THE SUPERSKILLS STORY:

Established for ten years, SuperSkills quickly gained a reputation for delivering high-quality construction training courses. This was recognised by local schools, employers, people wanting to start their own businesses and those wanting to repair or renovate their houses.

In 2008, SuperSkills was awarded a contract by the Skills Funding Agency to deliver Construction NVQ's to people in work under the Train to Gain scheme and for Construction Apprenticeships in Bricklaying and Joinery. Following this, the business rapidly expanded and people started coming from all over the country to receive the high-quality service that SuperSkills delivers.

SuperSkills is accredited by CITB-ConstructionSkills and the City & Guilds London Institute to deliver qualifications that are internationally recognised and valued by employers and individuals alike.

Additionally, as a Skills Funding Agency provider, SuperSkills is subject to inspection by OFSTED.

In June 2010, Ofsted said of SuperSkills "Train to Gain programmes are particularly successful and these learners develop good additional employability skills and qualifications that significantly enhance their economic well being. "

All the instructors at SuperSkills have specific qualifications in their skill subject areas. Additionally, they have undertaken the necessary training and accreditation to teach people and assess their work for the purpose of achieving qualifications.

SuperSkills has some 10, 000 square feet of dedicated training space available to its customers, together with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure they all gain the skills they require.

SuperSkills is open throughout the year and NVQ Assessment Courses run at times to suit the candidates. No waiting until the start of "the next intake" at SuperSkills!

We deliver assessments at weekends to meet the needs of people who are working on site during the week and can offer courses on a part-time basis to those who want to undertake training whilst taking time away from work.

SuperSkills specialises in NVQ Assessment and has become the country's leading provider of assessments for Experienced Workers by the CITB's Practical Assessment Route.

We know that some training centres will tell will tell you an NVQ may be gained purely by attending a course. This is simply not true.

With the exception of those qualifications for which experienced worker practical assessment is available, requiring the tradesperson to demonstrate his or her underpinning knowledge of the trade concerned, NVQs may only be achieved if the training programme includes work based assessment.

All our staff operate within the guidelines contained in the National Occupational Standards and NVQ Codes of Practice. Our delivery is regularly subject to quality assurance by each of the awarding bodies a number of times a year. Additionally, we are audited by the Skills Funding Agency, inspected by the OFSTED and local schools.

SuperSkills is based in Thirsk, Yorkshire. With the exception of on-site assessment and training programs, all of our courses and NVQ Assessments take place at this location. The training centre is beside the strategic road network and a few minutes from the local railway station which is on the East Coast main line. When clients are staying in Thirsk for the purpose of attending their NVQ Assessment programme, we make arrangements on their behalf with two local bed and breakfast establishments, both of which have consistently received high praise for the quality of their accommodation and food. Accommodation in Thirsk will generally cost between £30-£35 a night depending on season.
