About The Faversham Society & Fleur De Lis Heritage Centre

A membership Society celebrating Faversham's long and diverse heritage whilst helping to shape its future.

The Faversham Society & Fleur De Lis Heritage Centre Description

The Faversham Society has evolved from a small group of interested and influential opponents to poorly planned modernisation of Faversham in the early 1960's to a large multi-functional organisation.

Its many roles include the collection and preservation of material evidence of Faversham's past; research, and publishing from the wider informational assets in the museum's archives and beyond, whilst also answering enquiries from around the globe; creation of permanent and temporary exhibitions on aspects of Faversham's history whilst also displaying work by local groups and artists; offers a programme of learning activities and opportunities, whilst also supporting educational institutions and groups; provides tourism and accommodation advice and support to the widest audience; maintains a watchful and professional eye on Planning and Development issues in Faversham, commenting where necessary to protect Faversham's unique character and built environment.

We are still looking for volunteers to help out at Open House on 13th and 20th of July specifically. If you can help out please give us a call or send us an inbox message. Thanks!

Also coming incredibly soon now is the 50th Open House! Just over a week to go until we have the first Saturday of the set. This is a really enjoyable opportunity to see some of the town's most interesting properties in a way you don't normally get to. A good day for all the family and your ticket will allow you entry across each of the three Saturdays, meaning you can get to see as many of the 50+ as possible!

Less than a week to go! So excited for this year's Open Gardens! £6 per person or £10 for two, for a great day out :)

Help required! Mike Ivatt - who has made features for BBC Kent - is looking to mark the fact that it's been a whole 50 years since Faversham's first Open House and would like to interview anybody who may remember taking part in the first one! Also interested to hear from anybody else who has been taking part in the scheme for an extensive period. These interviews will be featured on Radio Faversham ( https://radiofaversham.org ) / BBC Radio Kent and online. Please send us a private message if you are interested in helping out and feel free to mention this to those who are perhaps not on Facebook. Thanks in advance.

Help required! We are getting closer and closer to Open House but are still very much in need of volunteer stewards to welcome visitors into the special properties we have on display.
If you can help at all (shifts are 3 hours long) we would really like to hear from you. You can either call the Fleur on 01795 534542, pop in and see us, or send us an Inbox message here on Facebook.

It's just one month to go until Faversham Society Open Gardens - just a reminder that the tickets are now on sale in the Fleur - don't forget to pick up yours, and don't forget about this cool competition we will be running on the day! A great opportunity to get creative and showcase your talents!
