What a lovely hotel, we booked this hotel for two nights as we got married at the Old Blacksmiths Shop on the 4th May 2018. We arrived on the 3rd May and found reception to be very welcoming and helpful, our room was fully made up on arrival and beautifully decorated (thank you), even though we were early there were no issues with check in. We met with the wedding planner later on and they provided answers to any questions we had and put us at ease. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the food provided was of a high standard, breakfast the following morning was plentiful with a wide range of options.On the day of the wedding planner provided my fiancee with assistance with her dress as it was jut the two of us and there were many buttons, which gave me chance to sample a nice single malt at the bar, lol.

The wedding at the Old Blacksmiths Shop was absolutely wonderful, from the greeting, service, registrar, photographer and the kind and lovely witnesses. The wedding meal in the private alcove was everything we could imagine.

We would like to say a very big thankyou to all the staff at Smiths Hotel and The Old Blacksmiths shop for making our day such a special one.

What a lovely hotel, we booked a wedding package which included 2 nights staying in Smiths and it was incredible. Our room was perfect, we enjoyed the buffet breakfasts and our wedding meal was delicious. The hotel is perfectly located for the Blacksmiths shop where we had our ceremony and the in-house wedding planners had everything arranged making for a stress free wedding. Thank you!

Went to our son's wedding (Neil Emmerson) yesterday 9th August and what a brilliant day. Loved every minute from the wedding to the reception and the overnight stay. Everything was perfect, the room we had was lovely the food was lovely - what more can I say. Apart from the fact that we gained a brill daughter in law, Tiff x

We were married in the Blacksmiths on the 10th May and stayed in Smiths. From start to finish it was fantastic. Everyone was so helpful . The food was fab and big thanks to the girls in Spoilt for looking after me. I would highly recommend to everyone for a stress free special day .... can't wait to cone back

We got married at the Blacksmith Arms and stayed here. Great location. Reception area was lovely and made to feel very welcome from receptionists. Room was amazing with baloncy. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner and we couldn't fault food at all. The bar staff were also very quick and friendly. We had a fabulous service from arriving and leaving. Stayed here for 2 nights in July 2018 when we got married at the Old Blacksmiths Shop. Everything was smoothly organised for us. The hotel and restaurant are superb and the wedding at the Blacksmiths was perfect. Thanks to the hotel staff, the staff at The Blacksmiths, the registrar, photographer and to our witnesses.

Myself and my wife arrived at the Smith’s at Gretna hotel on Wednesday 1st August and first impression was very good. Our room with a balcony was fantastic, and the food and service was amazing. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re staying at Gretna or as a stop off as you make your way north.

We booked our blessing through the hotel and they organised the Famous blacksmiths shop which was an amazing experience which we cannot thank them enough.

My wife and myself cannot thank the hotel and planning team enough. The hotel and staff are perfect and cannot do enough to make our guests and ourselves enjoy our wedding day.

And a thank you to the wedding planning team it was perfect and went like clockwork

Me and my partner got married at the blacksmiths on Monday and it was amazing. We stayed in the penthouse suite for 2 nights which was beautiful and well worth the additional cost. All staff within the hotel, at the blacksmiths and in spoilt salon treated us like we were the only quests they had. Would definitely recommend staying and will be returning very soon.

Me & my husband have just returned from Gretna were 10 years ago we got married. - after a nightmare where we moved hotels: we booked (last min) to stay at the smiths hotel which if we hadn’t & had stayed in the gables hotel we would not of returned to Gretna again. - after staying at the smiths hotel we plan on making it a yearly visit- the welcome on arrival was great, staff friendly, room was above our expectations; clean - modern - spacious - well equipped. The Bar; friendly staff - nice cocktails - cheap prices. Restaurant; food was lovely, great service & we was actually shocked when we received the bill as we expected to pay a lot more. Thanks to the smiths hotel they have restored our faith in Gretna & we won’t be leaving it 10 years to come back- see you soon & thanks probably one of the best all around hotels we have stayed.

I've had such an amazing wedding over the weekend. I got married at the Blacksmiths and had the reception in the Hardwicke room. My wedding coordinator was Abbey who was fantastic as she dealt with all my questions leading up to the wedding and on the day. The service was great and the bar staff in the room were very attentive and excelled at their job. The rooms were excellent and everyone in my party was impressed. We will definitely come back on our anniversary. Lindsey and Andy xx

Everything from start to finish was fantastic we went to the Smith's Hotel on 26th June 2017 to maybe book our wedding for October. Everyone was so helpful and we didn't have no appointment or anything and after meeting with Ashley and having a tour around we decided to go ahead and book. Wedding was booked for 23rd October 2017 we had an amazing package at a great price which included bedrooms etc. we had the Ash Suite and I could have lived in that room forever it is fabulous with a massive balcony. Everything on the day was perfect we were married at the Blacksmiths at 3.30pm and Ashley even got all our guests together on the day and saw them over to the Blacksmiths then rang me in the room to say I could now go over as my guests had gone she was amazing. Everything at the Blacksmiths went great then we came back to Smith's Hotel where we had the Hardwicke Suite for our meal etc. The staff on duty were fantastic and our barman looked after us all night. There was 23 of us in total and after everyone had spent 2 nights here everyone had a great time and they want to do it all over again which is great for us as we done something last minute and something a bit different but everyone loved it. The layout of the hotel is great and you don't get bothered you can sit and relax which was great for our wedding party as no one really knew each other so it was nice to sit and chat. I would do it all over again and wouldn't change anything as everything was perfect thank you so much for making our wedding day special and a day we won't forget.

Absolutely loved our wedding at Gretna Green. Cannot recommend Smiths Hotel more all the staff/bar staff were more than helpful and made everything run smooth from start to finish. Especially our wedding coordinator on the Saturday who looked after us in our function room (sorry didn't get he's name) he was more than helpful and nothing was to much when we asked. We all traveled up from Essex and had the best weekend. Thank you for everything. We will definitely come back to visit xxx

Had two fabulous days in Smith's hotel, fantastic staff who could not have done more to make sure our stay for ourselves and guests. Food well not one complaint. Very hard to accommodate everyone but NO complaints from our party. Rooms, well again praise for domestic service. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay one to remember. Will recommend to everyone I know. Well done x

Lovely bar and restaurant with good quality food. A little overpriced and was expecting a little more for the money. Make sure you book a taxi well in advance if you are attending a wedding - we had to drive to our own ceremony due to no taxis being available and the hotel didn't offer a service to take us to Gretna Hall (which was a 2min drive away). I was a little disappointed in this to be honest. Make sure you check that the TV/Electronics work in the family room as the DVD player did not when we arrived. Very late check in times (3pm) means that you have to pay an additional fee to get into your room - not great if you have a wedding to attend.

Overall, a plush hotel but not quite hitting the mark for the cost and reputation.
