We went to sunrise solicitors for help with our ILR application. We didn't know what to expect, having had bad experiences in the past with other firms. It was conveniently located next to south Wimbledon station on the Northern line. We had booked an appointment to meet the firm's senior partner. He was punctual and we were seen promptly after we had arrived. I explained our case and its complexities. There was also a lot of paperwork from the last 10 years. He seemed quite knowledgeable and lent us his expert opinion on how to proceed. We left that day to decide and came back two weeks later to instruct them.



Our case would be handled by one of their legal advisers, Muhammad Usman Rasheed LLB, whom we also met on the day. He was courteous and very polite. He had thorough knowledge of UK immigration law and answered our questions and complex queries with ease. But this was only the first day and there was still a long way to go before he would prepare our application for the premium ILR appointment. Days passed, as we collected documents for Usman to start his preparations. He gave us a comprehensive list. When we couldn't locate a document, I could email him and he usually replied within a couple of hours with an alternative solution. I felt so much at ease as it was never going to be easy locating old past documents, but he always seemed to have a solution. Usman booked us a premium appointment on our preferred date, and I later found out that he is quite good at this. He is able to capture short notice cancellations based on his experience and knowledge of how the system works.



Once we handed all the originals to him, he went to work preparing our application pack. This is work that is best left to experts and knowledgeable professionals, especially in complex 10-year ILRs such as ours. A slight oversight can be costly and using professionals to prepare the application can save you a lot of time (and money) in the longer run. During the preparation stages, communication with Usman was very easy and straightforward. I could reach him at most times of the day and he would respond promptly and courteously.



A week before our ILR appointment, I went to see the application pack he had prepared. After going through the whole pack, I realised it must have taken several days of careful work. And the all important impressive cover letter that he had drafted for the case worker, mentioning all crucial documentary evidence year-by-year, to ensure that the 10-year stay was fully justified. After seeing this meticulous and level of detail in our application pack, I knew we had come a long way after we first met him, giving him only fragments of information about our case history. A success or failure was still dependent on the case worker dealing with our case, but I knew from our end it was a great effort.



On the day of our premium appointment, we were met by Kacper form Sunrise at the home office. He was very professional, polite and kept us at ease. Usman had booked us a 9am appointment which I had felt was too early having to travel during rush hour, but now on hindsight he made the right decision, as they would try to give us a decision by midday before people for the afternoon appointments arrived.



And as you would expect, without a question being asked, we received a positive outcome and a successful application for our ILR.
