Wearing just as well as the man himself! If, like us, you’re still buzzing from Tiger Woods’ victory at The Masters, step back in history to see the Champion’s shirt, hat and glove from the 2000 Open at St Andrews. #TigerWoods #Golf #GolfHistory #TheOpen #StAndrews @ The British Golf Museum - St Andrews

Would the person who left their bat car in the Museum Shop please come and pick it up. It's playing havoc in the galleries: driving in with the Captain, jamming the road to The Open, and hogging the putting green.

Cafe at the museum will be closed from 12 noon on Thursday 11th April. This is due to a private function and will be open as normal on Friday 12th at 9.30am.
The Museum and shop will remain open on Thursday afternoon until 5pm.

What are you doing this weekend?
You should be coming to see our new exhibition "The Golfers: A Grand Match", which is open from tomorrow.
The exhibition celebrates the impressive painting from Cupar born artist, Charles Lees.
... It portrays a foursomes match on the St Andrews Links, in which the great and the good of golfing society in Scotland are featured.
Rarely seen artworks and objects from the Club's collection are also included in the display.
If you do come to see the painting, why not recreate some of the poses and tag us in your photos.

The Kangaroo's Paw Trophy is for the Lowest Net Handicap Score in the Royal and Ancient Golf Club's Spring Medal Competition. It was gifted to the Club from the Australian Golf Union. Can you guess what else it was used for?

We've had two great sessions of Golf Memories this week.
Yesterday, we welcomed new members to our St Andrews Group and today we met a member of Pitreavie Golf Club who had witnessed Ben Hogan win The Open in 1953.
If you are interested in coming along to either group, contact Hannah Fleming on 01334 460054 or hannahfleming@randa.org

In celebration of International Women's Day, colleagues from The R&A attended a networking breakfast in Cafe at the museum this morning.
Jackie Davidson, Assistant Director - Golf Development spoke about the importance of building strong, supportive networks and we shared stories about the people who have made a positive impact on our lives and careers.
Assistant Curators, Rebecca and Hannah then brought everyone into the galleries to highlight objects in the collection fro...m inspiring female players and champions such as Joyce Wethered, Poppy Wingate, Laura Davies and Georgia Hall.
It was a highly engaging morning, and wonderful to see our colleagues enthusiastic about the history and stories of such pioneering women in golf.

Another peek into the Ladies Golf Union photograph albums provides us with some perfect images to share on International Women's Day.
The 116th Womens Amateur will be held at Royal County Down this year.
The Club hosted in 1920, with Cecil Leitch taking home the trophy for a second time. She would win the Championship four times in total.
... The players in the first image are said to be "inspecting the local rules".
Which player will have her name engraved on same trophy this year?

It is #WorldBookDay and we have looked out these instructional books from female Champions Joyce Wethered and May Hezlet.
'Ladies Golf' by Hezlet was published in 1904 and 'Golfing Memories and Methods' by Wethered published in 1933.
They include helpful information for golfers; such as handicapping details, notes on form and correct golf shots. Hezlet enlisted her friends and colleagues, including Rhona Adair to illustrate shots. Wethered talks about the physical aspects o...f playing golf and goes into great detail but she also is keen to discuss the mental strength needed for golf.
These are wonderful insights into the mind of the inspirational female golfers.

Visited with our small dog and decided to sit outside in the sun , as you would, on ordering coffee and cake not cheap I might add was given it in a plastic takeaway carton , I asked if we could have cups and plates , only normal, to be told we don't do croquery outside even although loads of people were already doing this outside , to cut a long story etc had to protest to get plates but still ended up with takeaway cup which the wind blew about along with other plastic items, defiantly won't be back the service was awful great shame in such a beautiful area , Marty

Visited on the day of the Kelpie Maquetttes being unveiled - popped into Cafe as they are one of my valued customers - we arrived after service due to the circumstances of what was happening that evening but the kitchen staff and front of house Aaron, Steph and Paul said we could have hot food if we so wished what a lovely thing to do - soup was delicious and so was the sandwich also the Nachos were too. Great service and cheerful staff plus the views are stunning. Will return 😊😊

User

Very pleasantly surprised. Went as a family of four (only one very keen golfer), but we all really enjoyed it. Would thoroughly recommend it.

User

The museum was excellent. So much information, and original memorabilia. Would recommend a visit.

Beautiful greens and fabulous ocean view. Museum had lots of information about the history of golf.

User

After a walk went for a coffee but honey and parsnip soup won the day. Delicious and came away with the knowledge of the added spice ingredient! Idea of having breakfast before a walk was talked about.........

User

A wonderful experience. Interaction, informative and fun whether an avid fan or just along for the ride. A beautiful location and a clean and systematic system to view the museum.

Cheers from St. Andrews!

User

Mycket bra, vilken historia man upplvde på detta ställe.

User

Lovely atmosphere and good food. Very friendly staff

User

I AM DELIGHTED TO DROP A SHORT NOTE . LOVE IS WONDERFUL AND POWERFUL CHEERS IBRAHIM

User

Always visit here for coffee and food.

Food is overpriced, guess you pay for the view, the food service is not always great and more attention to detail, buns only buttered on one side?

Each time I visit there is different staff, as always, in St Andrews cafes and restaurants.

Overall the museum is great and as I say a great place for coffee.

User

Always good and lovely enviriment with super views!

User

Lovely venue, fantastic views, ........... but chaotic service. The management need to sort this out!

We've been in three times now and its been not good every time unfortunately.

Not the staff's fault -- just the system.

User

Extremely embarrassing that on a Sunday afternoon in July, with hundreds, perhaps thousands, of visitors for the Kelpie Maquettes and a Bandstand Concert going on, there were no contingency plans for the water boiler breaking down except a notice proudly announcing "No hot drinks".....call out an emergency electrician, perhaps? go and buy a couple of kettles from Tesco and give away free cups of tea and coffee? Borrow an urn from the restaurant next door or a local church?? Use the kitchen in the R&A (which owns the British Golf Museum, I think)?? And to have only one scone and two or three cakes left at 3.30 pm in the middle of the afternoon at the height of the tourist season??? Ironically, at the Kelpie Reception held in the very same room the previous evening, we heard about various exciting plans to improve the St Andrews visitor experience!!
