We have visited a few time now. We are always made to feel very welcome. Always very pleased with our food and attentiveness of staff. Lovely to have somewhere that’s Dog and kid friendly.

User

We have just come for a little drive out for dinner and had the most gorgeous food here at the goshawk. The staff are so lovely and the views while sat outside are beautiful.

User

We had our sons christening here and I couldn’t fault a thing. The staff were extremely helpful in arranging and I felt like nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was amazing and all the guests mentioned how lovely it was. The space outside is also a bonus as the children were able to play and run about without disturbing other guests. Highly recommended

User

This is our favourite place to go for a meal.

In summer it's lovely to sit outside in sun or shade, especially if there's a bowls match going on on the green. In winter the open fires make for a cosy atmosphere. The food is consistently good and the staff always friendly.

For my coeliac husband it is a big advantage that the chef understands and caters for his gluten free diet....small things like gluten free gravy can make a big difference to a meal!

The Goshawk can get busy because it is deservedly popular, so if possible book ahead...it is well worth it!

User

Regularly eat here and always enjoy it. Meals a good size for the price and staff always friendly. Would highly recommend.

User

Lovely place can’t wait to come back In the winter and enjoy the great food again

User

Just had a gorgeous meal at the goshawk this dinner time. The food was beautiful, both mine and my daughters children’s meal. The staff are fantastic and can’t do enough for you and they definitely made sure all of our needs were met. I will certainly be returning with family and friends to try out the extensive gin menu on offer! I’ve added some photos in the comments of the food it was so well presented I couldn’t not

User

Great family friendly pub and lovely food. Excellent team who looked after us really well and took an interest in the children too. Food was tasty and we'll defiantly be back. Great playground in the back for the little ones too. Highly recommend.

User

Dinner for 70 and what a great job! All food came out on time and cooked to perfection. My fillet steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and was butter soft, chips and sides all fresh and dessert was spot on, cannot fault the service and the fact none of us had a complaint, will certainly be back with the dogs!!

User

Can only say if you didn't partake in the Goshawk Christmas menu you really missed out. Absolutely tremendous meal that was both extremely tastily and very filling! Excellent value for money on one of the busiest days of the year the person serving us came and asked at every stage if everything was ok... event though he seemed to be catering for over half of the restaurant! I have 3 small gripes (that are all personal to me.... I Like my sprouts, cauliflower to be slightly overcooked, Silvia is the opposite ... and I don't do skins on potatoes!!! Yes I am a weirdo but thats my problem) .... But forgiving all of that 11 out. of 10 for a Wonderfull Christmas meal on Christmas Eve!!! Well Done!!

User

A random Thursday tea out and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and especially the attentiveness of the staff, all 4 that dealt with us were brilliant

User

The staff great place lovely, just not busy only us in two more people, menu limited, not lot to choose, x

User

The food is actually pretty good, the prices are acceptable for what you get (meat roasts are particularly tasty), and the young people working there are very nice kids. There is a playground for little ones out back, which overlooks fields and horse pastures, and that is a very nice feature indeed. There's some health and safety fuss about eating near the playground, but only a short distance away you can still nosh and see your child falling off one of the swings in time to ring an ambulance. It's a pity you have to overhear some of the insipid commentary by the ridiculously posh Cheshire clientele. 'Money is no object, love!' (I actually heard this uttered aloud.) The parking lot apparently doubles as an Aston Martin showroom. If you can tune out the blithe privilege of the haves, it's a nice day out, and please don't blame the young wait staff for some of the more obstreperous customers, sweetie darling.

Have been bringing my wife here for years even had my parents 50th wedding anniversary here but have been a couple of times recently and after the last time will not be rushing back we went a few a months ago the food order came wrong it was replaced but the veg was left on the table hence cold the first steak was cold the second was tough nether ate the meal even the sauce was wrong what a shame a really good restaurant with really attentive staff now just passable

User

Went today as beautiful day and needed to be nearby as was picking daughter up from party so had a 3 hr window. Ordered and paid for drinks and asked staff behind bar for menu . So far so good . My hubby , myself and daughter all agreed was too hot for a big meal and fancied a sandwich each and a portion of chips . Deliberated for 5 mins then went to order , only to be told sorry no sandwiches on a Sunday ! The menu given clearly states available until 5 pm and not one member of staff( and there were plenty ) told us this was the case and no signs tell you either .

So went back to menu , whilst sitting at the table the waitress delivered sandwiches to the next table ! My hubby went back to bar only to be told that was a mistake and shouldn’t of been served !

Anyway , to cut a long story short we took our business elsewhere . Before I left I asked to spk to manager , I told him I was very disappointed, all he could say is it was a mistake of the staff that they served the sandwich ! I told him that he was the manager and should give his valued ( or should be ) customers a correct menu or at least tell them that a third of the menu wasn’t available . He said the kitchen was too busy and didn’t have the time to do sandwiches as was making Sunday lunches !!

This says a lot , the pub was far from busy , there was an abundance of staff and I really don’t think it would of harmed him to roll his sleeves up and make a sarnie !!

Anyway we travelled to Kelsall , visited the Morris Dancer which served us 3 delightful sandwiches with skin on fries which were delicious ! The place was packed the staff were friendly and the menu was varied and they seemed to cope well with doing Sunday lunches too !! They took our £65 to add to their profits . And a nice £5 tip for the staff.

We will not return to your pub and will tell others not to bother to .

Shocking customer service in this day and age !!

Went for Fathers Day and was very disappointed. The menu was nothing to get excited about but I suppose for a busy Fathers Day it has to be limited. The Artisan bread board was very disappointing, basically cold and, what can only be described as, stale bread. The "3 pigs" starter was hilarious, 3 of the tiniest slivers of "sausage roll" I have ever seen and at a cost of over £6. The main courses also were not worth the money, the tandori chicken with chilli and mango salad was definitely a light bite and did not warrant the almost £10 price tag. The roast dinners were by far the most disappointing, the meat was nice, the potatoes were nice but the Yorkshire pudding was definitely not fresh, and probably made in bulk the day before, I suspect the veg was also a frozen mix as non of us had the same veg on our plate, one had a lot of mange tout and a few carrots, I had all carrots and a few peas, another had loads of peas and one lone mange tout and a carrot. When I have had roast dinners here in the past they have been lovely and the veg was served in a separate bowl, like at the Hornsmill in Helsby. Wasn't going to have a pudding but was tempted by the Eton Mess, bearing in mind this had a £5.95 price tag on it, all it was was a shop bought, cardboard, meringue nest with a dollop of cream on the top and a few strawberries and a scoop of ice cream. I should really have sent it back as should the other person in our party who didn't even have a whole meringue nest but half !!!! If they had made it like a proper Eton Mess maybe we wouldn't have realised that the kitchen couldn't be bothered to make their own meringue. With a bill of almost £200 it was a very disappointing meal and we certainly won't be rushing back. The staff were friendly and the décor is nice but definitely let down by the average, over priced food. I've had better at a £6.95 carvery.

User

Very disappointing menu that was just for Father’s Day . Food wasn’t it’s best soup was poor and came with thin sliced white bread already buttered . Prawn cocktail wasn’t to there usual standard . Roast beef was poor laser cut and dry veg was frozen veg . Usually you would get a dish with veg in . My son had chicken strips and chips with garlic bread his plate was taken before he had finished eating .wont be returning very soon . Disappointed too with the new decorations they have lost the character of the original goshawk .

User

Taken here for Father’s Day by my lovely wife

Very disappointed with the menu choice, had to send the soup back as it was very thin and the bread came ready buttered and was the thin sliced bread you’d get from a packet, the roast beef was very poor all dried up and very thin on a small bed of frozen vegetables, could get better food cheaper at a carvery, didn’t stay for pudding we left and went elsewhere, it’s a shame we’ve been coming here for years and never had such a poor meal on a special occasion

The menus has always been varied. We were only there for Mother’s Day and the food was fantastic WHAT had changed

User

My husband and I came here yesterday for some dinner. We were seated quite promptly, unfortunately we had to wait a while for our drinks. When the drinks finally arrived I had no wine glass with my wine, so I had to wait again for a glass. Our food order was taken and thankfully the wait on food wasn't too bad. I wasn't entirely happy with the service of the staff and we didn't feel at all welcome. No one asked us how the meals were, if we wanted more drinks or simply service with a smile. We spent quite a lot of money at this pub but I won't be recommending. Sorry goshawk, you have let yourselves down this time.
