The Birds Nest Description

WHO WE ARE

The Birds Nest has evolved into a fantastic, international music and arts venue while retaining its original South London flavour. Located at the end of Creekside and on the borders of Greenwich and Deptford, the pub is a hub of artists and musicians. Live music varies from folk to hardcore punk, Blues to Ska, established well known bands, to up-and-coming local talent, The Birds Nest always has quality live music.
You will also find a wide choice of delicious meat, fish and vegan burgers at affordable prices and served throughout the day as well as traditional Sunday Roast’s with the option of meat, vegan or vegetarian.

Formerly The Oxford Arms the pub has hosted such big names as Squeeze and Dire Straits and continues today to bring top bands to Deptford. Further back in the 16th century, the pub was a centre for arts. Deptford Theatre was joined to the pub, the playwright, Christopher Marlowe was connected to this theatre.

WHAT'S ON

Presently the pub has live original music and performances on Fridays & Saturdays with occasional Sundays.

A popular feature of the pub is its happy hour. Monday to Friday 5pm to 7pm, when all pints are only £3. 50 each.

**Please Note**
Most of the gigs here are put together by outside promoters so please contact them if you wish to play, not us.

What a fantastic venue! . Great people all so friendly and welcoming. Engineer was an absolute star. This is one of those genuine old school rock venues you know when you walk in its going to be great.

Top place 5 starz for sure.

User

They do a tasty vegan roast!! Totally stoked about that. That aside it is an awesome pub. Different mix of people, cool vibes and great music. Would highly recommend

The best, weirdest, most unpredictable, unpretentious, pirate pub, perfect pub people, you can ever wish for! ...a real diamond in the rough!

The Nest has been my go to pub for at least the last six years, and it never fails to deliver. An awesome selection of live music, on a good few nights of the week. Good ales and ciders. Reasonably priced good food, cooked with pride. A fun and attentive staff, that provide the food and drink that we crave. And a varied, and interesting crowd of regulars, all of which leads to a great atmosphere any day of the week, that keeps me coming back time and again.

So if you've not been, and you're reading this. Come and say hi. You'll not regret it!

The Birds Nest is without doubt one of the best pubs in London, great music, great food and beer selection, super friendly boozer with good staff and a nice crowd. Discovered this place a few years ago on a lost weekend in Deptford, returned yesterday after far too long a break... definitely coming back again sooner now I work close by. Lovely!

Simply the best. Best food. Best beers. Best people. Lots of dogs.

Richard is the best. He is meticulous, a craftsman with an engineer's sensibility. If it can be improved, he will see it and make it better. Richard has done (and continues to do) a lot of work for me and I'd struggle to trust many others it.

User

One of the best. When fox and 12 bar closed down this pub had it all and more. Great bands. Art gallery which ive also had my exhibition in as well as performed in with Red Poets. Love their food! People are friendly and bar staff are cool and really well mannered. I heard its under threat from property developers so support this pub!

User

Most free thinking, and musicly oriented pub in the land. Always something interesting going on, with a great selection of tipple, and a tasty as hell menu, to rival any fine dining establishment. Crowd is welcoming fun, and super friendly

Lovely Sunday roast dinners!!!!....Good size plate of food,..veg not over done,..potatoes nice and crispy yet fluffy on inside (just how I like em!!!),..no skimping on the meat portions either!!!,( noted they offer a vegetarian and vegan alternative for those non meat eaters)..yorkshire pudding just right...not too much, yet not too little gravy...very good price and service!!!...So enjoyed the 70's retro background music whilst waiting for my food,..then live blues n jazz band whilst I was eating. All in all a Sunday Roast with a difference, good food, good music, great atmosphere,..a totally enjoyable experience. Thank you. Much P&L.xx.

Independently owned pub with an independent and entertaining crowd. It's had its ups-and-downs whilst still managing to attract a loyal following but the new owner, who has been involved for some years now, has taken it in to something of a renaissance without forgetting what makes it tick. Good and enthusiastic bar staff too. Regular live music, based on a long tradition, for all sorts of tastes -some you'll love and some you'll hate - and lots of other stuff going on. Also very good food, freshly prepared and served in generous portions. A chain of Birds Nests across the country would revolutionise the pub trade but that would risk watering it down!

I want to move in
