Tewkesbury Abbey Club Site Description

One of the most impressively located sites on the network, Tewkesbury Abbey Caravan Club Site is only a short walk from the charming old town of Tewkesbury. In fact, it's almost in the shadow of the ancient Abbey from which it takes its name. With superb mature trees screening the caravan park, you and your family will feel tucked away in a quiet dream of days gone by.

Tewkesbury Abbey Club Site will reopen in Summer 2018. Due to the complicated nature of the extensive redevelopment works involved at Tewkesbury Abbey Club Site, we cannot currently provide a definitive date as to when the works will complete, and therefore when the site can re-open. In order to avoid disappointment and disruption to our members, we are unable accept bookings, but we will advise you as soon as you can. Please check back regularly on the site’s page on our website for the most up to date information. Alternatively, you can stay at nearby Cheltenham Racecourse Club Site, Malvern Hills Club Site or Broadway Club Site. These sites are all located within 12 miles of Tewkesbury Abbey Club site.

What a peach of a site. We used it for a 2 night stop off on the way to Cornwall and was very impressed with everything. Facilities, wardens and the layout of the campsite with being close to all amenities including play parks, leisure centres.

User

We had a lovely one night stay at Tewkesbury Abbey. The lovely lady on reception opened the gate early for us to head for Cornwall. Much appreciated for that.

We even stayed again for one night heading back to Yorkshire. Always happy smiling faces when you book in.

We recommend this site to all our friends.

User

This site is well run,the toilet block must be next for refurbishment, wardens keep their eye on peg markers which I have had issues with on other sites being moved by visitors. Some sort of permanent marking would make life easier. Some visitors exceeded the 5 mph speed limit which is very disappointing and shows a lack of self discipline. I don't consider that it's the warrens job to enforce this. Good dog walk next door and easy walk into town.

User

The site us easy to get to and in a remarkably fabulous position, only a 5 minute walk into the centre if the town which as lots of shops, cafes and bars. We have A great pitch. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are immaculately clean - we hope to be returning here many times in the future.

User

Site is very easy to find, hidden in tewkesbury town. Site is clean and tidy. Great field to exercise dogs. Excellent view of Tewkesbury Abbey, lovely view when it's lit up at night. Will definately come here again.

User

Nice site.we use it every time as a stop over for a few days on our way home from our holidays down south. Always clean and tidy as most cc sites are. Guaranteed some rest time and the town centre is within walking distance and has something for everyone. Well worth a visit

User

Lovely site although a bit crowded. Toilets and showers usual Club standard - but is it really necessary to close them for an hour and a half for cleaning? We've just come back from France and they manage to clean without closing over there.

Easy walk into town where there are some interesting shops, a small Tesco and loads of places to eat. We can highly recommend the dog-friendly Berkeley Arms where we had a lovely meal.

User

First time there will definitely go again. Nice clean site and very friendly wardens. Centrally situated not just for the town but countryside as well. Glad to hear they are refurbishing the toilet blocks during winter 2017/8.

One slight drawback was kids riding around quite fast on bikes, being deaf found it a bit intimidating and dangerous.

All in all excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

User

Perfect location right in the middle of town so everywhere is within walking distance. The Abbey forms a lovely backdrop. We liked the town but it was sad to see so many closed businesses and others looking a little 'tired'. Had a meal in the Bell Hotel which was pleasant enough, but really enjoyed the atmosphere and food in The Nottingham Arms. Only negative on site were the toilets and showers which, although clean, need updating. Would certainly go back again.

User

Nice site, perfect position for wandering into town. Lovely park next door for walking our doggies. Staff cheerful & friendly, facilities are nice and clean but a bit outdated, could do with a 'makeover'. Enjoying our stay apart from it being marred at the start by an extremely rude & unfriendly man in a caravan next to us who chose to park right next to the facilities and then complained that my husband was 'on his pitch' when he walked past to go to the toilet!! Every single person going that way did exactly the same thing. It's a shame that some people have to be obnoxious & ignorant in the way they deal with things, it's cast a shadow over our weekend.

User

Lovely location, friendly staff, great park right next door to walk your dog...pity about the lovely Abbey in view that has to ring it's bells on the hour every hour... on the half hour every hour..heard every 1 during the nights in our tent.

But overall well worth a visit. Not many tent pitches, but it is a Caravan and Motorhome site.

User

Fab site. Super friendly with lovely wardens who also have small terriers so they understand dogs. Also for those who have them they have a few tent pitches too. The vineyards is a big recreation ground right next door perfect for running around. It's a 2 minute walk to the high street and the Bell is a fabulous super dog friendly restaurant/hotel 5 mins walk away. Fantastic walk up the river from the site into town. Really nice. They even have fresh herbs for you to clip from to cook. The only thing that lets it down and needs money to be spend ASAP is the loos and showers. They are clean of course, but there are only 3 in each block so I had to queue most days - not enough for a large site. The loos have damaged flushes or cisterns which makes it a challenge at peak times. But the showers are lovely and hot and the site is brilliant

User

Been coming to Tewkesbury for many a year it has now lost its character with most of the trees cut down to make room for more pitches it has been revamped this year with a lot of hardstandings which it needed the old toilet block has been removed and a new unit built which imo has improved the site no end ,decent size showers and all sparkling new , the wardens are brilliant always willing to help ,but the downside is they gave crammed to many pitches in and you feel on top of each other .

Saying all this we will return but make sure we try to get and outside pitch.

User

A lovely site and a great location with an easy stroll in to town. Tewkesbury has a mixture of shops and plenty of places for coffee and eating out. The Abbey is just a short walk and is well worth a visit, a beautiful place and hard to imagine nearly 900 years old.

The two toilet blocks are looking a little tired and could do with updating otherwise would have awarded 5 ⭐️

User

This was one of my favourite sites. However it's been spoilt by the removal of most of the bushes etc. Such a shame. Why? Where does that fit in with the bio diversity plan for the site. Really shortsighted as it now feels like we're on a large site with people now walking thru our pitch to the loos.

But still all in all a nice site. Decent wardens and we love Tewkesbury. We will always come back.

User

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here but only for an overnight stop over, wouldn't want to stay here any longer pitches are very close together, don't feel like you get much privacy also it was opened in 1972 and I think the toilet blocks are the same as they were when they opened,on a positive note the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the flower display as you drive in is stunning, and you can walk into the town in under 5 minutes.

User

The greeting you get when arrive is 😄!! The site is very clean with nice flower 🌺 displays !! The only thing that I will complain about is the showers, only two in the toilet block that I used, !! so it was up very early ! queue !!

User

Stayed overnight on way back to North Wales from Cornwall. Found there was a lot of noise from just outside the site, young children in the early evening and obviously teenagers in the later evening. As far as the site was concerned, maintenance of the infrastructure is obviously a low priority, the Clun seems to want the wardens office and surrounding areas looking pretty and the grass short but important things like the chemical emptying point equipment are left. The wash hoses was loose and either sprayed water from the tap and not out of the bottom of the hose or didn't work at all. I found the toilets a little faded. I recently stopped at the Keswick club site and this had exactly the same problem, a lack of maintenance. I have just spent a month in Cornwall stopping on CL'S, which is where I will be stopping in the future. I have been in the club for 40 years and seen a steady decline in standards

User

Ideal for town centre, toilet blocks a little tired by caravan club standards, dog walking very convenient with a public field opposite campsite with play area. Beautiful view of the abbey day and night from the site. Campsite office beautifully set out with a floral display. Wifi good and 4G phone signal. As with all sites if you have inconsiderate neighbours

they can make your stay less enjoyable, sadly this was our experience on this occasion.
