Seitou Ryu Karate Wickford

Good classes at the Wickford dojo last night. 👌🏼 As we did a lot of sport kumite on Tuesday we got heavily into some kata yesterday. Really pleased with how hard the juniors are working, especially in their “kata off”, everyone showing good improvement on both technical and athletic levels. Our assistant instructors did a superb job with the beginners, building them up with high energy levels throughout. It really pleases me to see them teach with so much enthusiasm. Nice Seiyunchin demo at the end too. Looking forward to seeing how much more they improve over the next couple of months in the lead up to the gasshuku.

Competition kata practice at the Wickford dojo.

Superb classes at the Wickford dojo this evening. A busy one for the Easter holidays so everyone got a big amount of competition specific training in in preparation for the SRK Spring Open Championships next month. Excellent development on their kata performances in both the junior and adult classes. Finished up in the junior class with some tamashiwari (board breaking) whilst the adults worked on some group training with a competitive edge.
Also a huge thank you to the SRK Foundation for Achievement in Sport for their generous gift of Easter eggs for all of the junior students this year. Everyone was very surprised and very appreciative. Thank you! 🐣❤️☺️

Brilliant classes at the Wickford dojo tonight. Circuit pad work for the juniors, working on a large variety of striking and kicking combinations. Excellent efforts all round. In the adult class we focused on some classical goju kumite movements to start, moving onto some practical application work, increasing range and accuracy for low kicks before getting some solid time on the pads. Good progress by all on breaking the line, attacking by combination and use of shut down techniques. Well done all!

Good efforts all around by our Wickford dojo juniors this week. Well done to these champions on earning their mon grades and to everyone who was put forward to attempt their next belt at the grading tests next week! Train hard and do your best!

Good work by our young beginner group last night. Always improving and getting one step closer to their next grades. Pre-assessments are next week so be sure to practice your techniques at home and get to class early if you need some extra help before the main lesson begins and one of our instructors will be there to help you.
