The Bhavan, London Description

The Bhavan is the largest centre for traditional arts and culture outside India.
Located in West Kensington, London, it is both a performing arts school and venue.
We run over 23 courses in classical Indian music, dance, languages, art, art history and yoga, which are highly attended during the year.
We are also home to a 100 performances annually.

Some of the artistes who have graced our venue? Pandit Ravi Shankar, Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna, Gundecha Brothers. Come join us!

The high-profile event is very well attended with over 300 guests annually, including dignitaries from the British Asian community and House of Lords Members. Last year, these included Baroness Usha Prashar, Lord Swraj Paul, Lord Navnit Dholakia, the High Commissioner of India to the U.K., His Excellency Mr. Y.K. Sinha and our Chair...man Mr. Joginder Sanger, one of the UK’s top Hoteliers.
You also get to enjoy authentic Indian classical arts with both students and teachers giving performances across an evening of delectable Indian vegetarian street food and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a 3-course dinner.
This would be the 31st year of the Annual Diwali Fundraising Gala, celebrating the valuable work of our charity. The money raised goes a long way in supporting our future work. We welcome anyone interested in supporting us by attending this prestigious event. Dr. Surekha Mehta is the driving force behind behind the campaign this year, with able support from the staff and volunteers at The Bhavan.

Legendary musician Annapurna Devi, of Maihar Gharana passed away today. In tribute, listen to one of her rare recordings. The Indian Sitar and Surbahar player of Hindustani classical music, Annapurna Devi was the daughter and disciple of Allauddin Khan.

The Bhavan is an excellent performing arts school - one of a kind in this country - multicultural - we are so grateful to our daughter Abbeyrame's dance Guru Sri Prakash Yadagudde, Vocal Guru Sivasakthi Sivanesan and all the Gurus at the Bhavan who work tirelessly to teach their students to excel in their preferred art form - It is run by Mattur Nandakumara and his staff to a very high standard - children are taught discipline and motivation by their gurus - highly recommend the Bhavan to study Indian culture and various art forms
