on holiday. Thankyou all for such a wonderful service!

User

Had total knee replacement surgery on Monday - home today 😁. Still in lots of pain but have medication to help. Thank you Royal Surrey for looking after me.

User

Fantastic care from the midwives and all the team in the maternity unit. We had our baby girl on 13 June and the care and support we received from arriving to leaving the hospital was excellent. Thank you!

Please share my post I would love this Lady to see it. Spent the afternoon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital today. Annalise had another allergic reaction (she is fine now) we were sitting in the Major A&E section and whilst Annalise was resting I spent my time watching the staff at the nurses station. It was manic up there today and the staff were run off their feet. I sat watching one lady who I assume to be the Sister in charge of this area. She was amazing constantly interrupted to be asked about a patient, the phone kept needing to be answered, she had to find someone to send to a meeting and a poor lady was needing urgent treatment. This member of staff stayed calm and appeared unflappable.

When we were finally told we could leave I went over to her and told her who amazing she was. At this point she had tears in her eyes and another member of staff told me she really needed to hear my comment today.

So I say thank you and long live our great NHS and the wonderful staff who do an amazing job. Xxx

Afternoon spent in the nuclear medicine department for scans on my lower limbs. I went in 3 different scanners......slightly tricky when you have limited mobility. Staff though were very helpful, professional, kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I was allowed music playing whilst on the tables. My legs and arms were strapped into position to stop them from moving which could have been quite daunting but the staff put me at ease. The rooms are very cold which I gather is needed for the scanners. I was wrapped up in 3 blankets for my last scan so I was very warm and comfortable. I'm not the fastest due to my limited mobility. I didn't feel rushed. Please pass on my thanks to the staff.

Just returned from spending 3 weeks on Frensham Ward. I was looked after so well by all Drs and staff and made the duration of my stay as comfortable as possible after a very serious operation. Everywhere was always clean and tidy . And the Food was above average for a hospital. The hospital also has a nice M&S food shop and a large Costa coffee shop with lots of seating for patients and visitors.

User

Doctor and nursing staff are lovely and very attentive but the food on the wards is embarrassing! Cooked off site and re heated at the hospital-my mother has been in for over 2 weeks now and has had one acceptable meal! She’s had a couple of short stays at Frimley over the past couple of years and spoke very highly of their food. Sort it out Royal Surrey! A healthy diet goes along way towards a healthy body and a speedy recovery!

User

Fundamental lack of communication between departments, specialists only available for review 8am - 5pm Mon-Fri. Drug rounds missed often, ignore patient call bells. No explanation at all for above and staff get shifty / aggrevated when you push for answers. This is over several visits so not a one off. Witnessed Senior staff having a full on public meltdown because previous shift had done no paperwork and night team had no info to work on.

Wife just being discharged now . After two day of nothing but slow slow slow medical care. Been sterilised so they want to do pregnancy test .... Doc says on fluids from nine am but first lot wasn't administered until after 4pm. . Unable to administer regular medication as not stocked on the ward and couldn't gat any being a weekend?... ( did not take any with her as went through a&e ) will say staff very nice but since last June food has gone right down hill . Sort it out nhs.

User

Waited since January for the hospital and Doctors to sort me an appointment since January for 4 ingrown toe nails, it’s now April, my toe has gone black and and they only see fit to constantly hang up on me or lie and tell me someone will call me back (promises an urgent call back by 4 different people on at least 8 occasions! It’s disgusting, I do wonder how you’ll try and fob me off when I turn up Monday afternoon! You can’t hang up on my face! Legal action required I think! Black toes=very fucking bad!!!!!!!!

User

Sort your parking out please! Arrived at 10.40 for an 11.30 appointment for my daughter and she had to attend on her own as I drove round and round for over 40 minutes without finding a space. You need a one out one in system as people arriving at the car park after me were able to take advantage of spaces coming free before I returned to that part of the car park! If it had been my appointment I would have been unable to attend despite arriving with plenty of time.

My son was seen in a&e forn. a broken wrist and was put in a backslab and told tg.Hey would see him in a few days to put it in a plaster cast once swelling has gone down . When our appointment came through it was for four weeks later . The backslab is now loose and ineffective and he is in agony with a break that is Not properly supported and he just has to wait. I have tried numerous times to speak to someone about this without success . I should also mention the fact that his injury was from w high speed motorcycle crash and the hospital made none of the expected trauma checks whatsoever .

THIRD WORLD TREATMENT .

I was admitted by ambulance late last Thursday 19/4 and taken to a&e with severe lower back pain. I was put into a bay where I was left for a considerable amount of time before anyone even looked at me or offered pain relief. From where I was in my bay I could see the desk and all the nurses/healthcare assistants seemed to be doing was eating and playing with each other’s hair. I had to send my mum to ask for pain relief for me as was in a considerable amount of pain. A doctor eventually came to see me in the early hours who was very disinterested in me and didn’t really know what to say, he seemed more interested in looking around the room and not at me. I was later moved to a cubicle by what I can only describe as two imbeciles. Whilst trying to move myself onto another bed I ended up on the floor crying/begging for help as was in so much pain and these two (who presume were healthcare assistants) just stood there looking at me. I had to beg for gas and air which I thought was going to be the only thing to get me off my hands and knees on the floor and onto the bed. 10 minutes later they managed to get me some at which point I managed to get myself on the bed. I was then just left with no emergency button just gas and air to relieve my pain. Eventually I got off into a light sleep but to be woken by excruciating pain at this point I had to cry and shout for help. Some time later a nurse appeared and shouted at me to shut up as was waking the other patients! I asked her to please help me to which she went off and got me some pain relief then just left. I cannot believe the attitude of this nurse it was appalling. There was a woman in the cubicle opposite me who was crying because she was ‘fat’ and the nurses couldn’t do enough to comfort her!!?? And another woman who was crying and screaming because she was in pain was also comforted by the nurses and wasn’t left. Thank god the next morning this lovely nurse came on duty and I cannot thank her enough for how kind she was to me. I didn’t get her name but she bought me water (which at no point I was offered any by anyone else) She bought me some lunch and kept me up to date on what was going to happen with me. At no point was I seen by another doctor until late Friday night who wanted to send me home. At this point I was still unable to move off the bed or even stand. Around 10pm I was moved onto a proper ward where the staff were absolutely wonderful. I cannot fault their kindness. I spent almost 3 days on this ward without seeing a doctor but when the doctor did come (I had to be persistent in my asking) he apologised and said they didn’t know I was there as I had not been registered as being there! I am disgusted with Royal Surrey and I certainly won’t be going back in an emergency if I can help it!
