Stepping Out Description
Amanda Holden heads one of the starriest casts ever to have stepped out on the British stage in this wonderfully funny and heart-warming comedy which charts the lives of seven women and one man attempting to tap their troubles away at a weekly dancing class. Initially all thumbs and left feet, the group is just getting to grips with the basics when they are asked to take part in a charity gala…
Over the course of several months we meet the group, and all of them have a story to tell. There’s haughty Vera, mouthy Maxine and uptight Andy; bubbly Sylvia and shy Dorothy; eager Lynne and cheerful Rose and, of course, Geoffrey. At the piano is the dour Mrs Fraser and spurring them all on, the ever-patient Mavis.
Directed by triple Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman, the cast includes Tracy-Ann Oberman, Tamzin Outhwaite and Nicola Stephenson.

What a great show, so funny but quite thought provoking too ! Each character in the play is so very similar to the different characters in my tap class. Things the teacher says and the actions of the pupils is so similar to a real amateur tap class. Loved it well done ;-)
Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Laughed out loud throughout. Not just the stars that shone but Jessica-Alice McCluskey also. Well worth a visit if you want a good show with some laughs and dancing.

I am so pleased that I have seen Stepping Out from the very start at the opening show in Bath where Maria Friedman announced it was the first show with the full set & props! It was brilliant & funny!! I then had to see it in Richmond & Cambridge! Loved seeing the improvements & changes! I now want to take up tap dancing!! I cannot resist seeing it in the west end!! Proud of Amanda & the whole cast!!! AMAZING!!!!!! � XX
Fantastic!! The cast were superb and the show kept very much to the original film with some of the great memorable one liners! Funny yet with a beautiful storyline of friendships. Amanda Holden and all the cast captured the characters beautifully. It made a great change from an all singing all dancing musical. As a dance teacher with an adult tap class I can also relate which made this show even funnier!
Absolutely loved this - so funny yet so poignant at same time. And so true to life in an amateur adult tap group - if you belong to one you will find it even funnier. Highly recommend
Absolutely blown away by this play. We went with no knowledge of the story or film and really loved it. Fantastic cast and so many laughs, would really recommend it and we will be heading to London to see it again.
A fantastic performance from everyone in today's matinee. Amanda Holden's costumes and portrayal of Vera made me laugh until I cried and the understudy who played Sylvia was brilliant with the delivery. I would highly recommend this show.
I went with my 3 daughters to see this last Wednesday 3rd May. It was absolutely appalling! We complained to the House Manager in the interval, he was very helpful and gave us an email address to write to and told us we would be reimbursed. After several exchanges with Nimax Theatres we have been offered a chance to see the show again (you have to be joking it was agony the first time) but absolutely will not reimburse us! Having day tripped from Southampton, at some cost, I am furious. I simply can't believe that a show in the West End could be so awful! Do NOT bother - you have been warned! I wouldn't even give it the 1 star - but you have to to write a comment!!!
