Here are Lucy and Oscar who retired in 2008 with their handlers. Each Springer spaniel worked in Gatwick Airport searching for drugs and explosives to keep travellers safe for nearly 7 years.
Today, Springers remain the dog of choice for this type of work – they have an excellent sense of smell. When our PDs or police dogs retire, they will either stay in the care of their handlers or be rehomed somewhere suitable.

Attending this year’s Pride? Don’t leave bags unattended and never agree to look after anyone else’s bags, no matter how plausible their story.
If you see someone acting suspiciously, report it to police or security staff immediately.
