Our Junior Keeper experience lets young animal lovers get up close and personal with Monkeys, Giraffes, Penguins, Emus, Lemurs and more! Junior Keepers roll up their sleeves and whack on their wellies to spend the morning shadowing one of our highly trained and friendly animal carers, helping muck out and prepare food, hand feed the animals and learn about each of them with a chance to ask lots of questions along the way.
... This brings us nicely into day 4 of our 7-day Super Giveaway! Up for grabs today our junior keeper experience worth £70 - and because we don’t want to cause family wars - not one, but TWO junior keeper experiences are up for grabs! And that’s not all, we’ll also be throwing in 2 adult admission tickets for you to enjoy the rest of the day in the park after the experience finishes, a total prize value of £168!

21 year old Male White Rhino Muzungu asked me for a favour today – Facebook control for 10 minutes, but his hooves are a little large for the keys! We agreed a deal – you tell me and I’ll type, so over to you Muzungu! 🦏
Me and my Africa House buddies overheard Deputy Animal Manager Kim getting a little excited the other day, something about “passing a DMZAA with merit”…....it left us wondering what this DMZAA she talks of is, so we investigated. Apparently a DMZAA is what the humans call a Diploma in Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals and a Merit is really really good! It’s really only putting on paper what we know already – that Kim looks after us so well, we really couldn’t be in better hands.
Congratulations Kim from the rest of us at Safari Zoo too, the 2 years hard work have paid off 😀.

A Big Welcome to Cameron!
Safari Zoo would like to welcome trainee Cameron to the keeping team. Cameron joined us as a volunteer last summer whilst studying for his level 3 Animal Management qualification and has gone from strength to strength, proving that he has what it takes to become an integral part of the keeping team long term. Having finished his Level 3 in Animal Management, Cameron will now be working alongside Africa team keepers Nick and Dani whilst studying for... his Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA), sponsored by Safari Zoo.
Do you want to be a Cameron? If you think you have what it takes to become a keeper here at Safari Zoo and start a promising career as an animal keeper we are launching an exciting new trainee programme based on the model which has proven so successful with Cameron. Starting with a 60-day volunteer placement, you will work closely with senior members of the keeping team, during which you will be monitored and evaluated. The programme will run with a view to becoming a fully-fledged member of the team, just like Cameron, for the right people.
If you are interested please send a letter of application telling us why you want to work with animals, and a current CV to office@safarizoo.co.uk
