Swallows And Amazons Emporium Description
The concept behind Swallows and Amazons Emporium developed from the compliments I received from other parents on my daughter's colourful and individual attire! I began buying second hand clothes for Lulu when she was 3 months old and couldn't believe the quality and range of lightly worn clothes coming through our front door. Children wear clothes for such a short length of time, that outlying vast sums of money for something so temporary didn't seem logical to me.
And so last year I decided to set up this business to provide the local community with good quality preloved baby and children's clothes (age 0-10 yrs), at a time when budgets are tight and children outgrow clothes very quickly. We stock designer and high street brands at supermarket prices! All clothes have been lightly worn and some are even brand new. Please remember that preloved clothes have been worn so will show some signs of washwear. I try to source clothes that have no rips or stains but the odd tiny one may elude my discerning eye.
Toys seem to increase in price by the day and can be broken by eager little hands. And so we also stock preloved toys in great condition, many no longer manufactured. I have always bought pre-loved toys for my daughter and I have found the range and price so much more pleasing than those available on the high street - hence local mums are amazed by our well-stocked playroom!
Our ongoing mission is to also become a kind of 'Not on the High Street' for children's products. Supporting British (especially local) small businesses is at the heart of our consumerist belief and so we stock handmade gifts and accessories for children and babies.
Our other passion is vintage, so feel free to peruse our collection of vintage children's toys (including many hard to find Barbies and Action Men (! ) and some vintage homeware, including Sadler teapots for the mummies, daddies and grandparents out there!
In my parent's day, there were shops like Swallows and Amazons on every high street, so let's see what the future holds for Swallows and Amzons Emporium!

Loved this film possibly more than my daughter who still enjoyed it a lot!
How about a last minute garage sale on Sunday morning at 11.30? My garage is just off the left hand side of Inner Park Road after the shop parade and after the intersection with Glen Albyn Road if you have your back to the shops.
I am clearing my garage over the next few weeks and have a massive selection of girls and boys clothes aged 0-12yrs, particularly lots of wonderful girls clothes, aged 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6, many of which are my daughter's. Brands include: Boden, Monsoon, Catimini, Next and for boys some Ralph Lauren. Some of the photos are on Facebook page below (under photos then albums) but many I have not photographed yet and are in great condition (too many to photograph). Right my garage needs to be cleared in about 3 months time so better get cracking...! Lots of sorting, photographing and selling to be done!

Spring has finally sprung!
I have started to write my website, but the products in my shop section are just templates so please do not try to purchase them, am all new to this techy stuff, so bear with me xx
Plans are afoot to secure some premises space in the local area, I have been brainstorming with some colleagues! I don't have time to upload photos for spring/summer as so busy so do feel free to come to my house and browse if you are in the vicinity of SW19! xxx
This will be a great fair - I went last year to her fair in the old Town Hall in Kingston and there were some really super stalls x
Have been rather quiet lately on here as have been completing the recognition process as a doula and also trying to clear the current stock out. Will be getting some new stock in soon and will upload in the next few weeks! xx

What are you getting your little girls for Christmas? My daughter does like dolls (but dolls that do things eg she has a vintage Barbie hospital and a Barbie vet - which I sourced second hand) so I have bought her a Baby Annabell (which she requested) - but she is also getting a wooden pirate ship and pirate island.
