We had a buffet for our son’s 1st birthday party in the function area upstairs and it was excellent. James the manager was very helpful and accommodating throughout the booking process and on the day the room was set up really well and the standard of food was very good indeed. We will certainly be going back as will a number of people who came to the party.

We came upon The Anchor by chance. We were given a Christmas gift voucher for a meal at The Swan in Monkseleigh, which has unfortunately closed down. Luckily The Anchor is one of The Swan’s sister pubs and Roman, the Assistant Manager at The Anchor readily accepted our voucher without question. The welcome, setting, food and range of drinks were all excellent. The weather was outstanding, which rounded off a super time there.

We came as a large group this last weekend. We preordered and on arrival we were shown to our own private room, (which suited us perfectly given the amount of kids in tow!)

The staff were friendly, accommodating, and above all, professional. The food was excellent, not one grumble across 16 meals. Delicious! We plan to revisit, thank you.

We ate here last night after deciding to try a country pub we’ve never eaten in before. We hadn’t booked so just dropped in.

The staff were very warm and welcoming,we had a lovely view from the conservatory overlooking the beautiful surroundings and the food was excellent....also my Gin!

We will definitely come back again.

The other day I stop at the anchor inn for a lunch and a few drinks. I sat outside to eat and I have to say that the view and surroundings were amazing and so relaxing. I really enjoy the food and the service was really friendly. I strong recommend everyone that pass near the area goes and enjoy a delicious meal next to the river. I would definitely come back again.

Lovely impromptu dinner out by the river. Setting beautiful, food gorgeous. The batter on our fish was superb, light, crispy and melt in the mouth.

I had never been to the anchor before an we had our dog with us they gave him a bowl of water which some resturants dont do an one of the staff members looked to see if they did dog treats but of course they didnt but thats fine, we both had a meal of steak which wow was amazing beautifully done, an also had dessert which i had a bakewell tart with rasberry ice cream wasnt to keen on the rasberry ice cream but apart from that was amazing, staff are lovely an talkative, toilets was nice an clean didnt actually go inside but outside had a lovely view xx

Booked in advance, rang up three times to change numbers/orders/times and on each occasion the team were absolutely courteous and solicitous, even more so when our eight adults & eight children turned up tired and fractious from a lengthy stomp across the lovely countryside and were escorted to our reserved dining room. Bread was fresh and warm (and delicious), kids meals were hoovered up, the rack of ribs provoked a spontaneous round of applause, and the pie was worthy of Instagram (we didn't; we're not hipsters...). Good beer, fine wine, cool staff, friendly fellow drinkers.

Beautiful setting by the river, surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside. We ate on Sunday, I went for the chickpea curry and it was fabulous. My boyfriend and I both love to cook so we are notoriously hard to please but the food was fresh and cooked remarkably well. I recommended to friends who have also been and loved it. Staff lovely and friendly. Been two weekends in a row and will be returning again!

We had a lovely lunch here yesterday, we had Father Xmas visit our table to drop off a present which was great for my granddaughter. We sat upstairs and I must give a shout out to the staff as they were very attentive and helpful upstairs and at the bar. The food was really good too I can def recommend the sticky BBQ ribs. loved this place with its open fire and comfy chairs it has a lovely atmosphere. i would def return for lunch and at Xmas for the santa lunch again. if i had to be picky i would just say check the high chairs after every use as there was some food in the one we had, but this was dealt with swiftly so no complaints there.

This was our second visit. We booked our table in advance for Sunday lunch, however on arrival who ever had booked it had put us in for Saturday. Luckily this wasn't an issue as we had had an hour's journey. We decided to sit outside as the surroundings are beautiful. Two of our party had roast beef. Cooked to perfection so we're the veg. Roast pork too was fabulous and fish pie which also had lots of fish. The thing that was a negative was the waitress service. Incredibly slow! and for a better word half cocked! We sat with our dirty plates in front of us for at least half an hour and it was only after I went to find someone they came and only cleared two plates. Drinks were asked for and waitress walked off halfway through the order. Condiments also had to be requested. This meant leaving the dinner to get cold. I really think that there must be a training issue here as they were pleasant youngsters. Such a shame to be let down on such an obvious issue.

Got to say was a little let down. Pub by the river canoeing down from camp site for lunch seemed a great thing to do Well the beer was Adnams, but they'd better sort out the food side because it wasn't brilliant and it wasn't cheap looked like they where after passing trade that weren't coming back and I won't if you don't up your game I'll canoe the other way.

Disappointing Sunday lunch☹️ Travelled 40 mins to try this pub but was very disappointed overall. Staff were lovely but not enough of them. Took forever to get anything. Very long waits between ordering courses . I had pork which was lovely but my friend had beef which we was advised was pink. It definitely wasn't. There were two tiny slices of well done beef compared to my large three of pork. Crackling was amazing though. I had 4 big roasties, friend had two little ones and the veg was dry and cauliflower brown looking. After mains a couple who sat next to us got their meal and the gentlemans roast beef dinner was of a completely different standard to ours. Lots of beef, potatoes and the veg was lovely looking. I ended up sharing my dinner as I felt bad for having more on my plate. We then ordered dessert after waiting 10 minutes for the waitress to get the menu. Dessert then took another 30 minutes to come. Again portions in complete opposites. By this time my friend thought that he had offended someone somehow as he got the bum deal again. There was one person on the bar serving both pub and restaurant drinks. The poor guy was swamped. Would not return for Sunday lunch again. Would stop for a drink if passing as lovely walks and can sit outside by the river weather permitting.

So disappointed with tonight's meal. It seemed 1/3 of the menu was off, from a fairly limited menu anyway and nothing had been mentioned when I rang to book the table.

The starter of smoked fish platter; of the 7 prawns, only one could be eaten as the rest were all full of eggs. The manager did apologise for this and later told my partner that upon inspection 50% of the prawns they had were inedible for this reason. He did refund £3 from the price of this starter, so just under half the cost.

The mains of sea bass on a bed of potato&chorizo risotto - there was literally not one piece of risotto rice to be found. It was so oily from the excessive chorizo, it ruined the remaining ingredients. The beer-battered fish had been drowned in oil, with the chips heavily over-cooked.

Such a shame as the staff pleasant enough and the settings beautiful. I wish I'd made more of a fuss about the rubbish food but was too disappointed. Will never eat there again.

Booked a large table ages ago (2 months +) and liased with the manager, James, with preorder in the week leading up to the booking and all seemed well. Upon entering I was told that they had no more Spatchcock Chicken, something which 4 of my party, including myself had ordered. Alternative was offered but Mexican chicken didn't cut it for me.

Starters were ok, main courses were hit and miss. Mexican chicken was on the burnt side of well cooked. The Risotto was overly salty and the Lamb Burger was tasteless and under seasoned.

Desserts were looking good- Creme Egg Brownie sounded amazing but was more a sponge than a brownie with the Creme Egg burnt, no caramel sauce, although stated on the menu, never arrived.

Service was ok but little things let the side down unfortunately.

Prices a little steep - something I have no problem paying IF the whole package was superb. It was not!

Unfortunately the kitchen messing up and not holding the 4 spatchcock chicken let you down from the start and something which the managers should take up with the kitchen staff!
