About St Mary Islington

St Mary's is one of the Church of England's most historic parishes. Today we're a church of different people, a community of all ages, living out our calling to follow Jesus and to serve God in the midst of Islington.

St Mary Islington Description

Our church is at the heart of Upper Street, between Angel and Highbury Corner and we love our exciting parish. But don't think that we're trying to be just another stylish venue.

We're here for people. For all the people who live, work, and enjoy themselves in our neighbourhood, offering them the opportunity to connect with God in a busy world.

To get the full picture, become part of the story yourself. Contact, connect, discover and make a difference.

Would you like to lead a church in a dynamic inner-city parish where someone new walks through the door every day?
We are looking for an inspiring leader with a heart for ministry in the inner-city who embraces challenges as opportunities and who can help us realise the potential we have to grow - in numbers and in faith.
St Mary’s is a welcoming, diverse, outward-looking church, committed to an active role in serving our local community. We celebrate our long-standing Open E...vangelical tradition and are ready to take some risks and explore new ways to put our faith into action.

Service for the whole family. Join together to celebrate what Christmas is really all about. You'll be home before noon - plenty of time to peel the vegetables or hunt down Islington's last jar of cranberry sauce.

When the streets fall silent, the buses stop running and London is all still, join us to worship in the first communion of Christmas. Celebrate a saviour born to bring hope and peace.

User

Bring your small shepherds, angels and wise men and women to this hilarious re-telling of the Christmas story. Come in costumes and fill St Mary's with laughter, song and the joy of Christmas.

User

We'll be singing the best-loved carols and filling the church with little flames when we put together our famous do-it-yourself Christingle kits during the service.

User

St Mary's biggest service of the year. With hundreds of candles, the best-loved carols and our fabulous classical choir, it's the perfect way to hear the Christmas story through scripture readings and song.

Thank-you for making me feel so welcome on Sunday 7th September at the 11 am communion service. It was lovely to take part and share in worship with you all! I enjoyed the mix of music (traditional and modern), the bible-focussed talk and the warmth and friendliness of the congregation. Special thanks to Helen, Angie, Christine and the ladies serving refreshments! Hope to see you all again when I next visit the capital, and get to know more of you! Love and God bless, Jonathan, Manchester
