Join us for our next Messy Church on Sunday November 25th, 2:30pm-4:30pm in the Community Rooms, Little Downham. There will be crafts, games, a story, songs and we'll end by eating tea together.

A huge thank you to everybody who attended and participated in our Remembrance service today. Over 140 people of all ages and stages packed into the church to remember those who gave their lives for us. Special thanks to Councillor Anna Bailey and Councillor Lorna Durpre for reading in our service, to Town Crier Avril Hayter-Smith for delivering the 'Cry for Peace' and to Jo Waters of the Parish Council for unveiling the new plaque to mark the Little Downham Airfield. We a...re also extremely grateful to the Rainbows and Brownies for their very active involvement in the service - leading us in a poem, laying wreaths and the lighting candles to remember those who had died from the village in battle. Finally, we are still in awe of the thousands of knitted poppies that were produced and used to produce such a poignant tribute for the Armistice Centenary. This display was supplemented very impressively with beautiful artwork from each class at Little Downham Feoffees Academy and Jellytots. In times of uncertainty, we can take great courage in the way that our village has pulled together to mark this very important occasion. We hope that the community spirit, generosity and hospitality that were so evident today continue to be seen in Little Downham in the months and years ahead!

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY - 11TH NOVEMBER 2018
This year’s Remembrance Sunday service at St Leonard’s, Little Downham will start at the earlier time of 10.40 so that the two minutes silence can be observed at 11 am at the War Memorial in the churchyard.
This year’s service is special for several reasons:
... - The First World War ended with the signing of the Armistice exactly one hundred years ago - 11 am on 11th November 1918. - 2018 is the centenary year of the founding of the Royal Air Force. - Those taking part in the service will include members of the Brownies, the Ely Town Crier and members of the District and County Councils. - At the end of the service the new plaque commemorating the Little Downham Airfield will be dedicated.
