Would recommend this hostel to wheelchair users! Staff is very friendly and room is very clean! Only problem for wheelchair users (for Edinburgh in general) is if you are not used to pushing yourself up and down the hill :)

Would definitely come back and recommend! Friendly staff, great facilities and so close to everything! ..and the smoke alarm works in the canteen (someone forgot their toast on!) Haha!

Wonderfully helpful staff! Conveniently located. Clean rooms. All around great place to stay! Even during Fringe, they get things done quick and are very organized!

We had a private room with twin beds (which I requested). I was surprised there were towels provided and tea making facilities. The room was an adequate size, good shower and bathroom and nice and warm. Oh, and the wifi worked really well too. Brilliant breakfast for £4.50. I'd totally recommend the "hostel" (I've stayed in worse hotels!) it's in a great position just off Cowgate too.

Stayed in Madrid and have to say it's the best place I've stayed. Amazing facilities, swings in the corridors (HIGHLIGHT), great location, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating to us! Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling, and will be back if I'm around again! �

Stayed here in Edinburgh for a night, with my dad, in a double bedroom with a private bathroom. Absolutely loved it!

It was really cold at this time, but the entire hostel was nice and warm at all times, including my room and the bathroom.

It’s a nice room, just fine for two people, with complementary tea and coffee, wich was really nice.

Everything was clean and tidy, fresh sheets and towels.

The hostel bar was really good, full of people having lots of fun.

The breakfest wasn’t the strongest, but it was still good and enjoyable.

Nice staff, very friendly.

There were people of all ages, families, friends and solo travelers.

I would recomend adding a place to hang coats in the room, but that’s pretty much all I’d say.

Stayed here during the Fringe 2014 and Edinburgh Tattoo with my bf and his two young children in a dorm for 4. We all loved it. Obviously more basic than a hotel but the atmosphere was brilliant, food and service excellent. Couldn't be handier for seeing everything Edinburgh has to offer. I would highly recommend this hostel.

Stayed at Elephant and Castle Safestay with 51 children for the past 2 nights, huge thank you to Jose the general manager for being so accommodating and sorting everything out for us 🖒

Perfect budget stay with the best of services and amenities, be it the rooms, beds, kitchen etc. In the town centre with the attractions nearby. Walkable distance from the bus station. Highly recommended.. Thumbs up! :)

The room was nice. There where stains on the matrices protector. The laundry could have a bit more cair. However the rest of the room was really clean and tidy. The kitchen was nice. Excellent location. Bar looked good. I will use this hostal again.

It was in a great location only 10 minutes from the station. We had a private room with bunk beds and an en suite. It was full of youngsters but I was there with my three grandchildren. Room was basic but clean. Towels provided and the breakfast was really good value. My grandchildren loved the experience and I would definitely go again. All staff really friendly and helpful.

Stayed at your hostel in Barcelona, safestay passeig de gracia from 19th-22nd. The first night was so scary that I moved to a different hostel and had to pay £70. The next day I decided to buckle up and face it. The hostel was so busy that the door did not work and me and roommates had to leave it ajar. When spoke to recoeption they would just give you a new key all the time. However was with violent roommate from Barcelona and two big loads of luggage. Roommates were scared of her. Would bang tables and scream ‘puta’. There was a rumour she was trying to break locks. I felt unsafe as a solo female traveller. I couldn’t wait to leave. However as I get home, my spare credit card is missing . I hate to make assumptions however £600 is missing off the card and has all been used in Barcelona. I am now contacting police.

On the 27th June I checked into Safestay Holland Park for the night. I was allocated a bed, given a key and paid in full for the bed. After going out for dinner I arrived back at the hostel at 2330 and went to my dorm to find all my belongings had been moved and someone was in my bed. I went down to reception to find out what was going on and was told that there had been a mistake and that they didn't in fact have a bed for me and were completely booked out. At midnight in the pouring rain I was made to find myself a new hostel without any compensation offered. When I suggested that the hostel pay for the taxi ride to my new hostel (which I found myself) I was flat out refused and told that if I wanted to complain or seek compensation that I could email their management. I left the hostel in tears which meant nothing to your employer.

For a company that call themselves "Safestay" it seems ironic that they had no issues kicking a 23 year old solo travelling female who'd never been to London before out of their hostel at midnight in the rain.

I have requested for the return of funds taken from my account 3 times and had NO response. I booked through booking. com which advertised 'free cancellation' of reservations. I booked on this basis. Then I received an email stating that this was not true. I immediately emailed reception and they informed me that if I cancel within 24hrs of making my booking then cancellation is free. I did it immediately (1hr after reservation) and have heard nothing since. I have emailed 3 times. Please respond.

I booked the meeting room at Elephant & Castle branch and it was double booked. Instead of providing a full refund or rebooking, they provided an area in the bar that I could have reserved free of charge. I contacted the manager (José) who apologised and offered a free booking to make up for this, but while arranging this he stopped responding to all correspondence (perhaps realising that this experience put me off from booking the room regularly any longer). I haven't been able to find any contact details to take this further and lost £72 because of this. Awful customer service.

Guys in Safestay, are you ok? When we came to the room our 2nd bed was busy, so we couldn't prepare for a sleep, we put our stuff on another bed. Water from shower just goes on the floor! No shower and it's connected with the toilet! It's so dirty, hair and water is everywhere on the floor! But the main - there is no water !! So I can't even use the toilet))

And for the dessert �- there are holes only for european chargers, and to get a changer you have to pay 4£��� Also it's really cold here and there is no telephone connection, only WiFi, but in the end it doesn't even matter)))
