Very sad to hear that Mona Adams passed away today. I was proud to know her during her year as Deputy Mayor of @LBRUT - a role she fulfilled with great joy. Rest in peace, Mona, and in the affectionate memory of your many friends.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BalanceforBetter. Organisations worldwide will be celebrating women’s achievements and taking action in pursuit of a gender-balanced world.
The Liberal Democrat party has always been vocal in its commitment to gender equality, with our manifesto promising to fund more extensive childcare, and to expand the Equalities Act to require all large companies to publish data on gender balance.
This week, Liberal Democrat MP... Christine Jardine is launching her campaign in Parliament to remove the gender price gap -- the higher price women pay for products that are basically the same as their manufacturer’s similar product for men. Lib Dem MP Wera Hobhouse will introduce a bill to improve mental health care for new mothers by screening them for postnatal depression as part of their routine postnatal checks. And Lib Dem education spokeswoman Layla Moran has just introduced a bill on gender neutral school uniforms, to give all children the chance to dress in the uniform they feel most comfortable wearing.
Here at home, Richmond & North Kingston Liberal Democrats are working hard to engage more women in local government. We need to grow women’s participation from the ground up, so our voices will be heard in all areas of influence across the Constituency, Boroughs and the country.
