Safestay London Holland Park

About Safestay London Holland Park

Safestay London Holland Park is ideally located in the heart of London. We cater for individual travelers, couples and groups.

Safestay London Holland Park Description

Set in the heart of one of LondonŌĆÖs most prestigious parks and close to some of the Capital's leading visitor attractions, Safestay London Holland Park is 368-bed hostel located within the East Wing of the original Jacobean building, Holland House, and also occupies the 1950ŌĆÖs extension, the private central courtyard and garden. Originally known as Cope Castle, this Grade I-listed building dating back to 1605 is rich in character and historical significance.
Safestay London Holland Park is the highly awaited third opening in luxury hostel brand SafestayŌĆÖs growing portfolio. Championing the ŌĆśaffordable chic' ethos, this safe, stylish and fun hostel will appeal to both the youth market and the ever-growing value-conscious traveller; from families and groups to flashpackers and business travellers. Rates at Safestay London Holland Park start from ┬Ż15. 00 per bed per night. Private rooms are available from ┬Ż75 per room per night.
As with the award-winning Safestay London Elephant & Castle and Safestay York, the design team has been careful to preserve the original aspects of this great heritage building, whilst putting SafestayŌĆÖs unique stamp on it. SafestayŌĆÖs trademark play on traditional fixtures and fittings with a modern twist is prevalent throughout. The design pays homage to the buildingŌĆÖs grand historical past however the interiors are contemporary and fitted to a very high standard with the latest modern amenities. Guests will feel local on arrival and one of the striking design features in the lobby in the listed East Wing is a ceiling embellished with used paint pots hanging upside down, the colours redolent of the many colourful and vibrant facades of the houses in nearby Notting Hill.

Within the 1950s building, Safestay have gone full tilt and boldly embraced the 50ŌĆÖs era with retro furniture, fittings, wallpaper and advertising posters. The reception features distinctive architectural lighting on the ceiling; hexagonal light clusters cleverly break up what was previously a characterless flat ceiling, without imposing on the sense of space. The ŌĆś50ŌĆÖs Sanderson inspired wallpaper complements the Safestay colours, as well as pulls on some of the foliage within Holland Park itself, bringing a graphic element to the space.

The pool room overlooking the garden has a bespoke digital wall-covering of the QueenŌĆÖs face made up of tiny photographs of London. Wallpaper featuring British stamps adorns one of the walls of the lounge adjoining the reception area.

The ground floor bar, which serves snacks and breakfast, is painted industrial chic black and features an entire wall of textured timber cladding and an exposed timber slatted ceiling. Clusters of light bulbs hang over the communal wooden tables. The room looks out onto the stunning landscaped garden; this has outdoor seating and heaters for the cooler months, and a beautiful pond with fountains.

The rooms at Safestay London Holland Park feature a range of accommodation offerings from private en-suite twin rooms, private single over double rooms, family rooms and larger all bunk rooms for groups. Most rooms are en-suite. Two of the rooms have private terraces and the top floor has an incredible view over the park. The twin bunk bed private rooms have tea & coffee making facilities and 40-inch plasma screen TVs.

All rooms have comfortable beds with premium mattresses, individual curtains for additional privacy, reading lights and plug sockets as well as lockers to secure luggage and personal items. Entry to the rooms is by touch key for added security.

Guests can take advantage of free WiFi throughout the hostel. There is a reception area, a bar and breakfast room, a pool room, a comfortable lounge, an Internet desk with three stations and a well-equipped laundry room.

Holland House, originally known as Cope Castle, is a Grade I-listed building of historical significance. The Architect John Thorpe constructed the building in 1605 for Sir Walter Cope who went onto be Chancellor of the Exchequer for King James I. The property later passed to Lord Ilchester , then the powerful Rich family and later the Fox family under whose ownership it became a glittering social, literary and political centre in the 19th century. Sir Walter Scott, Lord Byron, Benjamin Disraeli, Charles Dickens and the poet Addison were amongst the list of illustrious guests. The House was largely destroyed during the Blitz in 1940 and today only the East Wing and some ruins of the ground floor still remain.

With excellent transport links, Safestay London Holland Park is within easy reach of Holland Park tube, High Street Kensington, Notting Hill, Portobello Road, Westbourne Grove, and Westfield Shopping Centre. The hostel forms the backdrop for the open-air Holland Park Opera every summer and is well located for The Royal Albert Hall, The Natural History Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Science Museum, Kensington Palace and Hyde Park. The hostel is also well located for Notting Hill Carnival and the new Design Museum premises opening in 2016.

Safestay's Stuff is extremely helpful. Breakfasts are really good. And the atmosphere of a whole place is extraordinary. Thank you for an amazing experience.

User

Really great place! I strongly recommend it to backpackers. Just remember to take a padlock to ca┼éo┼ø─ć your belongings - you Can buy it at the frontdesk, but it's a bit expensive. :-)

User

One of the best hostels i've been to! Really great and nice Staff and nice people, good Coffee and perfect and beautiful location! Showers and bathrooms are clean and working, beds are good to sleep in, breakfast is good as well !

User

Immaculately clean (apart from toilets made dirty by some inconsiderate males, say no more)

Warm, up beat ,top location, great staff & newly refurbished ¤śŖ

Lacks a bar so 99% not 100% ¤śā

Only suggestion I would have. Sep male / female toilets / bathrooms this would be MUCH better.

Have booked again & would recommend ¤śŖ

User

Great stay with safety environment a little dark at night because you have to walk by the park but everything else is great.

User

An amazing stay, staff are great and so up beat. Any questions or queries prior to stay were dealt with great. Anything you asked was dealt with along with a smile and great service. The place itself is beautiful and handy for the tube etc.

Stayed in a private room which was much better than many 'hotels' in London I've stayed in. Will definitely be back and look forward to returning ! Give it a go as it's a stunning place to stay and the staff enhance the experience greatly ¤æŹ

User

Amazing location in the heart of Holland Park, staying in this historical Jacobean building, with fabulous views over the park, I got up at Sunrise to have breakfast with the peacocks and meditate in the Kyoto gardens before the tourists arrived, will definitely return, highly recommended.

User

Amazing Hostel! It looks like an artist's house in the middle of the park. Very quiet and clean. Colourful and particular style. I'll probably suggest it to all of my friends. Breakfast was good. Staff very kind. Rooms top. Holland park so close to bus stops and tube. Really appreciate!

Thank you ;)

User

Absolutely astonishing that I did not know about this sooner ! I will stay again, recommend to all and elephant and castle next time ! Then Edinburgh......

User

lovely location, nice helpful receptionist and a clean room with all the mod cons.

Unfortunately our room was under a dorm and next to the main entrance of the building and other guests sleeping in the room above us were very, very loud (is to be expected for a hostel I guess).

All in all a cheap but clean place to stay in the middle of kensington, for what it is definitely recommended

User

This hostel is one of the cleanest I ever been. It has an lovely design and very friendly and helpful staff.

The only two parts that I don't really enjoy is that you don't have a kitchen you can use or a special room where you could eat your own food. And the other part is that the showers will get everything wet except of the person who wants to shower.

But so far I am happy that I stayed here

User

Nicely located in front of Holland Park and in the centre of London. It is new and you sleep well. Not expensive at all.

User

My first experience in the hostel..

Was really good

The hostel it's very nice, everthing new ... Very beautiful and organised... About location it's perfect 5 minutes from the tube beside a park... The staff very kind and helpful.... The price was very good as well... Anyway the only bad it's about the way beside the park it's too dark... I'm a girl traveling alone and I was afraid of go out at night but was everthing really nice ’┐Į’┐Į

User

Lovely place, excellent and helpful staff. The only downside is that most of the toilet cubicles are so small that only people under 10 stone can get into them, let alone close the door. If it wasn't for that it would be 5 stars

User

Very very basic. It was very hot (cos of temperatures of 36 degrees in London on Wednesday 21st June). Bed comfortable. Shower water cold. Breakfast good. Didn't have an evening meal but those who did were severely underwhelmed.

User

I stayed here Tuesday night. All seemed ok until a mouse woke me up at 5.20 am rustling around. I didn't sleep after that and have been told it is normal for the hostel as it is in a park and told compensation is off the cards.

Can I have opinions on whether people think this is acceptable?!
