New build at the back of the Fitzroy which will make the new top bar bigger and the new kitchen above that bigger also ! Work is really coming along there !
Update ! ) no one is going to be going cold in the new Fitzroy with this network of pipes ! Lol
Staff accommodations and my flat have really taken shape even plaster on walls , lighting , central heating and so on !
Xmas update folks the Fitzroy as we know it is looking very different and there has been a lot of work achieved as you can all see !
What a difference a day makes middle wall has been demolished ! Great going guys .
Temporary supporting steel supports ready for demolishing middle wall of the building ! Some amazing transformations have taken place to the Fitzroy as we know it look out for more photos in the next few days !
Latest updates on works progress look no floors !
Where's the cellar gone where are we going to store the beer now ? It's total demolition and starting from scratch again !
The new staff rooms beginning to take shape !
Site visit today walking around with some of the workmen involved in the project !
As promised update on works in the old Fitzroy Tavern ! It's beginning to take shape as it's going to be when its finished the first photo is the going to be the staircase going down to the toilets in the cellar area !
Original ceilings and old coving that had been hiding for decades have now been exposed once again . While below the piles of rubble is piling even higher !
20 days now into the closure of the tavern and the place is is looking a little like a real building site to say the least !
More of the seating area that has vanished tables 1 to 5 are no longer there ! One of the more popular areas for patrons of the Fitzroy . There will now be a doorway in the same spot when we come back !
Day 12th of closing down and half of the bar has now gone ! These guys mean business !
1st of July 3 days into demolition the basement bar no longer exists !
Monday the 28th of June the demolition of the the righters and artist bar and the gents and ladies toilets begun !
Sunday 28th of June just one after closure the dismantling of the main bar area begun !
Well, we didn't bump into Augustus John, or any of his entourage, not surprisingly, but the venue is charming, the food was good, the selection of beers, wines and spirits was more than adequate (and reasonably priced - no more expensive than any other "decent" pub), and the staff extremely friendly and helpful (like most places, you get back what you put out).
A pilgrimage to all disciples of Bohemia.
Also, though right in the middle of town, sufficiently removed from Oxford Street/TCR as to deter the laziest, or least intrepid, of tourists... which can't be a bad thing.
We only popped in for a drink before going elsewhere for afternoon tea so we didn't sample the food. The pub itself was a revelation - it's like a tardis. It is huge on the inside. The barman was really friendly and there was a good selection of drinks. This is a Samuel Smith pub so it has a niche range of beers. The toilets were very impressive and very clean.
This is a beautiful pub. The staff are very friendly and the food good. The photos and artwork on the walls, in addition to the history of the place, make it even more pleasurable to be there of course.
Lovely place to visit - excellent food and service. Nicely refurbished and full of interesting history. Well worth a visit if you are in this part of London.
It's lovely what they've done with the place. All revamped. The public bar is very cosy. Glad to have it as my local.
It's a great bar, really nice owners!! You have to go there!!
Great pub. Plenty of memorabilia about the old Fitzrovia crowd. Good food, friendly staff and where else will you get a pint of bitter for only £3.20 in London?
Great pub, great location and fab food.... will definitely return
Great pub loved the alpine lager wee revisit next time down in London
Good old fashioned pub was quiet on Sunday afternoon nice stout love pubs like this .
gorgeous pub with so much history something to look at on every wall...nice food and beer
Nice and relaxed. Comfortable interior and friendly staff. However Easter weekend and they ran out of coffee. Apart from that will definitely be going again.
Liked it. Historic. Good location. Food good and not too poncy. What more do you need?
Homely place with good beer and food. We will definatly come again when in London
Good food ..bit expensive...good staff...lota history here..upstairs eat ing area a bit warm..they could do with opening a few windows...
First time I’ve been in the Fitz for quite a few years. Completely changed and was thinking I was going mad!! Small rooms rather than the large open area from years ago. Food was good and beer still good and not the most expensive pint in London.
... even though the beer was beer good and I liked the place it was rammed ... took my sister as she was keen on those pubs with literary connexions but it was like trying to have a nice time drinking beer on a central line train in the rush hour ...
Horrible renovation. It's tasteful and nicely done but unecessary and destroyed the history for those punters who know it. Hope they don't make a habit of doing the same for other jewels in the Sam Smiths crown!
Nice venue. Only sold 1 sweet rose wine and only 1 white wine. Which was not to my taste either. Red wine was to strong. Will not go back.
