Had a really good lunch here today, food was super tasty (chicken wings were delicious) and reasonably priced for the large portion sizes. Black pudding scotch egg was banging! We’ll be back!!!!

Came in after driving past many of times,was pleasantly surprised,absolutely love the new decor, and the bird seed dispensers so cozy and lovely atmosphere,drinks are really reasonably priced,bar staff so friendly and helpful,I chose the quarter chicken with garlic mash,was amazed,so tasty and great portion sizes too,other half had the beef burger and sweet potato fries,he said it was the best he's had,food prices was good too! Also decided to read through the reviews,came across most of them saying drinks was far to pricy,I actually found them cheaper than most places we've been,people want quality,yet don't want to pay the price,will certainly be returning,amazing food,place,staff and atmosphere,well done to you all,thanks for a wonderful chilled out night

My review is for the hostel part of The Birds. Cheap price and thanks to the central line you're reasonably fast in the city center. Residents in the hostel are amazing, and the Staff is really cool as well. But It seems like they are mismanaged by their higher ups. the employees are so busy that Friday nights they don't pick up the phone number provided for checkin for hours on end. Once you're checked in you are provided with a 24h phone number to call when you return to the hostel after partying way beyond midnight, but the person taking care of that phone is a very sound sleeper, to put it mildly. Needed to keep the phone ringing for 25 minutes while being in the freezing cold, until someone finally picked the phone up and let me in. As the staff was so busy they didn't get to explain to me how to checkout when the pub is still closed, so I had to wake up the 24h phone guy once more, when I left in the early morning. Long story short, get more employees that can solely focus on the hostel and make the way you run the hostel more organised. Then your hostel would be worth a 5 star rating, no doubt.

Had Sunday lunch here today and was disappointed. There were only two options for the roast: chicken or a vegetarian Wellington. There was only a few spoonfulls of vegetables and no stuffing or pigs in blankets, although there was a large Yorkshire pudding.



With several places locally offering a wider range of meats and serving larger portions of veggies, for a similar price, The Birds needs to up it's game.



We won't be returning, at least not on a Sunday.
