Another great stop check of a vehicle last night by local officers patrolling the Whyteleafe area. The driver tried to run away before violently resisting officers, causing several injuries. After searching the male and his vehicle he was found to be in possession of white powder and a knuckle duster.
The driver has today been charged to court with drink driving, possession of a class A drug, possession of an offensive weapon, resisting police, failing to stop for a constabl...e, and driving without an MOT.

Some excellent proactive work from local officers in the Titsey area of Oxted. A stop check of a van late at night resulted in the driver being arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of cannabis, possession of a firearm, and possession of a crossbow. The driver has been released under investigation pending further enquiries. #CoppersNose #KeepingSurreySafe

On 7th January this year a burglary took place on Burntwood Lane, Caterham. Several items were taken, including this distinctive necklace and pendant. We would especially like to return this item of jewellery to its rightful owner as it contains the ashes of their daughter.
If you know who is responsible, do the right thing and report any information on 101, or online, quoting PR/45190002333.

Advice to help protect your sheds and garages
Residents should to be mindful about securing equipment kept in a garage, shed or the garden. Many houses are securely alarmed but garages and outbuildings are often left insecure and can offer ‘easy pickings’ for a criminal.
. Use good quality fixings and a padlock to secure doors using anti-tamper screws in door hinges and lock all windows.
... . Fit a mains or battery powered alarm
. Use a forensic coding product to 'property mark' all valuable tools and equipment
. Secure lawnmowers, petrol powered items and other valuable equipment to the wall or floor using a ground anchor or similar
. Make items difficult to move by placing obstacles in front of them
. Consider the use of CCTV
. Use Outside lighting as a deterrent
. Let nature help – Holly and hawthorn are particularly difficult to get through. Prickly, deciduous shrubs next to walls or fences act as an effective barrier
. Register your Property – on IMMMOBILISE, the national property register where you can record all identifiable property - https://www.immobilise.com
. Further Crime Prevention Advice can be found on the Surrey Police Web pages. https://www.surrey.police.uk/advice/
. Encourage neighbours to sign up to our communication network ‘In The Know’ for the latest crime updates, crime prevention advice and news in your area. https://www.intheknow.community/
And of course….report anything suspicious to police, at the time on 101 or if you have any information then please contact Surrey Police on 101 or you can contact CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555111

Tandridge Burglar jailed for 6 years
This is the man who crashed into the Wapses Roundabout at Whytleleafe whilst being pursued and then tried to escape by jumping over into the subway! (FB post Nov 8) Five of the offences he was imprisoned for were burglaries in the Tandridge area.

An unusual one today which did take some googling to work out what we were looking for. A Groundhog Mobile Welfare Unit was stolen from the M23 roadworks in Sussex over the New Year period. It's the workers canteen and toilets. With some help from our Reigate and Banstead colleagues who were nearby it was located today in Newchapel. The person present claimed 'they found it in a layby'. Following recovery it is in the process of being returned to the rightful owners (LW)

A few local residents may have wondered what was happening on Thursday evening at Torwood Lane, Whyteleafe. Following a pursuit where items were discarded from the vehicle there was a decamp at the location with two non-compliant persons detained by police nearby. They were both arrested for a number of offences shoplifting, public order, assault and driving offences (LW)

One of our eagle eyed PCSO's located a stolen Audi A3 yesterday in #Warlingham. It's now been recovered awaiting forensics....

So PC Searle's shift with the Assistant Chief Constable Nev Kemp unfortunately ended with both offcers being assaulted at a domestic incident they responded to. Following a violent struggle PC Searle hit her head and cut her mouth. She is ok and has some concussion. The ACC has a minor cut and bruise. Whilst at hospital for her injuries a member of the control room staff dropped a bottle of Prosecco off to her. This shows the everyday risks faced by officers and the wonderful support of their colleagues all evident in one incident. The suspect is currently in custody (LW) #OneTeam #AssaultPolice
