About The Abbey Art Centre
The Abbey Art Centre has a mix of living accommodation and work studios alongside a 13th Century Tythe Barn exhibition space in New Barnet, North London.
The Abbey Art Centre Description
The Abbey Art Centre was founded in 1946 by William Ohly, an art dealer who also ran the Berkely Galleries in Davies Street, London.
Later run by his wife, Kate Ohly and now by his daughter Bienchen Ohly, the Abbey Art Centre continues to offer artist accommodation and workspaces set within the 2-acre gardens of the estate.
Summer and Winter exhibitions held in the 13th Century Tythe Barn, alongside open studio days, allow current and former artists to exhibit their work for sale to friends and the general public.
The Tythe Barn is also available to hire for private exhibitions and functions.
