The Brompton Fountain Description
We offer support to families in several ways. Our main projects are highlighted below but please explore this section of our site to find out more information and details about what is currently going on.
Being in hospital is a particularly worrying time for families. The children are undergoing treatments and operations and, along side that, there may be the needs of siblings to juggle or a job to hold down. Parents need some time for themselves as well. We visit families staying at The Royal Brompton to listen to their concerns, give support and tell them more about our charity and how we can help them in the future. We can also put families in touch with others who have been through similar situations.
Most of the children treated by The Royal Brompton and Harefield Trust have chronic conditions and need help and support during their everyday lives at home. Once again, we can put families in touch with others who have similar worries and practical difficulties. We have regular family fun days to bring families together to have fun and a break from the daily routine and to establish friendships that we hope will continue and form the basis of a support network. Brompton Fountain members are invited to join our email list enabling them to post experiences and seek advice and support from other members.
Our support is not just for parents. Brothers and sisters of children with chronic conditions often feel anxious, stressed and left out.

'Harry was born on 31st March 2017 and on this day our family of four became complete, our eldest son Oliver was 3 at the time! At four months old our world was turned upside down when we were told that Harry had severe Aortic Stenosis and he would require open heart surgery within the next week!
... We had no idea what the future had in store for Harry and for us but thanks to the AMAZING doctors, nurses and surgeons at Royal Brompton Hospital Harry is now a healthy, happy little boy! His surgery was so successful that his condition is now classed as ‘minor’ and he may never have to have open heart surgery again! We were absolutely delighted to receive an incredible donation of £28,000 from Paddy and Marina Milburn and family. They hosted an event in aid of our charity after their daughter Clemmie had heart surgery at Royal Brompton Hospital earlier this year. Thank you for your generosity and fantastic fundraising and to all of your friends who supported you in raising the funds.
