Sea Containers London

About Sea Containers London

Sea Containers London. The remarkable South Bank hotel.

Sea Containers London Description

Situated on the banks of the River Thames in the famed Sea Containers building, Mondrian London uniquely offers river view balcony suites directly on the Thames. Working with Design Research Studio under the creative direction of renowned British designer Tom Dixon, the hotel captures the essence of the original building, exuding 1920s cruise ship glamour integrated with the modern twists and sophisticated design for which the Mondrian brand is known.

Guests will immediately be drawn to the giant, copper clad wall inspired by the hull of a ship, running from outside the building, through to the lobby and on to the river side of the hotel. Experience underwater tranquility and specialised treatments at agua Bathhouse & Spa, sample delicious food using locally sourced ingredients at Sea Containers restaurant, where outdoor seating along the river walk is also available, and sample innovative cocktails from Mr Lyan at Dandelyan with its iconic green marble bar and dramatic views of the Thames.

The most glamorous of spaces is our rooftop bar, Rumpus Room, with its glass box structure and outdoor terrace, featuring panoramic views over London. Uniquely reflecting the urban feel of the Southbank neighbourhood, Mondrian London is within walking distance of landmarks such as Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, the National and Globe theatres, as well as Borough Market and the London Eye.

Yet another fantastic stay! Food brilliant, fabulous drinks in beautiful bar, beautiful suite with river view balcony. The overall service and experience was great, especially Steven on the front desk, great chap! We‚Äôll be back again soon! Thanks To all ÔŅĹÔŅĹÔŅĹ

We stayed on the Mondrian for one night and had such a wonderful stay! The room boasted a beautiful view over the Thames and our bed was so ridiculously comfortable that it was hard to drag ourselves out of it to make the check out time!

Whilst we were there we also ate dinner at the Sea Containers restaurant within the hotel. I cannot even begin to offer my appreciation for the staff at Sea Containers because as a vegan, there's not much choice on the menu, however, the staff there made every effort to adapt each dish to suit my dietary requirements, which was lovely!

If you're looking to treat yourself or a loved one to a night away in the city, then I thoroughly recommend booking a stay here. ūüŹ©

Stayed here for a few nights over the Christmas period.

Beautiful hotel, attentive staff and a fantastic location. Received a complimentary bottle of champers on arrival, which was a lovely touch to help celebrate a special occassion!

The upgrade to the river view deluxe rooms is well worth it and be sure to check out the Rumpus Room Rooftop Bar.

Will definintely return here next time I stay in London. Thank you to the staff for a very pleasant stay!

User

Literally the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Gutted to be home now! Thanks to all the amazing staff for your hospitality. Would highly recommend!!!

User

I won two tickets to the BAFTA's, which also included a night at the 5* Mondrial Hotel. We got there just after 14.00 but could not get into the room till 15.00. When we went to our room it was lovely. All the staff we spoke to were all very helpful and pleasant. As we were out on the evening, the only time we used the restaurant was for breakfast and our only gripe was it took a long time and a second request for a cup of coffee for my friend.

User

I stayed here on a business trip in January.

I arrived very early, having made a overnight flight from the USA.

A huge thanks to the staff for getting me into a room early.

I had little free time, but from the hotel it is an easy walk to the Blackfriars underground station, the Globe theater, The London Eye, Parliament, and a number of restaurants.

User

I stayed at this hotel for business reasons for 2 days. The people working there are kind and always available if you need help. The room was very cozy and the food was grand.

I liked having a drink at the top floor the last evening. Amazing view! To whoever is going to stay at this hotel, give it a try!!!

Thanks to the staff for the kindness and your time. I really enjoyed staying there and I hope to come back soon.

User

I stayed at the Mondrian back in January for one night and was incredibly impressed with both the room and the service received. Also had some drinks in the Rumpus Room and not only were the cocktails delicious but the views over London were insane. I will definitely be returning in the future!

User

Had a 2 night stay here last week and what can I say? What an amazing hotel!

All the staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast was lovely and the room, top quality!

Keep up the good work, guys!

I will be back in the near future! ūüėÄ

User

We stayed for the night on 12/5/18 and have to say the hotel was lovely, we stayed for my partners birthday and returned to the room to find a lovely card and bottle of wine, only slight gripe was at breakfast being told initially that outside was closed, however another member of staff then informed us it’s never closed and you can sit where you want, therefore we did get breakfast on the Thames. Would recommend and return, Thank you Mondrian.

User

The hotel itself is fine with nice rooms and lovely staff. The prices eg £20 for breakfast are very high, even for London, and don't make the mistake of ordering a coke in the bar..double the price for a 200ml bottle. What has really annoyed me is being charged a £100 per night, for "incidentals", that I might charge. I could understand £100 for a week. Never before has that happened. Maybe I mix with the wrong crowds.

User

We stayed for 2 nights for a relaxing weekend and didn’t get what we wanted. We both had massages at the spa (therapists were lovely) after our massage when we were zoned out and half asleep and wanted to go back to our room we were told the main lift wasn’t working and to use a different lift which took us straight up to the rumpus room into a Christmas party that was happening - which was a huge shock to the system and quite embarrassing as everyone was very dressed up and we obviously weren’t. Not a good experience.

The hotel’s location is good, however on all other levels the hotel is poor compared to other to good hotels I have stayed in. Breakfast is a buffet and if you want a second cup of tea or coffee you have to pay extra.

User

Very impressive lobby and reception area and welcoming staff. Booked a superior room and upon entering the room it was quickly realised we was given a disabled friendly room. Trip back down to reception to explain and we was quickly changed, why didn’t they just give us this room in the first place and save the hassle? The room itself was nothing more than average, it was clean and tidy but it was the little things that was lacking for a hotel of this price. Lack of wine glasses, very poor shower and a very restless night sleep as it was far too hot. It seems they were more interested in up selling items in the room ie. bed sheets, room scent, candles than actually providing the amenities that the room lacked. Overall, it’s a good location but have stayed in far better hotels of similar price in London so was left a little disappointed.

User

Lovely decor but terrible service. We tried all 3 bar areas and couldn't get a seat even though we were hotel guests and loads of tables were empty. Then even if we wanted to stand we still couldn't get to the bar to order a drink. We gave up and went elsewhere. My first 5* hotel room with instant coffee and milk portions unlike most with Nespresso now. Very dissapointing experience. We will stick to the Langham.

User

We had a near identical experience with your car parking charges as the guy whose review I read; were given to understand your valet would park my dad's car as a courtesy, with my old dad ended up being threatened with the non return of his car keys if he didn't pay £30 for about an hour's worth of parking. Just a revolting racket to squeeze even more money out of unsuspecting guests.

User

We booked into the Seacontainers restaurant for a Thanksgiving meal (they had put on a special menu). With the Rumpus Fooms closed for a private event we were offered a space in the ‚ÄėDen‚Äô area for drinks beforehand but the drinks service was so poor that after 35 minutes I had to ask for a waiter to come to us (it was table service only - if there had been a bar of course I would have ordered for myself no problem), and then I had to enquire about our drinks after another 15 mins or so!

The service at the table didn’t get any better - it was so poor that we asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. Quite simply the poorest dining experience I’ve had in as long as I can remember, let alone at a top hotel. The food was ok but the portions were so parsimonious as to be laughably mean. Most definitely NOT recommended.

User

Visited the downstairs bar this Saturday evening with my friend for a drink, and it was the worst experience ever. We've been told that the place is fully booked and we will be seated as soon as any table becomes available. We ordered drinks and it did not seem that this will happen any time soon. Just in front of us there was a couple sitting at the table with 4 chairs and two were available, so we decided to ask them if they don't mind us joining them, they said - absolutely, feel free. So we did. After 2 minutes one of the staff members approached us and said that we cannot join a reserved table even if there's free space. We explained that we're here just for a drink and the people don't mind, as we asked them. The lady said fine and went to get her manager. So a second person from the staff came over and asked us to stand up as it's their 'policy'. We said the same thing, that we asked and they don't mind. In another two minutes a security guy came and said that if we don't stand up, we need to leave. This was just unbelievable. What if we are friends of those people , can we not join the table? OR if we meet at the bar the same night, should we still stand whilst they are sitting? Couldn't recommend this place less. Beautiful location with the worst customer service.

Supposed to be a luxury Hotel, I have stayed in better budget hotels in Germany and they couldn't hold a candle to Hong Kong hotels. The room was below average, cheap pot mugs for dreadful tasting tea, 'milk and cookies' as part of the family package was one glass of milk and two cookies for TWO children.Childrens films were non existent. Room was small and stuffy, no opening windows, the weather was very hot and the air con inadequate, have they not heard of refrigerated air con? The view of the river was wonderful, but we had to climb on chairs to see it. The finale was breakfast, truly the WORST i have ever tasted, all lukewarm, dried up tasteless bacon, strange tasting mushrooms, no choice of eggs only scrambled eggs which I hate, cheap sausage,it was revolting and we left it all. Cheap pastries for the children. even the coffee was dreadful.. So glad we didn't have a meal there, the prices on the menu were eye popping. Breakfast cost us £25 each, if they had any decency they would refund us. My daughter paid a fortune for a wonderful experience, my advice is never stay here.

User

If you go for a drink at the roof top bar, keep an eye on the barmen / women. Charged £1.50 for each bottle of mixer, yet they only put a splash in your drink and then put the rest of the bottle in an ice bucket for the next customer, also charged £1.50! Oh and the £4.00 service charge is an absolute rip off!! If it was table service I’d have no problem, but £4 to pass me a drink over the bar?? Scandalous
