on 25th july we were greeted with a warm welcome, i explained we would be going round the back into the garden and was eating, no problem menu was given to me straight away, and ordering the food was explained, i asked if you had sausage and mash yes we do as a main meal and smaller meal, Great one of our party wanted this to eat.

when time to order i Went inside to be serviced quickly, happy, with smiles, drinks brought to us outside promptly, our meals all arrived promptly and very tasty. Did we need anything else? then later on they checked on us to see if all was ok. Brillant service and great food thank you to all four staff who looked after us. yes we will be back! yes we would recommend!

What a little belter of a pub!

We originally ate here a year or so ago during a winter-day visit to Sidmouth and needed to warm up - the food was great and staff were very friendly. Having returned frequently as the year warmed up, it became clear the struggle for tables in The Anchor Inn was real! We always book a table to avoid disappointment now!!

We had lunch there yesterday and everything was great yet again!! The only problem we had was finding a parking space in the town!!

Keep up the good work - we’ll be back again for sure!!

We recently ate here as a family (6 adults, 2 children under 5yrs old). As we walked through the door we were greeted by a very warm welcome from the gentleman behind the bar, he couldn't do enough for us to get us settled with boys (a great start in any family meal). The menu had a great selection of dishes including some local ones too, there was also a vast specials board to choose from. The food we ordered came & I can honestly say we haven't enjoyed a pub meal that much for a long time, the food was excellent, the service was swift & friendly. The portions we're very filling but we did like that they offered most of the mains as smaller portions for the little appetites in the group. Not enough people leave good feedback these days but you guys deserve it & we will be back for sure on our next visit to Sidmouth, thank you so much �

The Anchor Inn is just great fab food fab beer and wine chilled just right food excellent and served by friendly and efficient staff

We love to visit this pub when we are in Sidmouth.

Really lovely place, Trevor and Jo are fantastic and very generous people! If you are ever in Sidmouth, and want to have a meal or a pint, you will not be disappointed!!

Really friendly staff, good beer and lovely food, the whitebait starter was huge, enough for a main meal for me. Lamb rump with mash was lovely, as was the whole trout with baby potatoes and veg; very reasonable prices, would recommend.

My hubby and i eat here often great pub very friendly can honestly say the cottage pie is the best anywhere (they even give me bread and butter) would sooner eat here than anywhere else.

Lovely cosy pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere. I had a fabulous crab sandwich (even thought it wasn't on the evening menu the chef obliged) It was super fresh bread and filled with tasty crab 🦀. My partner had the mushroom and spinach lasagne which was also very tasty. Fantastic.

Ken and myself have had plenty of meals at the Anchor since Trevor and Denise have ran the Anchor went there March with Family we all had different, which we could not fault trouble was by the time I had starter and main I did not have room for one of their delicious puds this particular night I had off the special board usually I have their FISH PIE absolutely delicious and top staff taboot! X

I cannot speak about the food, although I have other people speak well of it. What I am recommending is the friendliness of the staff in setting up a last minute venue. Thank you very much.

Had a lovely lunch here on Tuesday with my daughters, the food was lovely, the service was good and the atmosphere was good too.

It was really busy, but didn't have to wait long, will definitely be back.

Definitely made the right choice for lunch. Great value for money sandwich with extras & meals from light bite menu. Service was quick & the waitress even got water for our dog, which was kind.

Came tonight for our final family meal before returning home and what a fantastic end to our holiday it was. Food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was fantastic! The landlord even gave the kids a free chocolate bar for their politeness and manners. Really relaxed family environment. Will be back again next year for sure ��

Another fantastic meal here. For the first time had the Sunday roast. Wow! We both had the roast beef with all the trimmings, so flavoursome. Well done chefs. Bar & waiting staff friendly & professional as always. Deffinately have another one when we visit again for our (anniversary). But this time will book a table in advance as it's such a popular place. Thank you.

Absolutely fabulous A1. Home cooked food and first class staff.

Went yesterday for the folk festival one round of drinks pint of fosters and 1/2 a Heineken and 1/2 soda came to £6.05 then the next time we ordered it was £8.20... soda apparently classes as lemonade we were told ... as I work as a bar manager I definelty know it does not unless your trying to rip people off. however When we questioned this the girl behind the bar said that a soda shandy and a lemonade shandy is priced the same on the till and they had been doing it all week which is poor if thanks the case. but she did refund the difference back to us in the end.



Had some food also ribeye steak asked for rare came out rare 🖒 that's what I like. All in all other than the mix up with drinks thrown in with how busy it was very nice clean and tidy pub.
