We’re full of random knowledge. Today’s Nordic facts from www.ScandiKitchen.co.uk:
1. In Norway, if you are left standing with your beard in the mailbox (Å stå med skjegget i postkassa) it means you have ended up in a stupid situation (possibly cheated into it).
2. The Danish alphabet has 9 vowels (a, e, i, o, u, y, æ, ø, å)
... 3. The Minecraft world-building video game was Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson’s hobby project. He called his company Mojang, which means “gadget” or ‘thingy’ in Swedish.

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram: www.instagram/scandikitchen.com
1. A douchebag in Swedish is a Skitstövel, literally a ‘crap boot’.
... 2. Saga Noren’s Porche 911S from 'The Bridge' sold last week at auction for £125,000 (all the money goes to WaterAidUK). This was three times the original estimate.
3. The Danish word ‘regne’ means both ‘to calculate’ – and ‘to rain’.

Vocab time.
Silly season - in Scandinavia referred to as 'cucumber time' in Denmark and Norway - Agurktid (NO), Agurketid (DK), dry season in Sweden - 'Nyhetstorka' (SE), and mätäkuun juttu - dog days - in Finland.
All of them denote a period of less interesting news - explained by some by the lack of big political or economic events, and others by the laziness (of journalists etc) that comes with warmer weather.

Thinking of Fredagsmys this Friday? Here are the 14 (unofficial) rules that must be followed.

User

Who loves KALLES? On offer this week, mm-mm! We tend to prefer it with eggs - but it is also popular with cheese and ... banana. True story. So much so that in 2007 you could buy tubes of Kalles Banana kaviar. Hmmmmmm.
Sidenote: Swedes are obsessed with banana and having banana and prawns (...and curry spice) on pizza is pretty standard.

The random facts are BACK!
Tuesday’s random Nordic facts from www.ScandiKitchen.co.uk
1. If a Dane says 'hot potato' he could mean simply a hot potato - or he might be referring to a tricky situation, (known as 'en varm kartoffel')! If someone is called a lucky potato (en heldig kartoffel), it means he's really, really lucky.
... 2. The largest ever game of musical statues was achieved by 1,079 participants in Helsinki in 2010.
3. Dancing Queen by ABBA was first performed at the pre-wedding gala of King Carl XVI Gustav and soon-to-be Queen Silvia of Sweden on June 18th, 1976. See it here: https://youtu.be/qk_Vu6AcbWg

Crispbread pizza. Have you tried it yet? We have. We were sceptical, we will admit, but no need to be. A ready made base that is both tasty and good for you. We prefer the original for this (in the blue pack) as it has the mildest flavour. Here's a simple recipe too! Perfect weekend treat.

User

We love the food. So glad I found Scandi Kitchen. The delivery is superb and we try and order every week. Keep up the good work.

User

This was my first visit to Scandinavian Kitchen, but it won't be my last. The food was delicious, friendly service and a really chilled ambiance. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

User

The naked sandwiches and shinny buns are enough to draw me in ❤️❤️❤️❤️Don't try to get me started on the stimulating coffee ❤️❤️❤️❤️

User

Quality services from the kitchen because of a delayed order. Didn't matter at all but still got a free cop of coffee and one kanelbullar! Beyonce excellent. High praises to Zack for a nive and lovely chat! Brillant dude :D

User

Originally went to order some bags of Tyrkisk Peber, bought loads of different salty liquorice sweets to try too and loved them all. Plus a deer-shaped cookie cutter. May have a new addiction to Salta Katten now.

User

One of the best shops in London for Scandinavian food. Lovely staff and an oasis for ex-pat Scandinavians.

User

My ordered food arrived, all in order, herring for breakfast , a while since last time

User

Love visiting Skadinavian Kitchen! Great selection of Norwegian food in the shop, very tasty treats in the cafe and always friendly & smiley staff

User

I really like Scandi Kitchen. I popped in for a Solo yesterday after my meeting. Shame I was too late for the cooked food. The selection of Nordic food in the supermarket bit is pretty good. Pleny of Norwegian brands which was what I was after. Lots of freia chocolate too. Tusen takk.

User

I always pop in to Scandikitchen for lunch and fika whenever I am in London. The food is excellent - my favourites are meatballs, kale and potatoes followed by cinnamon buns. The staff are very friendly and happy to chat ...great coffee and relaxed atmosphere. The shop is also great and I usually stock up on liquorice. I would highly recommend a visit...did I mention the cinnamon buns?....

User

Helpful and friendly staff explained some of the food choices. Lovely atmosphere in the cafe. Had my first ever Princess Cake, what a delicious and melt in the mouth experience. Search out this gem of a place, you won’t regret it.

User

Had wanted to visit for ages and finally made it this weekend! Loved the relaxed atmosphere, friendly welcome and free cheese! We had a selection of open sandwiches and salads - delicious. The coffee is very Swedish (ie very strong!) and complemented the cinnamon roll and semla cake. I loved the shop but sadly didn't have time to have a proper browse. But I will do next time! If only you had a shop in Bristol.....

User

Fantastic & friendly customer service , quick delivery ! Mange Tak Highly recommended

User

Everything went really well with my order.

I was very happy that you had pinne kjøtt in the first place, even if the price was slightly to high for me. I know there isn't much you can do about the price, it is what it is

Placing the order was easy, contacting you was easy, the delivery information I was given was great and I could track my order. Made me very happy and much less stressed

Tusen takk and God Jul og godt nytt år.

User

As always, 1st class service, I’ll be back for sure! Super friendly lovely people and very efficient service, keep up the good work!

User

Always great communications and really well packed! Frozen stuff is still frozen when ut arrives as of the ice blockes used. You guys are my Scandinavian food heroes here in the UK!!

User

A genuine smell of Sweden, as soon as you step in!🌹🤗

User

Such a nice place. Great quality products, a little overpriced but that’s to be expected. I love going there for a treat!

User

Ordered food for Christmas which arrived VERY late, in fact so late that we had to send someone out to panic buy items in Sweden and bring them over (we were lucky enough to have that option this time). The delivery company handling the order claimed to not have it, and SK had closed very early on Friday before Christmas so could not help in any way.

When the order arrived at the 11th hour several crucial items were missing despite being ticked off on the order form.

Bad communication, slow response, will not use again.
