About Tfl Chaplaincy

Chaplaincy to the London Underground, British Transport Police and beyond. Supporting the network full time through Railway Mission. (Posts by Dan Godwin. )

Tfl Chaplaincy Description

Our mobile chaplains, based at strategic locations across England, Wales and Scotland, offer friendship and a listening ear. We each bring a wealth of life experience, so you can be sure of our understanding.

We’re here for people at all levels and in all sectors of the rail industry, including manufacturing and subcontracting. We also serve the British Transport Police (our chaplains carry BTP ID), and members of the travelling public.

You can talk to us either face-to-face or on the telephone in normal office hours, and we’re on hand to respond to out-of-hours emergencies. We’re an independent organisation, acting impartially and with the utmost discretion.

It’s our belief that nobody on the rail network needs to feel alone, so, whatever you or your loved ones are going through, we’re here for you.

Like viaducts, we’ve offered support for over 100 years, but we’re totally up-to-date with the trials of modern living. Our chaplains help railway staff (in all sectors and at all levels) and the British Transport Police enjoy the good times and get through the bad times. Our team is also available to the travelling public in the event of rail incidents including suicides.

So, if life’s journey feels threatened, we offer face-to-face friendship and an opportunity to talk about problems and explore solutions. Our set-up enables us to be independent and impartial.

Each of our mobile chaplains, based at strategic locations across England, Wales and Scotland, brings a wealth of industry knowledge and life experience. Through our affiliation to the International Railway Mission, we have links with railway people as far away as New Zealand, helping us to deepen our understanding of universal railway issues.

Our work complements that of the welfare services provided by rail employers, and we’re governed by a board of trustees who ensure we do our utmost to ensure that nobody on the railways needs to feel alone.

Railway Mission relies on donations to finance our work and meet an ever-growing need for our services. While we receive some rail industry support, we depend on the generosity of individuals.
