A very busy yet most enjoyable month of May at St George's: here are some lovely photographs from recent services and the half-term holiday meeting of our "Messy Church”. Our two youngest readers at Mass are also featured: Emily needed a slight "boost" in height to enable her to read the lesson!

Here are a selection of photographs from the Holy Triduum, from Maundy Thursday to Easter Day - a special time during which we followed the Lord from the Last Supper, through his Crucifixion, to the Resurrection on the third day. Alleluia! Christ is Risen!!

Our preparations for Easter take place in earnest this morning, as the church is cleaned and decorated for the coming celebrations.
Easter begins with this evening's Vigil at 8pm, which is followed by fireworks, and feasting in the Hall. Tomorrow, a quiet Mass of the morning will be celebrated first at 8am, before the Mass of the Day at 10.30!
We look forward to welcoming all of our friends to this very special service, in which Easter eggs will be blessed and distributed, as well as hunted for in the churchyard! A sparkling reception will follow afterwards in the Hall.

We look forward especially to seeing you on Easter Day, with Masses at 8am and 10.30am. During the 10.30am Mass, our children and young people will be invited to take part in an Easter Egg Hunt in the churchyard, as also to receive a complimentary Real Easter Egg at the end of Mass. This service will be followed by sparkling refreshments in the Hall. With the promise of bright sunshine and warm temperatures, complete the perfect weekend by celebrating a traditional Easter with us at St George's Church!

Today is Maundy Thursday, the beginning of the "Sacrum Triduum". We gather for Mass at 8pm, during which we remember the Institution of the Eucharist during the Last Supper. An augmented choir will support our worship, at which also we welcome into church the new Oils blessed by Bishop Norman at his Chrism Mass in Canterbury on Tuesday. After Mass, we gather in "Gethsemane", at the altar of repose, to maintain the Watch of the Passion until midnight. Compline will be recited at 11.50pm, and the Gospel of the Arrest read at the end of the evening.
