About Sadie Coles Hq

Sadie Coles HQ focuses on presenting the work of established and emerging international artists.

Sadie Coles Hq Description

Sadie Coles HQ opened in April 1997. The gallery focuses on presenting the work of established and emerging international artists. The gallery's inaugural exhibition of new paintings by American painter John Currin was mounted in parallel to a show by British artist Sarah Lucas, The Law, in St John Street. This established the international dimension of the gallery's programme. Sadie Coles HQ has operated from a variety of distinctive spaces since its inception, as well as mounting off-site projects in different locations.

‘As for AI, of course there are many fantasies about how automation can be applied to music-making to create sublime works of art… I’m interested in bringing it back to the foreground, not just as an aesthetic medium, but as a field that embodies the rupture that technology creates in culture.’

This is the final weekend to view, and consume, #DarrenBader’s fruits, vegetables; fruit and vegetable salad at the Whitney Museum of American Art New York.
‘[As] with all of Bader’s works, you can expect the salad to be served with a side of playfulness, provocation and a conceptual examination of the age-old question: “what does this really mean?”’

Chicken – A happening by Alex Da Corte
On 7th November 1962, #AllanKaprow presented a Happening titled Chicken, a farcical, carnivalesque performance incorporating several chicken-themed stations, many of them violent, which participants were invited to partake in.
Addressing the audience in a short prologue, Kaprow said, “I have conceived this Happening as the enactment of a comic-tragedy about ourselves, full of the utterly ridiculous and the painfully stark. These opposin...g qualities are contained in the several meanings we might attach to the work's title and its main symbol: chicken."
On Thursday 5th March 2020, #AlexDaCorte and #KateWatson-Wallace will reinvent Kaprow's Chicken in the same location it was originally performed, now known as the Gershman Hall of the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.
The performance is presented on the occasion of the forthcoming group exhibition, Invisible City: Philadelphia and the Vernacular Avant-garde at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia.
The event is free, however it is essential to book in advance: http://chicken-happening.org/

This is the final week to see #PaulAnthonyHarford. Real Life and presentations for #CONDOLondon at the Davies Street gallery.
'The scenes depicted in Real Life often tilt in this way from the everyday into the incongruous. Certain drawings incorporate surreal or violent elements that conjure a fable-like mood: a man is seen tumbling out of a hearse, clutching a stamped letter, while a vulture perches on his chest and claws at his face; elsewhere, the bonnet of a Rolls Royce e...dges out of a stately front door....'
The exhibitions are on view until Saturday 15 February 2020. Find out more: http://ow.ly/OHhr50yjH1Q
