Today at The Hall of fame we looked at the walls to check out the smoothness. There has been an unbelievable amount of paint that has come off the walls, over 20 years worth of layers. Coming through the walls was an old piece by Jonny dier FDC ( rest in piece). Great to see his work there after all the years since he passed. Work is progressing and thanks to all the team at Kingsbury construction and network homes who are making this happen. We will keep you up to date on the progress with the works as it goes along. We would love to hear your ideas for the space too so drop us a line or if you would like to organise an event here.

Back in 2015 , Clapham Film unit created this short film as part of a project working with young people from Stockwell Primary School. The pupils learned about writing history and looked at the letter styles of some of the leading writers and how they created their Art. Over 4 weeks pupils learned how to create Graffiti style pieces and about how Artists use the space. In this film the artists explain what makes this space a special place and talk about their experiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twe11yELk 3k

In 2015 pupils from Stockwell Primary School worked at the Hall of Fame on a project that explored letterforms and how to produce a piece. This project was put together by Clapham Film Unit and Watch This Space.

Back in 2012 I met a young student at The Hall Of Fame whilst painting and she asked to interview me as part of her studies into Graffiti Culture. She later introduced me to her sister Sarah who worked for a school in Kenya called Pepo La Tumaini Trust. After meeting Sarah I decided to travel to Kenya to visit them in 2014 with the aim of delivering Art workshops to the children there. Whilst there I met a young woman called Charity Kathure who was living at Pepo la tumaini ...and she was responsible for the household and general chores. You can see her story here.

After 2 months in Kenya I returned to the UK and contacted Charity to see how she was. She desperately wanted to study at University but had no means of doing this since she had no family to support her. I worked on a plan to raise money from film shoots at The Hall Of Fame and my Art classes in the community to cover Charitys fees at Karatina University in Kenya. On November 2nd 2018 , Charity Kathure graduated at Karatina University with a degree in Criminology and social science. See her Graduation here .

What makes The Hall Of Fame amazing is that it connects people from across the world. These connections can have life changing impacts from something as simple as painting on the walls and its thanks to this place and the benefits it can bring that someone like Charity Kathure has a headstart in life. Looking to the future I hope many more stories of success will come out of this place and that people will see the positive outcomes that our culture has to offer. Thanks to @networkhomes and SW9 housing for their support. Boyd Hill www.claptwn.blogspot.co.uk

Last week the Children at Dlala nje in Ponte City, Hillbrow, Johannesburg learned about the Art of Lovepusher and how he uses space to create huge messages at The hall Of Fame. Also during the lesson we learned the importance of Art in Cities and how people can express themselves. We then created designs for T shirts based on the Graffiti work at The Hall Of fame. Heres the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnmfNl9ih s8 Follow the charity at www.dlalanje.org

Today in Johannesburg I am teaching the young people at a arts project called dlala nje about our Hall of fame and the work of London artist Lovepusher. They learned about how murals are created and how many artists visit the Hall of Fame to create work and use social media to reach out to a wider audience. Dlala nje is based in Ponte Tower in Hillbrow. The building which was previously hijacked and fell into disrepair is now a sign of the development of Johannesburg and its inner city. Thanks to all the young people who took part and look forward to seeing you all next year.

Whilst the Hall Of Fame is under construction I am in Johannesburg where today pupils at Jeppe primary school learned about the space and how important it is to express yourself with art. We looked at the work of @lovepusher and then designed T shirts based on Graffiti designs. Thanks to everyone who took part and check out @streetlightschools on Instagram.

To coincide with moniker art fair this week we are launching our limited edition art series 'walking with kings'. This unique series is made from the grimey astro turf in the main court of the hall of fame and has been carefully removed by our specialist team to create the pieces. Many who have painted here on a wet day will know the ' Stockwell knee' and these pieces capture forever that delicate experience. This limited edition series will be available for Christmas.
