Wisdom to live by! This week, seeing a play set in the Calais jungle set us thinking about what more we can do to help in the world, with the number of refugees growing all the time. We feel so grateful that we live in London, a bubble of people from all over the world living in peace. But really, this quote by Rumi is a reminder that helping others is almost the sole reason we are here. Even if we help in a small way, it would be good to overcome our usual London-y excuses of being too busy & not having enough time! Do you help others? How do you find time? Food! One of the highlights of our Jewish history tour of the City of London for a group from Schroders. The tour ended with a talk at the beautiful 1701 Bevis Marks Synagogue (with kosher food provided by Zest from JW3). Would you agree that food is an essential part of any journey/tour/travel experience? Or is it just us being greedy?!

Reporting a rare night out! Visited a newish local vegan restaurant (the Comptoir V in Kensal Rise) last night. The flavours were incredible. Lots of Moroccan influence - with bread served in a Fez and delicately spiced tagines - but also lots of influences from the Middle East, Iran and more. Makes my mouth water thinking about it even now! Even the chocolate-hummus desert (yes, I know, what?!) was fabulous. And I'm not a vegan.

My family has its own story. My own grandfather changed his Jewish-German sounding surname Baum to Bourne to avoid anti German hostility when he served in the British Army in the 1940s.

After a busy day yesterday, with tours of Little Italy & Jewish London I'm away from the streets of London on Hampstead Heath today with my not-so-little wolf-dog, Biscuit. It's wonderful to have so much green space so close to the city. I love it at this time of year! What do you love most about London?
