Inspired by the beauty of juxtaposing materials, provocative London designer Adele Brydges crafts evocative tools and objects that promote self-connection and sexual wellbeing. The designer, who studied ceramics at Central Saint Martins, creates full collections and runs workshops (aptly titled ‘Decorate a Dildo’) so that others can learn her craft. This month she’s bringing the event to The Collective Old Oak. To celebrate, we asked Adele to play ‘Caption that Image’ with posts from her sexy Instagram.
Here, she shares a peek into her world.

Congratulations to our amazing member Adam, celebrating two years at The Collective! 🎉 He shares some #WednesdayWisdom:
“Yesterday marked 2 years living in the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed. It may have been my first time moving out of home, but this place has really changed my life for the better.
Surrounding myself with others who have the same motivation and drive has put me in a whole new level of transformation and growth. My recommendation: Surround yourself with those who will lift you and not those who subconsciously bring you down.”

hey guys, I really like your idea of ‘co-living’. Fully equipped, close to people, friendly environment. I think it will become very popular among young professions. I’d like to see more co-living properties in downtown London.

User

What an amazing concept 2016 lifestyle living!

All you need under one roof with amazing peeps all around and all inclusive .

Great commute distance ...amazing collection in the staff hotel like , waiting ,meeting eating drinking all possible.

Still not fully launched but already falling in place superbly.

User

Well I shared the place with my friend in one of your studios last week. So honestly I am not 100% qualified to make this review as a tenant. But the place really amazed me. The room is not that large but it is comfortable enough to feel at home. I love the design and the atmosphere there, not to mention the concept "co-living". Having experience with school accommodations, shared flats and personal studio, I've got to say it s easier said than done to get ppl live together, share lifestyle and actually make friends. But the Collective has got it right. Ace!

User

Truly inspiring company and culture. What they are creating for young working professionals is something different, innovative and exciting. The company ethos and the vision I have no doubt will create huge success and communities in a way we have not seen before.

Connecting individuals through working and living, this is a lifestyle everyone will want to be part of!

User

This in comparison to the alternatives available for the price is the perfect balance between privacy - you have your own bedroom bathroom and maybe cooking facilities behind your own lockable front door but in the same building you have friends company and communal spaces. The friendly faces of the staff welcoming you home can really lift your spirits. I have met some amazing people here. It is the people who make it but many places in London do not offer privacy and community

User

The studio I am living at is lovely. It's very bright and whenever I have a question the customer service always responds promptly and gently. I have friends moving to London and I will definitely recommend to stay in one of their properties. I've seen pics of a new building the've created in west London so that should be a great experience and a great opportunity for them to meet new people

User

The collective is a thriving and exciting community where you can go to events, lectures, art exhibits, interesting courses, fitness classes and more almost every night of the week, right in your own home! Everything you need is included with the rent (bills, Wi-Fi, linens, cleaning services etc.). It's so easy to jump right into this amazing place and way of life! The only downside of this place is that the laundromat in the building is run by an external company and that company is absolutely terrible :p the machines are often broken and the company takes forever to come fix them. But, the people here are nice and we make due!

User

The Collective is not just a house, it's a home.

If you're like me and you like to be where things are happening, Old Oak takes the cake.

I can: make friends, work out, shop, eat, play, learn, work, collaborate, be entertained and get a massage all under one roof.

Situated in Zone 2, between the Central Line (North Action station) and the Bakerloo Line (Willesden Junction) I can get into central in about half an hour. And there's overground as well at Willesden Junction station, so we are well connected to get anywhere in the city!

Very friendly and responsive staff who are dedicated to making our experience as comfortable and fun as possible!

I found my tribe. I found my home:)

User

The Collective can be what you want it to be. If you need a modern base in London with literally everything you need under one roof, it’s great. If you want a community of friends to hang out with, learn from and network with, it’s all there too. I’ve lived here for nearly 2 years, and it has been great. Met people I now call best friends, had some incredible experiences and learnt so much. It’s a fantastic place to live. Try it...

User

Thank you for the Great Work you are doing that give the opportunity to the youth to impact the lives of many people in their communities.

User

Thank goodness for the Collective! I'm so glad my flatmate and I found this place - It has everything you need and more! It feels like home coming back to the Old Oak and is great for networking and socialising. If you need a place to stay in London, I fully recommend the Collective.

User

Me, my husband and our 18y old daughter came to London to improve our English. We came across an add featuring a huge place where you could have your own apartment and share with others kitchen, and other amazing things like sauna, library, cinema room, all bills included. That was exactly what we needed! But, I learned very soon that this is not what makes this place so special. There is a whole community of people that love to share, help each other, make living here better and participate to a number of events as salsa, English and drawing classes, parties, live music, choir, drinks... Of course there are downsizes: sometimes people leave the kitchen untidy, the washing machines are not all functioning all the time. But, this is not a hotel, it's home and those things happens in any home. Also, with so many new and amazing ideas flowing around, organization could be better. In my point of view, that is a small price to pay to be in such a live, new, diverse and creative place. In any case, management is always open to new ideas and feed-back, and tries to help us to live a smooth, interesting and comfortable life here.

User

I’ve been a resident at the Collective since December 2016 and have just renewed for another year. After being a co-worker for a number of years I had a lot of fun and wanted to have the same environment on the living side.

Co-living isn’t for everyone and it can be hard to live with over 500 people but for me it works perfectly and has had a huge impact on my life. It does take time to get used to a smaller space and it can feel confined and small but if I want to be sociable I can be, making the most of the large communal areas such as the bar and restaurant, spa, gym or cinema.

The friendships and fun I’ve had over the last 16 months have wiped out anything negative that i’ve experienced. For me it's home and I couldn't be happier here

User

If you are going to move to London, or you would like to find a new place to live, the Collective is what you need. I moved in this amazing co-living a few months ago, and I feel that this experience is unique.

A place where every day you can choose wonderful activities (yoga, brunch, English classes, seminars etc), where you can easily meet a lot of new friends, where you feel safety night and day as you were living in a hotel, and where the staff is always ready to help you and to make you feel at home!

User

I've been a fan of the founders for a while, and started helping them think through what's going to make them super-special over the next 5 years. They showed me Old Oak - wow. Literally, wow. The building/service is flippin amazeballs and the team building & supporting it are almost religiously determined to make sure every guest thinks it's the best experience they've ever had. Can't wait to move in...

User

I was sceptical about this shared living with adults but it's one of those things that once you've tried, you won't be able to go back! I've met so many life long friends, learnt how to cook and it's helped me grow my business because of the connections. Having the community team on hand is also amazing. I really do think co-living is the future!

User

I stayed in The Collective for a few nights as a guest and absolutely loved it! As an architect, I was intrigued by the clever use of space in order to comfortably accommodate as many people as possible. I loved the community, the different events that take place there and the staff.

User

I stayed as a guest for the night, it was ideal and good value for money- much prefer this than paying for an overpriced hotel! The room was very clean and had everything I needed for a night in London (shampoo, shower gel, soap, hair dryer and a towel were all included).

I was on the 8th floor and the view was quite decent too.

The service from reception was good, the food and coffee in the bar was good!

Two of my friends are residents here and showed me round the building and I was impressed with the different amenities the residents have access too!

I would definitely book this again.

User

I moved to The Collective Old Oak back in August 2017 thinking I had bagged me a fully serviced accommodation. What I got was 10x more; a transformational experience. The Collective’s plethora of weekly activities, warm and genuine staff, resources and sense of community gave me the inspiration and courage to slay my fears and pursue my dreams of becoming a business owner. The Collective continues to support me in my journey as an entrepreneur and owner of Mind Medication Limited. The Collective is more than a co-living experience, it’s where dreams come true!

User

I moved into The Collective when I moved to London by myself to start a new job. For me, it was the perfect solution: you have your own private space when you prefer to be alone and you have amazing common spaces when you want to be with friends or meet new ones. The fact that everything is included in one transparent monthly lease fee makes life much easier as you have clear insight in what you spend every month. The quality of the rooms and the building is high and there are many events you can enjoy. I have made friends for life in The Collective and I would move back in if I ever go back to London.

Bear in mind that the rooms are on the small side, but the communal spaces definitely make up for that as you won't spend that much time in your room anyway.

For every (young) professional moving to London, I would say this is a much better alternative than living in a dodgy share house. Worth a try for sure!

User

I moved from Sydney to London back in July 2016. Not knowing anyone and not knowing exactly what I was looking for I stumbled across The Collective which just felt right at the time. Going on 2 years strong living here and things only seem to get better.

User

I love it :)

I just wish that there were more affordable options/alternatives as it's a bit steep!

User

I lived here for almost 2 years. The experience was great! I was renting somewhere else in Zone 2/3 before and back then I was paying more in rent, bills, utilities and taxes than I did at The Collective.

I like the all-included monthly licence payment and the whole concept of Co-living. On-site gym is a great perk, as well as the option to entertain in the public spaces. One of my favourite hangouts in the rooftop terrace! Didn't have this much space to practice my martial arts in my previous flat.

If you're the social type, the plentiful and varied events put on by the team are great! Co-living is a cool, modern concept and is definitely something I'd recommend to my friends looking for an alternative to flat sharing or renting an apartment. Two thumbs up!

User

I couldn't have asked for more!

I am a student here in London looking to make new friends and grasp exciting opportunities in the business world - I am happy to say that I nailed my decision to base my self at the Old Oak.

The communal areas provided me the opportunity to network with other undergrads, but mainly post grads and young professionals, who would tell me the ins and outs of their stat-up stories - what to do, and what not to do. What a time.

User

Honestly this is one of my best renting experience in London. The studio is sooo amazing, providing me with excellent living condition and opportunities to meet others from all over the world. I love it and will definitely recommend it to my friends who will be in London.

User

Great place, great staff, great concept.

User

Great location and facilities.Staff are very friendly and supportive

User

Brillant !!!

User

Can't wait to move in to Old Oak next week - was there this morning and it's looking amazing. Bring on the spas, yoga sessions, supper clubs and rooftop terrace...

Best team ever.

User

As a professional I find the place perfect! Gym, library and working station, small supermarket, spa, modern and cozy rooms and shared spaces! A new way to live, a new way to share. I love the collective!

User

As a newbie to London, The Collective has been a great way to make friends and understand London better. I recommend it for anyone looking for a place to live, especially young professionals who are new to the city!

User

An inspiring place to live, full of interesting and insightful people. Fully recommended!

User

An absolutely beautiful place to live. Full of individuals that come together to create a diverse, friendly and progressive community that inspires EVERYONE to grow no matter their background or aspirations.

User

A true community that allowed me to feel at home in a strange city. I made friends and created a family here. There is so much to do and provided by the people behind the scenes but also by the community itself, like workshops, discussions, drinks, and the list goes on.

If you look for a community that makes you never feel alone then you are definitely in the right place here!

I’ve been a resident since September 2016 for my third year of uni. I transferred from Uni halls (The Costume Store) and honestly I did not enjoy it at the beginning because it was new so a lot of things were not in place.

However the convenience of everything in one place made me stay and I think it was the best decision I’ve made in terms of living in London. I left uni halls because the only way to socialize was to get drunk and to smoke which I did not relate with. I found it hard to find open minded people and that’s exactly what the collective offered. I made friends for life in this building and it just reassured me I can be myself.

What I love about the building is that there are so many different types of people, different backgrounds. You will definetly find your type of people here, no matter what you are looking for. You have so many things going on that your social life will be the last problem on your list. If you are an open minded chilled person, I highly recommend you moving here. I understand some past residents are complaining about staff, building issues which are all true. Yes there have been problems with noise, staff, how things are organised. However it’s a new concept, people make mistakes and learn from them. This can be taken care of however finding cool amazing genuine people, that you cannot do anything about but unintentionally this building was able to bring people together. I’m giving 4/5 stars because I believe there’s always room for improvement however right now, I think the collective has lived beyond my expectations.

London can be so lonely and I never thought I’d be able to call it home until now ❤️ Well done 👌🏼

User

long and emotional story -- from my experience at the Collective Camden- its all convenient regarding all bills included and weekly cleaning, however the agent constantly gave me wrong information which i had to double check with someone else on the team (head of sales).. Also wanted to move out early, which they said was ok if i found someone else to move in. so i found someone who agreed to take the lease for 2 months, and i agreed to pay the last month's rent. However he had to move out after a week to go back to his country but he had already paid his rent n deposit for the room (so 2 months rent). just yesterday, i received an email stating 'OVERDUE RENT' and that we would be taken to court if we didn't pay rent. which is confusing, where did that his month's rent go to??? i emailed them, understandably frustrated about their constant errors in communication, only to receive an angry email stating that my complaints were fictitious and ludicrous, and that the new tenant had in fact felt DUPED by me into moving into the room! how would i have duped him??! totally groundless accusations btw, as i even texted the replacement tenant to ask if he had told them he felt duped. nope. he hadnt. he had said it was his own mistake. (and even so, this is totally irrelevant to what we were discussing, as he had already signed the contract and paid!) so it seems members of staff are making up some bullshit to try to get me to back down.

and still no admission that they made a mistake in sending me an OVERDUE RENT email and that they would take me to court if i didnt pay. btw, this company has caused a lot of stress over the past few months with their contradicting info, trying to get us to pay rent we didnt owe, false accusations, etc etc. it's always fine until it comes to money, isnt it? at least admit when you've made a mistake though. theyre very unprofessional when there are problems. (and by the way, even if my emails sound a a bit rude or angry for good cause, it's not MY job to behave in a professional way. but it is theirs.)

also, receptionist is v unhelpful and never replies text messages. if you call him he might answer. if you ask him 'did you receive my text?' he grudgingly admits he did.

User

Very visitor-unfriendly. You have no clue what a coworking space is all about if you have to schedule a meeting to sit down and work a few hours or just visiting the city for a few days. Also you prove yourself to be clueless about the ever growing digital nomad community and how it "works" when showing so little regard for drop-in visitors.
