Located on the top floor of Swan, our Balcony Room is a beautiful and elegant blank canvas. With dark wood floors, white walls and a stunning glass chandelier, there are also French windows that open the space onto a private balcony, which benefits from the views of the River Thames and St Paul's Cathedral. We were seeing a play at the Sam Wanamaker theatre and booked for a meal at the Swan before hand. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was incredible. We had the 3 course meal and its great value for money....if the slow braised short rib is on the order it, I could have eaten it for all 3 courses. It's not a question of if we would go back but when.

User

We had a Surprise Party for my brother, who turns 40, in ”the Bull room”.

Food was good and service friendly.

Wonderful room and great views!

User

We enjoyed “A Midsummer Night’s Tea” after our tour of the Globe. Delicious and they even had a “Gentlemen’s Tea” for the men with a variety of yummy sandwiches and a scotch egg!! We loved it!!!

User

Such a wonderful restaurant with gorgeous view overlooking the Thames River and St Paul’s Cathedral!

The ambiance and service is impeccable! The food is always delicious! A must if your visiting London or if you live in London!

User

Really enjoyed, drinks in the bar, before our guided tour of the Globe, then more drinks prior to dinner in the Swan Restaurant, excellent service and delicious food, before the show. Would definitely go again. Thank you 🙏

User

Our son bought us afternoon tea vouchers for Christmas and we decided to come here .Really lovely . Scones were freshly baked and still warm when we are them . Really recommend coming here . Table service was excellent.

User

My husband and I had a lovely meal at the Swan. It was recommended to us by our son who had eaten there recently. The service was excellent and we were seated next to the window with great views across the Thames. The food was good and we didn’t have to wait long.

User

Lovely food and courteous, pleasant service. Little extra touches made the meal very special - and the pre-performance set meal is extremely good value. Heartily recommend!

User

I took my clients for a late lunch on Thursday, what an amazing place. The staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived and throughout our visit. The tables are well laid out and not on top of each other. Amazing view of the river, great food and atmosphere... what more do you want! Being foodies, my clients described it as a hidden gem. Great choice!

User

Great food, wonderful service and one of the best views from a table in the capital.

User

Excellent food and service! Well worth the visit. If only the show we went to see at the Globe was as good we’d be back more often. The setting is lovely and the decor is super. We especially liked the quirky moles of sheep heads!

User

Afternoon tea today with my mum (Iris Decker) and my son.we all agree the best we've had.and we had a lovely waiter.Thank you.

User

What a lovely find in the busy heart of London . Apparently I was lucky this particular evening cause it was a very cold Sunday night and there were very little guest in a normally very busy restaurant on ‘tourist alley “ on South bank. Lovely atmosphere with a sort of nice contemporary feel , mixture of old and new with a basic but nice menu to choose from , especially Sunday roast , great!, and great service after they made a mistake regarding my food alllergies , they made sure that I was well looked after and made sure that a wasn’t allergic to any of the meals during my course by informing me about all possible other allergic ingredients . Great experience overall for a lovely quiet Sunday night on the Thames River

User

We booked a table for 10 people with the understanding that we will have the set Christmas menu. We were told that we can only have a la carte, which wasn't such a problem in the end as the menu is lovely. However, we are given the table 30 minutes later than our booking, at 10pm and at midnight we were told in a quite abrupt manner to leave the restaurant as they were closing. We had no warning and were loudly asked to leave by the security guy! And we were not the only patrons treated like this. Very inappropriate ending to an otherwise lovely evening...

User

Good location and service but quite pricy. We saw someone get McDonalds style fries with their meal and, really, they should be able to do better than that. Our pie and bangers and mash were nice. Not a big fan of the “voluntary” 12.5% service fee where they make you feel it’s part of the bill and you feel lousy if you take it off. A bit of a guilt trip and it works on most but whilst I pay if the service is OK, I generally don’t return and don’t recommend to others.

User

Good atmosphere and great food but, took to long before our food came, we were there nearly hour before our stater arrived, even though we ordered very quickly after arriving.

User

As a large group of 16 we were allocated a private room overlooking the Thames River with a lovely view of St. Paul’s Cathedral. We were provided with a selection of teas including peppermint, Earl Grey & the ever popular English Breakfast to accompany our Afternoon Tea of finger sandwiches consisting of egg mayonnaise or ham and a bite size quiche. Of course scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, along with a selection of petit fours were part of the experience served on a traditional 3 tiered cake stand. The experience was most enjoyable and a favourite English pastime which everyone should include on their London itinerary.

While in the Southbank area you should also include a visit to Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition, Borough Market and The View at the Shard. All can easily be access by the London Bridge Tube station.

User

My birthday lunch on Easter Sunday. Food mediocre and lukewarm. Two hours twenty minutes for two courses. Sent the desserts back as the ice cream was melted into liquid - waited ten minutes for replacements but no sign. When the waiter said it would take another ten minutes we decided life's too short, paid and left. Felt sorry for the waiter who was very apologetic, but never ever going back to the Swan even though I visit the Globe several times a year. I'd rather have a Tesco sandwich on one of the benches outside.

User

I came here last year with 5 friends for a pre Christmas meal - we all enjoyed it very much and decided to come back this year.

Not so good. If the table's not ready you have to wait in a noisy crowded bar. We were sat at a table for 6 that wasn't quite big enough and there were people bumping into my chair as they squeezed between our table and the one in the window.

My soup was OK as was another friend's pate. But 4 people had the smoked trout and found it tasteless.

4 of us had the turkey dinner. The vegetables were so lightly cooked they were rock hard. The sprouts in particular but even the roast potatoes were undercooked. One of our Party had cod and another the sirloin of beef and said it was very nice. We didn't complain.

However when the dessert came, 3 of our party who ordered pudding with plums and compote found a nasty rancid taste in the pudding. I had pear in lattice pastry which was tough and chewy, apparently the Christmas pudding was ok.

The waiter asked me how was the meal. I told him the vegetables were undercooked and referred him to my friends who had a complaint about the dessert.

He said he'd speak to the chef. He did not seem apologetic and did not return. We called him over to ask what the chef said. Apparently the taste they didn't like was 'marzipan oil' and it was perfectly ok. No apology, no offer of alternative dessert. Nothing. He said he hoped it would not happen next time.

Except there will be no next time for us...

The view is good - if you have a window table. But the restaurant is noisy, crowded, the staff are overworked and it's hard to get their attention and now the food is substandard too.....

And it's far too expensive considering the quality of the food.
