Hi lovely people, we are organising an afternoon tea , where you will be able to help yourself with coffee/tea/biscuits and cake for just Ā£3 per person. The great news is that half of the money will go to support Battersea dogs and cats shelter, in fact one of their representatives will be here holding a speech to briefly explain everyone what they do at Battersea and why they need our help!! The afternoon is open to everyone and if you have a dog, please bring him/her along, we always have plenty of biscuits for them as well. We would recommend to book as soon as possible!

User

The dog wall of fame is up in the pub! Pop in to see if you can spot your dog on the board...if not, make sure that we take a picture of your furry friend and put it up! We are organising an event with Battersea dog shelter, more information to come over the next few weeks.

User

Went for lunch on the recommendation that the food was good. In fact it was great. We shared everything - three starters and a main. Crab cakes on samphire were soft and moreish with an unctuous little soul I. Deep fried whitebait and calamari were good. The beetroot hummus with a bunch of fresh radishes was brilliant, could have eaten just that on its own. But the star of the show was the chicken main with wild garlic butter. Going back just to have that again - cooked beautifully- soft and slightly crisp where it needed to be. Natalieā€™s hosting was on point too - attentive and generous. There will be definitely be a next time.

User

Very good pub, very polite stuff, very good beers. I was there with some hungarian beer- crafter friends, they same form like this place.

User

I just wanted to thank you so much for making me feel so comfortable breastfeeding in public. It was our first time out since the birth, and I was a little nervous, but I was made to feel totally welcome, from the lady who gave me cushions, to the waitress who offered to help as I was trying (and failing) to grind salt on my food. I have recommended you to all my new mummy friends. The food was great, as always!

User

I have been in this pub three times and I really enjoy it. I suggest people to visit it, because the staff is kind and courteous: simply amazing. See you soon, kisses and hugs Enzo!!!

User

Fabulous food! Had three courses, all delicious. Lovely atmosphere- busy and bustling, great surroundings. My only criticism was that there wasn't enough staff on. The two people serving looked shattered and were run off their feet. They still managed to be polite and efficient tho, so we gave them a good tip. ļæ½

User

Excellent food & wine. Roast beef Sunday lunch was gorgeous. Weā€™ll be back sooner rather than later.

Only issue was we had a pram (told them when booking) & we were put next to another party with a couple of buggies with them & it all got a bit cramped. Minor issue though.

User

Staff are always friendly and the cracking craft beers are rotated every three days, so thereā€™s always something refreshing to try. Canā€™t wait to try the food as Iā€™m told it is delicious šŸ˜ƒ

User

Service charge was more like central London percentage wise which is a bit off considering we were well out of central London and had to ask for water refills multiple times. Ok if tourist in area I Guess butt could do so much better than that

User

Nice pub. Great ales. Food menu never changes...but the roast is good on a Sunday. It could be excellent but it remains good. The best pub in Blackheath for sure.

User

Nice pub, not too busy when we arrived, normal SE3 prices for drinks.. Friendly staff. Food a little pricey for a pub but service good

User

Good food and excellent service even though it was extremely busy - Ā£20 was a bit expensive in my view for fish and chips and a glass of wine but I guess I'm not used to London prices. Nice surroundings and I felt presently comfortable being in there in my own

User

A good ale house, and the music is kept in the background not disturbing at all.

Food is a bit pricey, but then it is London and a tourist's mecca as well.

I will go back again for sure.

User

Not as good as it used to be....not sure if they have a new chef but the food, although the same as we ordered a few months previously wasnā€™t of the same quality.... not sure if we will go back....such a shame as we used to love coming here for food on Friday nights ļæ½

User

Fabulous Yorkshire puds and the roast carrots ok but the rest of the Sunday chicken roast was a let down. Chicken very dry on the outside but slightly underdone near the bone. Roast potatoes tasted like Aunt Bessie's. Next time I will just have a plate of the Yorkshire puds and be very happy.

User

We have often been here for both food and drink.

The drink has never disappointed.

However eating last night was a major disappointment - after seating ourselves in the table service dining area we waited...and waited for said service. Eventually we gave up and went to the bar for our own drinks. Then waited for a menu, eventually getting our own. Then waited for our order to be taken, before getting up and asking for our order to be taken. Then waited a long time for our food (which was nice, but pricey). We then waited both for the bill and also to pay the bill - eventually giving up and paying at the bar.

Perhaps forgivable IF the place was busy - but it was not. Paying the 12.5% service charge stuck in my throat - but I could not be doing with another wait until this got sorted out.

Shan't be eating there again. Shame!

User

The Hare and Billet is not my kind of pub. It had a nice choice of beer, but the menu was overpriced and pretentious. The atmosphere was lacking as well, with depressing minor chord indy music playing in the background. It's probably a nice place if that's your cup of tea, but I felt the place was a bit off for my liking.

User

Sunday dinner was expensive for what it was, 2 slices of tasteless meat, 2 very dry potatoes, cabbage that was too sweet, half a carrot and a Yorkshire pud. It's a decent pub but the food is way over priced, I get the location but there's way better dinners in near by pubs for less money. I think they have got a bit greedy. Ā£6 for apple pie and a spoonful of custard from a tin, need I say more. Would drink in the pub again but would never eat there again.

User

This absolute disgrace of an establishment has just dismissed a member of staff, an extremely efficient and experienced worker I might add, due to a bad review posted on Trip Advisor by a family member.

Does any place in modern times except to get away with basic victimisation at this level? In the mid 1800s this might have been acceptable, but not in 2018.

Unless I hear of the situation being rectified, with compensation I shan't be attending The Hare & Billet and I would encourage others to follow suit.

User

Do not bother with this place. The staff were useless and didnā€™t havenā€™t a clue. Completely messed up the food order and took forever to bring a replacement dish, by then my wife had already finished. All without any apology, and offer of an alternative dish and with an attitude.
