The Friars, Aylesford Priory

What can I say for this beautiful place so I wrote it as a poem.

Delicate flowers

Glint in

Mornings

Pure sunlight

Flowing through

There carefree home

A garden sits

With Splashes of colour,

And Butterflies dip there wings

And glide upon

That summer wind

A golden glow

From the purest of light

radiant beams from

The sun A delight

Of creation

All creatures

Make about

There way

Collecting

And sharing there nectars

And passing through each day

How tender how gentle

Is there carefree way

How I envy

There free spirited

Play .

A timeless piece

Is mother nature

The greatest of all

Gifts given

Gifted to All humanity

Yet seldom do we appreciate

There hidden beauty

So powerful

Is this gift of love

How god created

The white winged dove

A sure sign

Of His heavenly care

For all this a world

We came across The Friars by chance as we were drove through the Kent countryside on the way to Rochester. Arrived during Mass and could hear the choir from the gates. Wonderful place, fantastic arcitecture, very tranquil. Would recommend visiting The Friars.

We attended a wedding in the barn. It is such a beautiful setting the staff were lovely. One of my favourite places. Also stayed in the accommodation which is basic but clean and as it's so historical who cares. I would recommend and certainly return

This is a fantastic place whatever your beliefs. We have played music here at both the Summer fayres and Christmas fayres for a number of years, and have had great times on all our visits. "Mullac a Boo"

Such a beautiful place to visit for any reasons. Lovely grounds and the Peace Garden is particularly special.

A selection of Chapels for Prayer or Silent Contemplation are available.

Nice Tea Room and Shop plus there's a small Pottery and shop on site.

Can get extremely busy on special Saints days or when other events are taking place.

My go-to place for peace and quiet in this loud and hectic world. Perfect for afternoon tea or nice lunch with my honey. Amazing, loving, caring people. Never fails to paint a big fat smile on my face.

My first visit in over twenty years. My wife and I were wondering where to go for a couple of hours and apropos nothing I said Aylesford. So Aylesford it was and we weren't disappointed. What struck us both was the serenity and the camaraderie, people seemed to have time for each other and whilst not speaking to every one we saw a smile and a nod spoke volumes! I certainly won't be leaving it another twenty years for my next visit!

Ma favourite place 2 be I have been coming here since I was 5 years old & now I bring ma son who is very unwell we love it & will continue our visits I had made wishes here in The Peace Garden & some have come true as crazy as that may sound I hope ma biggest dream will soon come x x x Thank You Aylesford x x x

I love it here. Immaculate grounds, great coffee shop and the most beautiful tranquil setting. You feel the weight lift from your shoulders as soon as you arrive. The summer fayre was brilliant too. Fantastic place.

I have fond Childhood memorys of the place going with my parents.I am not a particularly religious person,but you don't have to be,to take in the peace quiet and tranquility of it.I have been a few times in my adult years now and always enjoy the visits.Weekends tend to be very busy, particularly in the warmer weather,so probably best to avoid,unless you are attending a service or one of the many functions there.

Haven't been here for years. No I am a lot older I can appreciate the full beauty of the place. Certainly a great place to let go of everything and be alone to recharge those over used batteries

First visit today. Had a summer fayre on which was great. We will definitely be back again. Lovely and serene place to visit

Beautiful place. Calm and serene. Lovely coffee shop and shop. Staff are lovely too. Also the pottery place is amazing and you can take classes if you want to.

Beautiful place and can make any one feel at peace with themselves. I've been coming here since I was a little girl and will continue to as long as I'm able. I had my son's holy communion items blessed for his special day. We attended mass, which was taken perfectly. The lady in the shop was a star when I was picking the items I wanted and really helpful.

Amazing place! I was only passing by on my pilgrimage looking for some floor space to put my sleeping bag for the night, but was provided with a room, dinner and breakfast, just out of the goodness of their hearts. Very peaceful atmosphere.

Lovely setting just a shame I got food poisoning from the beef stew, services needs to be improved as all the food for our meal had been left out and uncovered, real shame as it was a family meal for my 50th

As always a tranquil haven in the middle of a very busy area. Went to Aylesford first in 1982 on retreat from West London Catholic Chaplaincy. Now brought my family here as a stop off on the way back from France to Wales. Peaceful spiritual and a friendly welcome!

A lovely place to go when you need a bit of peace. Amenities good and cafe a pleasant place to sit down, especially for a nice scone and jam and cup of tea. Lovely peace gardens and ducks on the pond. Very tranquil xxxxx

The classic car show was well attended, but it seemed that there were almost more classic cars in the car park than in the show ground. Sadly, lots of more modern cars in the show ground, rather than classic cars in those places. Lots of empty car spaces too. Disappointing, particularly as a classic car owner who could not get a show place booked weeks beforehand.
