The Sportsman Will be closed from 12th March ( Monday) and re open the evening of 21st March (Wednesday). We have some major maintenance to be carried out. Hi All sorry to say but we will be closed tonight 1st March from 5 pm due to our staff unable to get into work and the adverse weather conditions! We would rather our staff be safe then trying to get in and into danger travelling.

We had a phone call tonight asking if we are closed indefinitely ??? very shocked at this, but after some research People are getting us mixed up with a pub with a the same name some where in Derbyshire that has posted they are closed but will now be opening up again very soon Hope this puts everyone’s mind at rest ... Hi All we will be open Tuesday evening 4th April and Wednesday evening 5 th April at 5pm for drinks only ! We were made very welcome (dog too). Great value (large) lunches. Soup and sandwich very tasty and filling. Nice atmosphere. Very close to campsite too. Will definitely be paying another visit.

We went tonight for a meal, the owners and staff were brilliant and very attentive... the food was really excellent and they also cooked me a vegan meal which was gorgeous. Definitely going back again with our dogs as they’re allowed in... highly recommend to everyone.

We have just had Sunday lunch at the Sportsman’s , the food was beautiful. My husband and I had roast beef dinner and our daughter had cheese burger , chips and salad . We then indulged in hot chocolate fudge cake and cream and raspberry cheesecake. The staff were lovely and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble .

Thankyou for a lovely afternoon, we will definitely be returning . �

We had such a lovely 21st meal last night at The Sportsman Hayfield. Colin and his staff were so accommodating, making sure we had a great night the food and service was FANTASTIC thank you so much Colin and your staff for a fabulous night.. We had done a walk in the area in memory of a special lad, my 1st time and l hope to be back, the chicken curry was lovely good service clean and tidy

Warm welcome, we hadn't booked and the staff did all that they could to get us a table and we had a lovely meal, great food, atmosphere and friendly staff, we and the dog loved it.

This was the second time we have been here and one of the best pubs around. Food is fantastic and my wife loves the blood orange Gin.. Staff really friendly and do smaller portions for the kids. The pie is yummy. See you again soon.

Lovely meal on 25/09/15. Great to have our local back to a bustling and buzzing place. Friendly staff and fab food - black pudding, bacon and poached egg salad - nom nom nom! Keep up the good work Sporty, pleasure to become acquainted with you again !

If you want to visit a lovely pub with great beer & great food and wonderful staff the sportsman has it all .

Fitted us in at the last minute , food and service were exceptional.. looking forward to going back tomorrow to try the roast !

Fabulous fish and chips, best batter I ever tasted. Parmaham wrapped goats cheese is definitely a copy cat recipe. Thanks from the 14 pax long table with dog ;)

Enjoyed a walk around Kinder and then hot drinks and lovely food at the pubs. Dogs welcome too, so this was great for us. Excellent and friendly service!

Clean and cosy pub/ restaurant. Good selection of foods at reasonable prices. Nice range of beers and lagers. Staff are curtious and helpful. Nice place to sit after a long day walking.

Camping with my 16 year old lad and dog (4 yrs). Lad wanted wi-fi, I wanted pint, dog wanted walk. This pub is perfect, close to camp site, wi-fi, excellent beer. Welcoming staff, friendly locals and fellow campers. Not tried the food but others seemed to be enjoying that too.

Called in late Bank Holiday and welcomed ( including the dog) by very friendly staff. Unfortunately not serving food but was given a recommendation. Stayed for drinks and chatted to the locals including the very pleasant and personable manager/land lady. Excellent decor and atmosphere and will certainly go back to try the restaurant.

A first class pub with first class food. We eat there often. Highly recommended to all.

Seven of us on a Tuesday night great food and atmosphere only thing I would add is could have done with a couple of more veggie options but overall really good and would Defo recommend

Staff friendly. Nice setting. Cozy pub/restaurant. My wife had the cheese and onion pie. It was a bit dry. The chips were also dry. I had the chicken curry, hot! It wasn't overly hot but was nice of the Chinese style curry. It tasted home cooked and the half rice, half chips was a great result. My chips were dry too but I was drench them in the curry sauce. The curry came with a popadom and naan bread. The naan bread was pretty inedible. If you can get a table it's handy if you are camping .5 of a mile down the road.



We're currently down the road at the Pack Horse which, at first impressions, seems much better.

4 had Sunday roast had to ask for more veg meal could have been hotter one asked for it to be put in the microwave to re heat it
